Mod Announcement Seven Havens S1 Episodes 7, 8, 9 - Spoiler Thread Spoiler

This is a thread for spoiler discussion of this week's three episodes of Avatar Seven Havens, which release together at midnight PT / 3am ET**. Please try to keep general reactions/thoughts, for at least the immediate hours after the episodes drop, to this thread.

  • This week's episodes: "What Lies Beneath" , and "The Envoys" (part 1 & 2)
  • Previous ASH Threads: Ep. 1-3 , Ep. 4-6

r/TheLastAirbender and r/AvatarSevenHavens have discussion threads for each episode.

** The official release time should be when this post is ten minutes old, unless reddit messes up this scheduling feature and I am not awake in time to fix it. Also for some reason the episodes so far have been releasing several minutes after the scheduled time.

Discussion Am I the Only One With this Interpretation?

Post image
49 Upvotes

Seeing lots of people online lately that seem very upset with the apparent “nerfing” of Team Avatar in the recent movie. The main two points I’ve seen being used to make this point are:

  1. Tagah solos the whole team (minus Aang, but then later also beats Aang).
  2. The Denied are able to be *at least* a match for the team, instantly after being granted airbending.

So, given both these events, and also the backstory about how Sonam’s staff was so extra special because it was supercharged with the energy of the entire spirit world…am I really the only one who interpreted it as the staff effectively giving them **SUPERCHARGED** airbending powers?

Like at least in my view, it seems that getting power from the staff is more or less a cheat code that instantly gives you insane bending chops. Given how important and powerful Sonam’s staff is made out to be…it kind of seemed obvious?

Discussion Need help finding a fanfic that focused on Zuko and Azula's relationship after the finale. Not incest.

It was on A03 and the ships were canon. I don't remember what it was called but I remember Azula would be in her cell hallucinating she was seeing Ursa who would sometimes just sit there.

Discussion The Avatar and their adorable pets

I love that Aang, Korra, Pavi and Nisha all have the cutest pets that follow along with them on their adventures. I'm assuming that most Avatars had furry companions since we got to see the first Avatar, Wan, have a pet. What kid of pets do you think the Avatars, like kyoshi or Kuruk, would've had, that we haven't seen yet.

Seven Havens The Avatar Spirit....

Technically Unalaq should be one of the Avatar Spirits. He properly merged with Vaatu. And I think everyone has realised by now that the twin avatars are Raava and Vaatu (or some mix of them). If that is confirmed then it would be weird if Unalaq was missing 🤔

Discussion Legend of Korra's Villains Are Better Than Avatar: The Last Airbender's Villains

Post image
112 Upvotes

So I’ve been rewatching both ATLA and LoK, and something struck me: Korra’s villains are way more compelling than Aang’s. Hear me out.

In The Last Airbender, we really only have one big villain—Ozai. Sure, Azula is incredible (and honestly one of the best-written antagonist in ATLA), but the central conflict is Aang vs. the Fire Lord. The problem is… Ozai isn’t really a character. He's a concept. He’s more of a looming force of destruction. He doesn’t get much screentime and is basically evil for the sake of being evil. The only thing that makes him intimidating is his power and the Fire Nation’s military.

Now contrast that with Legend of Korra. Every season gave us a new antagonist with a fleshed-out philosophy, moral gray areas, and a real ideological clash with Korra:

  • Amon (Book 1): Represented the fears of non-benders in a world that idolized bending. His Equalist movement raised legit questions about privilege and oppression.
  • Unalaq (Book 2): He wanted to restore balance between humans and spirits—even if his methods were extreme.
  • Zaheer (Book 3): He's probably the best villain in the franchise. He was a genuine anarchist philosopher, charismatic, and terrifyingly competent. He believed in freedom, and a lot of his points made sense, even though the way he went about it was wrong.
  • Kuvira (Book 4): A “necessary evil” type who thought she was saving her people through authoritarian control. Basically Korra’s mirror image gone wrong.

Every villain in Legend of Korra is fighting for some form of equality and freedom, even though their methods were wrong. The Fire Lord just wanted to take over the world. There was no morally gray area there.

Korra’s villains weren’t just “beat the bad guy” obstacles. They were reflections of Korra’s own struggles and forced her to grow as a person. Each one left lasting consequences on the world too (Amon exposed inequality, Unalaq opened the spirit portals, Zaheer literally killed the Avatar cycle, Kuvira reshaped Earth Kingdom politics).

Meanwhile, Ozai gets defeated and the Fire Nation just… moves on. The world doesn’t really change because of him—it changes because of Zuko.

So yeah, The Last Airbender is still a masterpiece, but when it comes to villains? Legend of Korra takes the win for me.

My wife crafted both costumes from scratch (with the exception of Katara's water pouch and her boots). She also did my bald cap and makeup.

I've wanted to be Aang since I was in middle-school/high-school. Some 20 years ago. I turned my wife into a fan during the pandemic. I've been trying to convince her of dressing up as Aang and Katara since. And after the new movie came out she said we could pull it off for Halloween this year.

A bit or a dream come true for me. Ngl.

Discussion was Rangi the only one whose topknot being cut forcefully by someone?

Thumbnail

in the chapter Farewell, Rangi's top-knot was cut by Jianzhu and this make her horrified and ashamed to be seen by Kyoshi with appearance like that.

It reminds me the scene in The Last Samurai when modernized Imperial Soldier forced Nobutada (son of Katsumoto) kneeled and he hacked his samurai topknot. i imagine the pain and the shame that Nobutada had was as as same as Rangi felt when her topknot being cut by someone.

to samurai, topknot is a symbol of honor and a signature that they are coming from warrior class. When samurai cut their topknot willingly, it is a sign that they denounce their status as warrior. They either work as a farmers or become monks.

But the act cutting topknot forcefully by someone, is either a punishment commited by authority or humiliation engaged by the enemy.

Discussion Are the best benders females? (Non Avatar)

Post image
5.3k Upvotes

If you look at it from an interesting perspective, all the best and most gifted single element (non avatar) benders are women

Azula: Fire

Toph: Earth

Katara: Water

Jinora: Air

Or do u have a different opinion?

¬ Pic by "Princess-Katara💙💙💙" on Pinterest

Edit: I don't know how a discussion about ATLA somehow turned into dissecting my choice of words but to respond I'm not an english native speaker so I didn't know the cultural difference between using "female" or "women" I was just trying get my point across. I can't correct the title, so can we go back to the main topic!

Discussion Something I Noticed About The Show Titles

The first show was called The Last Airbender, or in international dubs, The Master Of The Elements. Neither of these titles specify that it's about Aang, it's about the last living air nomad and the Avatar respectively, Aang just happens to hold both titles. The show's main theme was the responsibilities that come with these titles.

The second show was called Legend Of Korra, making it very clear who the main character is. The main theme was identity.

Now, I haven't had the chance to watch what's out of Seven Havens yet, so this might be obvious to someone more up to date. The title is a collection of places. Is it (either already or going to be) about the world?

Question Am I allowed to ask for your opinions??

Hey everyone, I’m Jeremy and I’m new to this subreddit and pretty much Reddit in general lol. I have a question for you guys. So I have the four original bending nations tattooed on me. There’s some empty space and wanted to know how you would go about getting The Order of the White and Red Lotus symbols in the empty space I’m talking about? I would like to incorporate both of them, but don’t know how to go about it. I would appreciate your feedback pretty please and TIA. 🫶🏻☺️
