Review Arby’s Deep Fried Turkey Gobbler

Post image

As someone who generally doesn't care for fast food limited/seasonal gimmicks (like the Holiday Pies at McDs), I was a little skeptical at first about this sandwich. I remember seeing it advertised last year around this time of year, but waited too long to give it a try.

Now I actually pulled the trigger, and I am not upset about it. I got a decent 8-9 inch sandwich filled with thicker than normal sliced turkey, stuffing, crispy onion strings, Swiss cheese, cranberry sauce and mayo.

The turkey is advertised as "deep-fried", but I don't really know that I could tell the difference. It was not tender, but it was also not tough or rubbery so I'm happy with the texture. Most of the flavors from this item came from the sweetness of the cranberry sauce and the savoriness of the stuffing, which worked together perfectly well. The onion strings also provided some nice crunch to the sandwich, although the mayo and cranberry sauce kinda made them a little soggy by the time I took my first bite. There was Swiss cheese in the bottom bun, but I didn't really notice it much with all the other things on top of it. I like Swiss, but It just seemed like an afterthought and something that this sandwich could have done without.

I went into this sandwich with low expectations and figured I would just be throwing away my $8. But I was pleasantly surprised by the final results, which is essentially a typical leftover Thanksgiving sandwich like you would make at home.

The only thing I didn't like was the bread, which could have used a few more minutes in a toaster. The stuffing was also falling out of the sandwich as it wasnt spread well. Other than that it's worth it if you like Thanksgiving food.

7/10

Popeyes Popeyes app bday item scam

Post image

So I purchased on the app. It gave me a free bday apple pie so I added that to my cart as well. When I went to check out. It said my pie was free on the itemized receipt, but at the total they charged me full price for it.

I sent in a request to customer service to refund. They said they will give me 300 points instead for a pie next time. I didn’t even care for the pie to begin with. I only got it because it stated it was free. I told customer service just refund me $2 for the charge instead. At this point it’s not about the $2 but the principle. Customer service said no to the refund and said that the 300 points is good enough.

Arbys I’ve seen enough…Arby’s is destroying the competition in bang for your buck.

First and foremost, I know Arby’s isn’t for everyone. Lot of items especially LTO’s are a big swing and miss. Steak nuggets specifically have to be the most mid thing they have failed to hype.

As for mobile deals, I cannot think of another fast food business coming close. Once a week in app they run Bogo sandwich which includes the half pound cheddar cheese in my area. Essentially a 2 for $10 deal.

Been a week or two since I had it, and on the app today is a separate free cheesesteak deal with $10 purchase, and the new spicy variants have slapped imo. Also they have free bogo sides routinely as well.

I grab the 3 for trio deal, gyro, mozz sticks, small fry, peach cobbler sticks, and a drink for $10. I added bacon on the gyro and all I remember is it came out $12 something.

Getting handed that much food for $12 and a free cheesesteak felt criminal compared to Taco Bell charging $7 for whatever micro sized LTO they push out monthly. At this point, Chipotle is destroying TB in price’s, and have been for a while now.

What boggles me is being a child and remembering Arby’s as being incredibly expensive compared to other joints.
It feels like Arby’s prices have just remain constant through time while everyone else inflated.

Question What fast food chain have you recently tried for the very first time? What did you think of it?

For me, the most recent fast food chain (that I had never even heard of before this) was Foosackly's a couple weeks ago. It's a chicken tenders place located in the southeast, and turns out they're pretty good. Much better than Cane's, and pretty cheap for what you get, too.

News New Rules on r/Fastfood, new mods (?) - SUCK

This sub changed their “rules” (see the sidebar) in the last week or so. The rules used to incldue cash casual Mods are actively removing posts from places like Famous Dave’s, etc. Gone. BUT - your “neighborhood taqueria” is allowed???? Most of those have table service. “Gas station” is fast food? Come on. “Food trucks” are NOT fast food. Some pizza huts still have table service - should they be discounted? Any pizza place in general shouldn’t be in the same category as fast food! The old rules were better. As far as I can tell, this was the best sub for all fast casual, quick service restaurants. We had fun talking Chili’s 3-4-me, Applebee’s, BWW, Pizza Hut (NOT “fast food”), etc. What’s going on w/the new over-reaching mods who want to squash our fun? What’s the harm? Yet they allowed a post from a couple days ago from a sit down burger joint. Whoever the new mods are, STOP. Let us enjoy!
