Discussion “Korra lost all the time.”

Would rather her win all the time like a real legitimate Mary Sue? Seriously, y’all, pick a lane already. Either she’s too super special awesome and gets her way or loses all of her fights.

I liked Korra because of her struggles and not always winning. Her needing help was no different than when Aang (who was blindsided from Azula) needed help from his friends. Since when were we to expect the Avatar to be a loner in this?

Discussion A7H or ASH Theory: I think we are getting TWO TEAM AVATARS, might sound crazy, but her me out. This series and the fandom is very obsessed with the idea of Order and Chaos, so I was inspired to try to make a teams like that. I am fairly certain on 1st and 2nd slides.

Hear me out. Two team avatars is a cool concept.

Like we have never really had an "rival" Team Avatars.

We got that kind of with the Red Lotus, but they weren't rivals and more so just anarchists.

Team Avatar (on screen) isn't TYPICALLY (besides maybe the movie), lead by the Avatars, themselves. Usually, they are the powerhouses but sometimes other people tell them to do or they have someone who isn't the leader take charge. Like Sokka or Asami, who is like a non-bender but makes it for their genius and brilliant design for things. Maybe things will change this time.

Pavi's Team Avatar

No. 1: Avatar Pavi. Now I would imagine Pavi follows the mindset of not wanting to be the leader of her own team. Pavi is far too humble and knows that she likely wouldn't the best to do this. I don't think she would to want to do that. She would just be the ace and help out where can, when the Avatar State happens. I would imagine she speaks to Korra and learns the Avatar State is less of a power up but really a self-defense mechanism. That she will be granted the power that Korra has plus her own, but at the risk of them both dying. Making her conflicted over this. Over time, she will become more confident in herself as the Avatar, but I don't think that is happening anytime soon.

No. 2: Jae. Jae is like the leader, as I would imagine he would be Pavi's closest friend and the be a general guiding force for good. He was the first person that Pavi, had a real connection with, and I think that is important for this dynamic to work. I think she would trust him, to teach her and ultimately guide her team. He might not be the best teacher in the world, but he is a good person and Pavi knows that. Another person also knows that, ultimately, and has actually sat down to speak with Jae in, the next person we will talk about.

No. 3: Uki. I think Uki knows, deep down, she doesn't want to be in The Faceless. Zi will bully her for being a traitor once and now coming back, because she didn't like her new life. Those two are destined to be rivals and that Uki will eventually become someone that Zi will realize that she can't just push around. Right now, Uki knows her purpose is to do something greater and that while it wasn't the bender brigade, it might not be working with the Faceless. In reality, it will be actually training the Avatar. This would much like Zuko's decision that he makes as he leaves the Fire Nation, during Season 3 of ALTA.

"It's Like Poetry...They Rhyme" - George Lucas

Now it would be hilarious if the the two people, who have belittled Avatar Korra, are actually training the person who actively commutes with her. Pavi and Korra could have so much fun messing with them, like I have suggested Korra having Pavi start a bit calling them "Sifu". They think this an annoying that Pavi is just on about and then slowly think this just an insult that Korra has for them in old world slang, but in reality, it means something very different. I would look this up, because it's the type of prank that Pavi and Korra play on them lmao.

No. 4: Datu. I would keep him because I wouldn't like Jae and him breaking up. That would actively frustrate me because why make them a couple at all, have Jae actually address the fact, that the has been a terrible boyfriend. Then Datu then is like "I know, but we work on this, together." and he joins Team Avatar because knows how much he cares for Pavi.

The other two are young members but I can see the seem them being like...people that grow alongside Pavi and for to relate to.

No. 5: Ulan. He is a cadet like her sister "was". Pavi isn't the best waterbending so she needs someone she can practice against. So he can get some shine and bro won't just be stuck as just another member of the sidecast that is doing nothing. Ulan seemed like he wanted to help people.

No. 6: Amow. She could be the residual scammer on her team, to get money and support if they are run from the world. Avatar Korra would vouch for the scammer, she knew because Varrick. Now he was despite being a bad guy up until Season 4, he was a smart guy and made that bank! Also would likely use Amow skills for good rather than selfish desires, after spending time with Team Avatar as time goes on.

Nisha's Team Avatar

No. 1: Avatar Nisha. Her initial role is likely, "we are going to turn this child into a weapon of chaos", to the Faceless's older members, I would imagine. They fail to realize (likely Agam) once Nisha overcomes her fear of the world and gets stronger enough, I think that she will just stop listening to her. Nisha definitely after usurping her, definitely changes the identity to Team Avatar as she begins to embrace her identity more. Nisha is the young idealist, with an ambitious dreams that eclipses her prior master's very small desires in comparison.

No. 2:. Agam. The Faceless Queen might lead Nisha's Team Avatar, for like up until maybe Season 3, because you have to have her serve her role as the leader of the Faceless and a mentor figure. Before Nisha just takes it over and converts to her Team Avatar. The irony of Agam helping Nisha find herself only for Nisha to realize that she shouldn't take order from her would be peak.

Imagine Nisha saying what Sentry does to Valentina, to Agam. Then you can understand and see my vision.

No. 3: Now Zi might on the same view as Agam, at first, but sees Nisha's growing power and ambition as her firebender teacher. I bet she will even encourage this behavior, not because she wants to betray or manipulate Nisha, but legitimately sees a better leader in the Faceless/Her Team Avatar than Agam's. Because Nisha has always driven by her ideals to what she believes is right, and is a young person, rather than someone that is older. There is more mileage and lifespan, for her their organization, with Nisha leading it.

Agam has likely reached her peak, even if she might a tiny bit stronger once she trains Nisha...but yeah....Zi might help her usurp her. Imagine how proud, she would be watching her student, rise above her and then take over their organization and still put her in like 2nd-in-command for her loyalty. Zi would just nod in approval. That's her like her younger sister, that she wished UKI was. 😆

No. 4: Daemin. Now Daemin might just join because he thinks Zi is HOT and she shows clear interest in him despite him being a goober. Who doesn't love a good romance? Though but seriously, he should join because we need like rivalries and stuff. Like the betrayal Jae, Datu, and Pavi would have would be interesting. We don't know his feelings about the whole thing in Ellora, he might side with them because of the fact, they have a more driven Avatar (on paper) than the other team does. Pavi didn't even WANT to be the Avatar, which make his point more laser focused.

No. 5 and 6: The other two faceless members that with Zi. We know they have Earthbending and Airbending. We haven't seen their faces, but I would imagine they would likely side with Zi, eventually, with the idea of letting Nisha take the wheel and aid her with ultimate desire of "fixing the world". Getting rid of their leader Agam, once Nisha takes charge since they would rather have an Avatar as their leader than a hag. 😂

Question What religion is the Fire Nation?

This has been on my mind a lot lately, I’m really curious what religion the Fire Nation would be. Based on the pattern of real world religions the show has, my first guess was maybe Shintoism since the FN is largely based on Japan. But then given the importance that the sun has maybe they have some kind of sun based religion? But then of course ancestor worship is also central to lots of countries in Asia and probably not far fetched given the way the Fire Nation seems to lowkey revere their dead.

Lemme know your thoughts.

Discussion If they flushed out spirit bending by having it return to the world, what would you have thought be a good way to depict it.

So in the lion turtle explained that before bending, people would bend their spirit energy. We then see korra start to spirit bend on book 2, and a new version in the finally.

There is also how spirit seems to be something more free to do and not restricted, as there were a few spirit abilities, like when Zaheer and that earth bender guy were able to leave their physical bodies to meet in the spirit world. That seems like it could fall in the spirit being category.

But it they started being spirit as the 5th element, how would you have handled it.

Personally I would make so it acts similar to the ki you see in martial arts anime. Able to use martial arts to bring it forth like bending, but it is layered over to make the attacks far stronger than before. There is a sixth sense that uses spirit.

And it's something that non benders and benders can use. When used with bending it can cause effects on what they are bending. Non benders can spirit to enhance their body or attacks.

Question Did Avatar Aang movie hint at past lives being restored?

In the Avatar Aang movie we saw Aang reconnect with Sonam even though she cut off herself from the avatar cycle.

Image Was Guru Pathik the only person from Roku's time still alive during Aang's (after Katara unfroze him)? Could this have been a reason why the writers severed her past connections?

Discussion thread to talk about the possibility that they ripped away Korra's past lives because she had "enough" people from Aang's time, whereas Aang had nobody left from Roku's? And every other Avatar about whom we've learned so far had both....... now, Pavi and Nisha (so far as we know) will only have Korra?

The Phoenix Empire reigns, the Avatar is defeated, the Earth Kingdom falls into disarray. Kuvira rises to power after being tossed aside for so long. Noticing the imbalance in the world. Kuvira attempts to restore peace through any means necessary. The Earth Empire is formed and many join Kuvira's cause in an effort to defeat the Phoenix Empire. Many battles are waged between the 2 remaining empires. Ranging from simple rebellions in Omashu, to full on battles out in the middle of nowhere. Key points are fought in winning the Twin Empires War. Eventually the new Phoenix King and Kuvira come face to face. Armies standing off face to face. Who do you think would win?

Discussion What would a “fully fleshed out avatar” look like?

So we know that for airbenders, they tend to be bald to feel the air across their head for better detection. Toph and the Bei Fong family (at least) use bare feet to sense the earth better.
This makes me wonder what a bald, barefoot avatar would look like, as well as what other characteristics would they have to help better Fire and Water bend?

Discussion Just watched season one episode 10 of The Legend of Korra.

It seems, to me, that attacking the Air Island Temple in air ships while it's being guarded by an air bending master should have been a non-issue. A large enough headwind or a strong down draft and the air ships either can't move or are destroyed. Tenzin should have had no issues with them, imo.

Discussion Do you think we will ever have a show or movie aimed at teenagers/adults?

Dont get me wrong, i love Seven Havens and im fully ok with the franchise staying for kids but i would love if they branch out a bit like they did for the novels and made more mature content meant for an older audience. Whats the point of a new studio if they dont try new things like this? Thats just my train of thought though. Still love the way the franchise is. As long as they dont aim it towards actual babies im sure i will enjoy whatever they come up with in the future.

This was one of Katara’s most goated moments!

The Painted Lady has always been one of my favorite episodes of Book 3. Even though many people dismiss it as filler, I still think it’s a fantastic episode that really showcases Katara’s character, her compassion, her determination, and how far she’s willing to go to help people in need.

Also, not Aang always going along with her shenanigans! Lmfao

They really had those people convinced she was some kind of Lake spirit. 😭😂
I loved how creative their teamwork was in this episode, and especially how much Katara trusted Aang. She didn’t flinch even once! That level of trust was everything.

Discussion What would be a better design for Raava/Vaatu instead of the kites?

While it never bothered me too much, I do agree with a lot of the criticisms that Raava and Vaatu could have a much better visual design than what we got. If they were to have a different form, should they appear more animal-like, or humanoid, or something completely different?

Discussion Should the franchise ever try to make a show thats TV-14/aimed at young adults?

Thinking about this in the context of Seven Havens. I feel like alot of people were worried that the show would be too immature, but it has shown us otherwise. The show has been handling complicated and very mature themes. Also, interestingly, its rated PG, whereas ATLA and LOK were rated TV-Y7. But this might have to do with differing standards when LOK and ATLA were released even using the same system? Anyways, I think the charm of the Avatar has been that its kid friendly but also handles really insightful and important themes. At the same time, I wonder if a show dealing with like Kyoshi would benefit from having a TV rating equivalent to what her books are rated for (young adult I believe.) SPOILERS for Kyoshi novels. There's alot of intense violence and mature themes in the books that I feel like a tv-14 rating could be necessary. Kuruk's lore also has tons of very violent fights with spirits. I'm interested to see if the new Kuruk show will have any timeskips and how they'll deal with that. But also, I feel like having a piece of animated media be singularly restricted from children would be strange for a franchise and there probably isn't a precedent for that. The novels can kind of get away with it because of the nature of the medium.

Discussion What if Tagah was awoken in Korra’s time.

It’s just an interesting insight into his potential mindset in this world. Assuming it takes place after the events of book four it would be interesting to see how he comes to terms with a world more advanced than even Aang’s time. Where spirits and people live together, nations are far more blended than they’ve ever been and where the avatar is a Waterbender. How would he resolve the cognitive dissonance of having disdain for any non airbender whilst accepting the fact that a Waterbending avatar was responsible for bringing the Air nation back. Would the whole ploy of getting Sonam’s staff be as successful or less and how would Zaheer react to his existence. What would a potential interaction between Zaheer and Tagah look like.

Discussion In A7H, am I the only one who finds that waterbending/ water tribe is one of the most mysterious one currently? Spoiler

Genuinely something is off from the song having connections to the watertribe ,then waterbending is the one they showcase the least among all bendings in the show, and Deamin is the mysterious white lotus member who didn't train Nisha and Pavi on waterbending so far, and how Nisha's test, waterbending is the one she didn't even get a chance to be tested on.

I feel like I'm crazy but all this can't be a coincidence, is it??

Discussion Am I the Only One With this Interpretation?

Post image
38 Upvotes

Seeing lots of people online lately that seem very upset with the apparent “nerfing” of Team Avatar in the recent movie. The main two points I’ve seen being used to make this point are:

  1. Tagah solos the whole team (minus Aang, but then later also beats Aang).
  2. The Denied are able to be at least a match for the team, instantly after being granted airbending.

So, given both these events, and also the backstory about how Sonam’s staff was so extra special because it was supercharged with the energy of the entire spirit world…am I really the only one who interpreted it as the staff effectively giving them SUPERCHARGED airbending powers?

Like at least in my view, it seems that getting power from the staff is more or less a cheat code that instantly gives you insane bending chops. Given how important and powerful Sonam’s staff is made out to be…it kind of seemed obvious?
