Me again—this time shooting in an underground military range
youtu.beSome of you might remember my shotgun post about shooting being “Britain’s most controversial hobby”.
Well, it’s me again—this time with a firearms video filmed in an underground military range here in the UK. Thought you might appreciate a look at a pretty unusual place to shoot.
Anyone else shot somewhere like this?

Help 300 win mag user experience required please (and to other fac holders)
Good evening everyone,
Not entirely sure I’m posting in the correct forum please correct me if not (first time posting). I’m looking as the title says to gain some experience with any fellow fac holders that have a 300 Winchester magnum or 300 prc. (Any 30cal magnum essentially). Due to new rules coming in with my licencing authority it’s required before I put in for another variation that I have (for lack of a better way in explaining) “shot” that calibre at least 8-9 times. Of course the ammunition will be fully covered by myself and I’m a full fac holder with 9 rifles ranging up to .308 and 45-70. Now I’m looking to explore ultra long distance and large game hunting BOTH as they are my primary interests in shooting. I’m located around skipton North/West Yorkshire and am happy to travel around to get the experience. (Unrelated I’ll also be posting again asking if anybody would be willing to take me out to shoot over some of their land with their rifle a few times so that my ticket can be opened up. Yes I know DSC1 should be the answer but according to my FEO it’s only a supplement and doesn’t suffice.
Thank you very much!
R

223 for club days
a Tikka T3 rebarrled to .233 1/7 twist pendragon barrel is 1.1” the thickest a T3 action can accommodate. It’s been to proof but never fully assembled.
it’s an orphan from my friends RFD which he shut down just before he went to the happy hunting ground

galleryA new one on me the HQS Ultimate Silence from bulgaria has two distinct chambers.
Took it to Bisley a couple of weeks ago, it’s even quieter than the A-tec H3.

Anyone have experience with collection in person with a private seller?
I've spoken to a seller recently and they said I only need to bring my ID and licence to collect, but I'm wondering if there's more to the process because it's "behind closed doors"?
For example, do we need authorisation beforethe transaction is completed? I don't want to end up getting in trouble on my way back home because I've missed something. The process seemed a bit too straight foward considering the product. Or am I just overthinking it?

New License 6.5
Hi guys
Just received my license after two years where I’ve applied for a 6.5 Creedmoor?
This has been listed on the license as .65 under calibre?
Has anyone else got something similar?

SGC to FAC
I’m wondering what the process of going from an SGC to FAC is… Do I apply and keep both or do all my current shotguns go on an FAC? Thinking of applying for my FAC having shot clays/game endlessly for the past three years.

Divorce, moving home and my sg certificate
Men,
I will likely be getting a divorce this/next year.
I will be forced to move out of our home where my guns and safe currently reside (it's my wife's company's house and I as the outsider will need to leave)
I may find myself living at home with my mother, but unfortunately as she is a foster carer we don't believe she is allowed firearms in the house, so a force transfer is likely off the cards.
What the fuck am I gonna do with my guns.
Can I sell them but keep the license? Would you still need a safe at a fixed address to hold a so cert?
I don't want to have to pay a gunshop a fee for storage either.
I know that if I hand in my license, I would likely not bother applying again in the future, so if possible I'd rather not lose it.

A Morning Clay Shooting in the UK 🇬🇧 (Now With 100% Less AI Thumbnail)
youtu.beAfternoon all!
Thought I’d share my latest vlog from a morning out clay pigeon shooting here in the UK. 🇬🇧🎯
I’ve recently started a YouTube channel called Jack IRL, covering countryside life, shooting and whatever else I get up to.
You’ll all be relieved to know that the offending thumbnail has now been removed, and normal service has resumed. A national crisis narrowly avoided.
Anyway, back to the actual video! Just a fairly relaxed morning breaking clays, enjoying the countryside and having a laugh.
I’m still finding my feet with the whole YouTube thing, so any feedback is welcome — preferably about the video this time, but I know that’s asking a lot of Reddit. 😂

Cheers all! 👍

International Student - Shotgun License
Can I legally obtain a shotgun license in the southwest if I am on a student visa? I am able to install a gun cabinet in my apartment. I practice clay shooting intensively back home and would love to be able to practice in the UK as well.

Dr Twist Rate, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Grain
gallerySo there I was, minding my own business...
I bought a Franchi Horizon Elite Varmint in .223rem second hand. It was barely fired but had been in a safe slightly unclean for a year and did have some rot setting in on the lands.
Didn't have much time, so I bought some cheap ammunition and got out to the range. Wanting to try something super cheap before going in on more expensive rounds I bought 50 GGG 55gr. This is a 1/9" twist.
I spent an hour wondering if it was me, the gun, the ammunition, or all 3. Very disappointing groups and I gave up after throwing 40 rounds downrange.
So I went home, scrubbed the life out of it, bought some more 55gr, some 62gr, and some 68gr.
This is the first time I've really seen the effect of grain weight on group sizes.
I tried some different 55gr to see if the quality would affect the group size as well as the weight and it did make a huge difference. 2.2MOA down to around 1MOA.
68gr got down to 0.8MOA and it could have been better if not for the shooter.
I had an option of buying an open box of Lapua 69gr but I'd already spent some money so decided against it. Now I wish I'd tried it.
Anyway, for anyone else buying a new-to-them rifle make sure you try out a bunch of ammunition in different weights and quality!
(Re-upload for photos)

Does anyone have an M14 they would want to sell for a reasonable price?
Idk if this is the place to ask this but I’m in the market for a replica/airsoft M14 Battle Rifle. I’ve looked everywhere and the only good one I saw was discontinued and idk where else to look. If anyone could help out or does have one they’d like to sell I’d gladly take one of your hands :)

Red Dot and Magnifier not aligning?
Am I stupid?
Red dot: Vector Optics Maverick-II 1x25 Gen II (SCRD-72)
Magnifier: Vector Optics Maverick-III 3x22 (SCMF-31)
Misaligned by like 5mm? supposed to be compatible with each other, they are both on the same rail.
Ignore bad paint job on the ruger, half way done removing the last owners rattle can job

So I wrote a new app….
A few months ago I was looking for “summat to do” and I realised I had about 10 different shooting apps on my phone. I’m a software developer but had never developed an Android / iOS app before.
So what started as a bit of a fun project actually turned into something pretty ok (according to the feedback) . It’s been beta tested by lots of different users from airgunners to fullbore shooters (mostly from the UK shooting forums)
I listened to feedback on how everything is subscription based or full of ads, and so it’s available on the web for free (slightly limited) and a one off payment for the mobile apps.
The only subscription : “gated feature” is a cloud sync process, because that costs a bunch of money to run.
anyway please feel free to check it out, my only ask is if you down vote me, please leave some feedback as to why!

Moved from Bedfordshire to Northamptonshire with a live application.
Hi all, looking for some advice and im not quite sure what to do. I have moved from bedfordshire to northamptonshire but have a live application with beds police for my FAC and SGC combined since Feb 2025. i have had no response - im aware of the long wait time.
I have contacted both Northamptonshire and bedfordshire about the situaiton im in but still no response. Am i better off just biting the bullet (pardon the pun) and starting my application again with Northants, joining the back of the line again - and then getting a charge back from my bank for the Bedfordshire application?
