A PSA from someone with an HR background

Please be aware of the information that you post here.

A number of posts in the past month have included photos of labels for bags with the guests' phone numbers still visible, which CAN be considered "doxxing."

I've also seen photos of receipts that include the store phone number and/or operator's name. While that is public information, it's not in your best interest to post that to your reddit account because you automatically expose which particular Chick-fil-A you work at and can be held responsible for anything you post, as you now reflect the company AND your particular location.

Team members have been fired for social media posts that they've made on public platforms like FaceBook and Tiktok that revealed private information about Chick-fil-A, negatively represented the company, or compromised the safety of guests.

I doubt that most of you have malicious intent, but it's still necessary to always be aware that posting certain things can compromise your privacy OR that of unwitting guests. Please uphold the values of good stewardship and of treating guests and each other with honor, dignity, and respect by protecting guests' privacy, as well as your own.

Thank-you all so much!

Multitasking

Hey everyone,
I started working at my local chic fil a I would say middle of September. I’ve started to understand how everything runs and what stations I’m on but there’s one station I simply cannot do, beverages.

I have to take orders for Lane 1 drive thru and make drinks. I already have a hard time multitasking as I try to focus on taking orders but I still need to make drinks. Some of the time there are multiple drinks in one order. Today we got slammed and I was so overwhelmed I could not focus and we were backed up like crazy. Desserts are pretty steady as I still take orders for Lane 2 and make milkshakes, which aren’t ordered as much as fountain drinks, PDF bevs, etc.

Please let me know any techniques you recommend for beverages or what I should do regarding future shifts.

Most optimal way to manage fries

How do y'all manage your fry stations? Recently I've been getting put on fries often, and I've been wondering what's the most efficient way to keep fries stocked without wasting them. Right now, my setup during normal/slow times is two small fries in the 1st chute, two mediums in the 2nd and 3rd chutes, and two larges in the 4th chute. I only use one fryer at a time outside of rushes to conserve uses, and so I don't backhand myself tryna express clean both at the same time later in the day.

I use the drive-thru monitor to gauge whether or not I should drop fries depending on how long the line is. And finally, when I know we're about to get hit with a rush, I like to buffer my fries by opening a bag and leaving it in the freezer until I'm ready to drop them (this only shaves off like three seconds, but every second counts when you turn around and your whole chute vanishes).
Anything I should change/improve on? Am I trying too hard?

Having 3rd Interview at CFA (Leadership Development Program) any tips?

Hi y'all! I used to work at Chick-fil-A back in 2021/2022 for 18 months but left to pursue a career in I.T. before I realized that it was too stressful for me and transitioned back into the food service/hospitality industry. I worked as an opening manager at a big burger chain similar to Five Guys for 2 and 1/2 years and now I'm applying to work at Chick-fil-A once again.

This is a new store that hasn't yet opened (the Operator in my 2nd interview informed me it would open in December). So far I've had 2 interviews, one with a hiring manager and a Team Leader shadowing and the 2nd was with the Operator of the new Chick-fil-A. This 3rd interview I'm told is with some of their Directors (unsure how many) and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or tips in terms of what questions they might ask? I'm applying specifically to be a part of the FOH Leadership Development Program, but when I originally worked at Chick-fil-A I was a normal Team Member but I was cross-trained in both the front and the back.

Here are some of the questions they've asked me so far in the interviews:

"Tell me a bit about yourself and your work experience."

"What does your availability and schedule look like?"

"If your friends and family had to describe you in 1 word, what would it be? Give me atleast 3."

"Let's say a co-worker is stressed out and you happen to notice during your shift. How do you respond/help them?"

"What are your pay expectations for this role?"

My interview is in 2 days from now, so if anyone has any tips or advice or knows what kinds of questions they'd ask, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

How the HELL do you guys have one person running primary?

I truly cannot fathom how some stores have only ONE person on primary all day, especially on Friday’s and Saturdays. How does one do buns, specials, and sandwiches all at once without getting behind? Maybe this isn’t a common thing but I’ve heard of a few stores doing it and I really can’t comprehend how goated you have to be at CFA to do all that alone. On a Monday through Wednesday okay sure it’s slow but the rest of the week….??????????? What happens during dinner rush lmao

How do you deal with customer hitting on you or making you uncomfortable?

I'm 16 and have been working a little bit more than half a year and to be honest I feel uncomfortable customers keep hitting on me and they all are way older than me definitely not teens. I don't even know what to say besides trying to ignore or just take the compliment. While I guess it works I still think back of a man that refused my answer no and only backed off after I said I was 16, then a group of men came in and were making comments about my body as I was giving them their food. So far these have been my worst moments that made me feel grossed out. So if anyone has and experience how to deal with this situation please let me know and I like to be respectful even if they aren't to me. Btw sorry for any grammar or anything that doesn't really make sense #iwrotethiswithanhourofsleep

Ops Lead Training

Hi there CFA community,

I have two close friends of mine that work for the company and one of them talked me up to their operator. Turns out they are looking for someone they can start to train for an Ops Leader position. Anybody have experience with the training involved for the first 90 days?

For clarification: according to this stores hierarchy, it starts with “Team Member” -> “Trainer” -> “Operations Leader”

Why would they choose to promote a new hire?

How is the leadership training structured?

TIA.

The milkshakes are listed as small on commerce point at my location

I just noticed this today. Anyone else see this? Why list a milkshake size? I feel like this is a sign that there will be multiple sizes.

If they bring back large sized milkshakes, I will cry. Especially if they do this during peppermint shake season. I will get cooked on the Taylor machine.

Nothing one said anything about it in my store’s leadership and it wasn’t announced on the homepage.

Does it sound like I got the job?

I used to work at CfA as a lead. I went to another location for an interview and the girl who interviewed me (I assume she was a shift lead or maybe director? I couldn’t really see her name tag) said she loved that I have prior experience and wanted to hire me just based off of first impressions, but she said the decision wasn’t up to her. She gave me a tour of the whole restaurant and even introduced me to the operator of the store and told him she really wanted me to work here. The interview went great.

She said they had to follow procedure and have a second interview with me. They couldn’t have just one interview at this location. They gave me a time and date for the second one, but in the email it said I need to bring my IDs for onboarding. This didn’t happen at my last CfA. So does this mean I pretty much scored the job, or should I not get my hopes up just yet?

I GOT THE JOB!!

I interviewed as for a team leader position recently and got an email saying I got the job! Very excited and nervous during my last interview it was said that since I’ve never worked at chick fil a but has previous shift lead experience they’ll see how much I improve in a month!

I think I just might have given my wrong pants size since I never measured my pants size lol

Do workers avoid certain customers

I’m not a CFA employee but wanted to know do some people working the drive thru avoid certain customers? I was in the drive thru and this girl just rubbed me the wrong way, and she wanted someone else to give me my order but it was ready by the time she asked. I overheard she saying can you give this next drive thru order.
I wasn’t offended and we just had an odd interaction but wanted to know if this has happened to anyone? For the record I never did anything weird or tried to flirt with her. We were of the same ethnic background so not sure if that weirded her out 🤷🏻‍♂️

Cross Trained?

I've recently been getting cross trained--started boh learning foh. Other than my directors and leads I am one of very few team members who is actually cross trained. I was wondering how common being cross trained is at other stores

Hours Cut Back

so i just had my performance review and the lady told me i was doing a great job. i had mentioned that i feel kind of insecure about my performance and dont feel like im good at my job and she said i wouldnt get the hours (20-25+ weekly) that i do if i was bad. so that made me feel better, but that same lady is in charge of scheduling and since our meeting ive been scheduled less hours and next week i was scheduled 11 hours and one of the days i wasnt even scheduled even though im available. so i reached out to see if anyone didnt want their halloween shift and someone didnt want theirs so they dropped it and i picked it up but they denied my pickup and gave it to someone else despite me being the first person to request it AND they gave it to a new hire. i just feel like i did something wrong but i dont understand what.

Would turning down the one year leadership program automatically disqualify me from earning the $25,000 scholarship award?

I am applying for the $25,000 scholarship and really need it but I truly dont want to participate in the year long leadership program that is offered with it. When it says that "recipients will have the opportunity to participate", they make it sound optional like its not something that will make or break one's chances. On the official cfa site, it says recipients are "invited" to participate" For those who have earned this or know others who have earned this in the past, if I select no on this portion of the application, are my chances of earning this scholarship effectively dead in the water or does it really not matter?

Getting burnt out

I just recently started working BOH at cfa about 2 months ago. It doesn't sound like a lot, but this is my first full time job. I normally work between 35 and 40 hours, with my normal shift being 5 - 2, about 5 days a week.

I don't know if anyone else has run into this, but I'm already so burnt out. In between work, college, and any other obligations, I just have no more energy, and I really don't want to get up in the morning. Also, I just never feel like I get the right amount of sleep.

Anyway, I know it's not specific to CFA, but it is partially the reason, so. Just wanted to know if anyone else can relate or has some tips. Thanks!

Third Interview Help

Help, I have my third interview in two days, what kinds of questions can I expect? Any advice?
