MEGATHREAD Record Apps & Tools Megathread: Share Your Projects, Find Testers, and Give Feedback

We’ve seen an increase in posts from people building record-related apps and tools. These include collection managers, listening trackers, discovery tools, marketplace helpers, and other projects aimed at record enthusiasts.

We want to give these projects a place to be shared without letting individual promotional posts overwhelm r/vinyl or the reason this sub exists. Going forward, please use this megathread to introduce your project, request testers, share meaningful updates, or ask for feedback. Separate promotional posts for these projects will be removed and redirected here.

Projects are welcome whether they are traditionally coded, developed with AI assistance, or fully vibe coded. Be transparent about your approach, and keep the discussion focused on what the tool does, how it works, and whether it is useful to the record owning community.

If you’re sharing a project, please include:

·       Name and link: What is it called, and where can people find it?

·       Purpose: What does it do? What problem does it solve?

·       Your involvement: Are you the developer, owner, contributor, or otherwise affiliated?

·       Availability and cost: Is it a prototype, beta, or released product? Is it free, paid, ad-supported, or subscription-based?

·       Development approach: Was it traditionally coded, AI-assisted, or primarily vibe coded? A brief description is enough.

·       Data and permissions: Does it require an account, collection access, third-party credentials, or other personal information? Explain what you collect and how it is used. If user data is sent to an AI service, disclose that.

·       Feedback wanted: What would you like people to test or comment on? Include known limitations.

A few ground rules:

·       Keep projects relevant to records, collecting, or the vinyl listening experience.

·       Use one top-level comment per project. Add updates and answer questions in that comment’s replies.

·       No repeated sales pitches, unsolicited promotional messages, disguised advertising, or requests to upvote.

·       Be accurate about features, security, and reliability. Clearly identify unfinished or experimental projects.

·       Do not ask users to post passwords, API keys, or other sensitive information in the thread.

·       All subreddit rules still apply.

For anyone trying these tools:

Sharing a project here does not mean the r/vinyl moderators have reviewed or endorsed it. Review costs, permissions, and privacy practices before signing up or connecting your collection.

Useful feedback is encouraged. Discuss features, usability, accuracy, privacy, and reliability. Questions about AI use are fair, but personal attacks and arguments about who counts as a “real developer” are not.

If you find an app is not accurately representing what it does, what it collects, how it uses shared data, is somehow malicious or any number of other concerns, please message the Mod Team with a link to relevant comment.

Compilation How is this album even legal?

Girl Talk - Feed The Animals

Picked this up recently and I’m kind of obsessed with it. It’s like playing a continuous game of Name That Tune. Personal favorite moments are Jay-Z mixed with Paranoid Android, the Havin’ a Roni drop, and the perfect combination of NIN, MC Hammer, and Kelly Clarkson.

How did this even get pressed? It’s not a bootleg I don’t think.

12" 1969 RSO Records. Controversial album cover, so I decided to self censor with a deluxe edition of the CD. Supergroup composed of Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Ginger Baker, and Rick Grech. Standout track, Can't Find My Way Home.

Haul Found some Blue Note 78s! Includes one of the earliest releases from 1939!

Here’s another big highlight from the 78 haul I had recently. I was looking in the shelves that were labeled, and I ran across one that perked my interest called “Blue Note 78s”. I was able to pull out 6 Blue Note 78s from the section, and they are all very early releases on the label. This includes probably the earliest 10 inch 78, which is Weary Land Blues from 1939 (there are 12 inch 78s that are earlier, but this is the earliest 10 inch). None of these are the later Bebop 78s and are on the Dixieland/swing end of things, but they are still unimaginably cool to find!

Bad ass new pick up in pretty much perfect condition! 7” record but plays at 33 rpm, not 45.

As a toddler dad, I also enjoy owning some physical CC without worrying about my kid seeing their album artworks 😂

Ever since I was introduced to Janis Joplin via “I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama!” I’ve been enthralled by her vocals and have been on the look out for her music in the wild ever since. So I was floored when the album that caught my eye with its artwork by R. Crumb at the Half Price Books near me was none other than the first featuring Joplin herself prior to going solo. Such a cool find!!

My friend turned me onto this album as a teen. Last month I found it for 6 bucks used at a local record shop in surprisingly pristine condition after a spin clean.

Got some music suggestions for a more psychedelic experience from my music. These came out as the most compatible suggestions for my music taste. Just one comment about the previous post. What's the deal with Ween, they're bloody terrible, why they so popular with Reddit users 😂

Possibly not underrated but i really really enjoy this record, even the album cover is incredible to me. Lots of jazz elements too from quincy's earlier work seeps into this album. A lot of the sounds and producing techniques would end up on thriller too.

Collection Anyone else here collect Ukrainian vinyl? 🇺🇦

I’ve gotten pretty deep into collecting Ukrainian vinyl over the past few years and thought I’d share some of my collection.

I first got into Ukrainian music through attending Atlas Weekend Festival in Kyiv. I also spent time at clubs like Closer, K41 and Kureni, and discovered more electronic artists at the Vibronica and Ickpa festivals. Those experiences got me digging further into Ukrainian music, and eventually well beyond electronic stuff. I think Ukraine has one of the most underrated music scenes in Europe.

I’m up to around 45–50 Ukrainian releases now, spanning electronic, experimental, indie rock, alternative and pop. Some favorites include ONUKA, The Hardkiss, Vivienne Mort, Dakh Daughters and Kazhanna.

A few highlights are the original red and white pressing of The Hardkiss’ Stones and Honey, the brown marbled ONUKA debut, Vidlik, and Dakh Daughters’ If. Finding some of these in the US takes a little digging, but I’ve had luck with Discogs and ordering directly from Ukrainian sellers. I also like being able to support Ukrainian artists, record shops and other businesses during such a tough time.

Anyone else here collecting Ukrainian records? Would love to see what you have and hear about artists or releases I should check out. Also curious where everyone is finding theirs.

Record Vinyl Haul while in Dublin Ireland

Names blocked for privacy

I was visiting my family in Ireland for the first time since I was a lil kid it was a magical experience to see my dads home country through my own eyes and not just through his and books I’ve read.

The Aslan record was a surprise from my Aunt from her own collection, it’s an album that despite how shitty my dad is, it’s one of the few untarnished memories I have with him.

Aslan is one of those bands where you can feel the emotions in your chest. In my opinion at least.

I feel the vinyl market is different in Europe than America mostly to availability I think. A lot of the records I’ve bought before visiting are printed in Poland.

I know I took advantage of deals but I tried doing the math and conversions, and I got more over in Ireland for less than what I would spent back home buying the same amount of lps of similar quality.

The shops I were in was Golden Discs in Dundrum

Then Mojos Music by Temple bar, small lil store but lots of selection. The shopkeeper also sells movies, art and books.

Alt-Rock Bandwagonesque is the album that beat Nevermind for Spin’s Album of the Year in 1991

Post image

In late 1991, while grunge was detonating and every magazine was scrambling to crown Nevermind as album of the year, Spin went with Teenage Fanclub’s Bandwagonesque instead. Spin wasn't wrong IMO.

This is the Scottish band’s third album (Creation in the UK, DGC in the US), and it’s pure, unapologetic power-pop/jangle filtered through a slightly scruffy Glasgow lens. Three songwriters—Norman Blake, Gerard Love, and Raymond McGinley—trading lead vocals and stacking those ridiculous harmonies. Producer Don Fleming basically told them “you guys can do harmonies, so do them,” and the rest is history. It sounds like Big Star finally got a proper sequel (critics still call it “Big Star’s 4th”), mixed with Byrds jangle, Beach Boys melodies, and a bit of Neil Young’s ragged edge, but with its own warm, slightly lazy charm.

Bandwagonesque didn’t reinvent the wheel. It just made the wheel sound better than almost anyone else was managing in 1991. While everyone else was either drowning in noise or chasing the next scene, TFC made a record full of sincere, slightly goofy love songs and massive melodies. Kurt Cobain called them “the best band in the world.” Liam Gallagher later ranked them second only to Oasis. Ben Gibbard (Death Cab) loved it so much he recorded a full-album cover and still calls it his favorite record by his favorite band.

I still love it.

My full collection.

If you are a Phil fan and don’t know about this live album grab it or stream a listen of it. It really grabs his vocals in a live environment really well.
