Prog-Rock Angine de Poitrine, Volume One: Apparently they garner a lot of polarizing views; but I honestly find them quite enjoyable.

Prog-Rock After Getting Ghosted Twice I Spent Date Money on Records

I've been pretty depressed and anhedonic this weekend after a second bumble date agreed to go out and then vanished the day of. This makes for two Saturdays in a row this happened. So I went to several record stores Saturday and Sunday and spent probably what one date costs on vinyl.

Also my new pressing of the quake soundtrack came in this past week. Not counting Quake, about what my last date that showed up cost (she also stopped replying to texts but at least she showed up for the date... people are savages in this town)

Prog-Rock It took me so long to find this damn album

I found Tubular Bells in a used record section a few days ago. I've been looking for it for months. It was 7 dollars and it sounds great, actually. I never listened to this album before playing this record so I was really excited.

Prog-Rock Roger Dean cover art. If you cut the 1970's, it would bleed Roger Dean.

United Artists Records release of Hawkwing. Runout UGA 29766 A 20(?). Unsure about the carve initials.

Found at Batcave Vinyl. It was a pretty penny but worth it.

I was at a local record store and found what looks like a 1969 pressing of In the Court of the Crimson King for $6! I haven't had a chance to play the record yet but it looks pretty scratched up, but even if it doesn't play that well I'm stoked to have the original artwork. I've wanted a copy of this album since I started collecting, and I think this is probably the coolest way to finally get it!

Prog-Rock Let’s just say that I have a love/hate/love relationship with FZ

My girlfriend’s opinion is a little more straightforward.

Even when I’m occasionally not in the mood for the wackiness known as Zappa, I love the graphic design on all of these albums.

These are my prog (and adjacent) records. These are mostly US, UK, and JPN pressings. I love the cover art of prog albums, especially when it's a gatefold.

Prog-Rock Supertramp deserves way more respect

Post image

Spinning Crime of the Century today and I genuinely think Supertramp is one of the most underrated bands from the classic rock era. Not obscure at all, obviously, but somehow they rarely get mentioned in the same breath as Floyd, Zeppelin, The Who, etc., and this album honestly deserves to be in that conversation.

The thing that gets me is how complete this record feels. The songwriting is incredible, but the production and arrangements elevate everything even more. It has prog elements, but never disappears into endless technical flexing. Every song actually feels emotional and purposeful.

“School” is one of the best album openers ever made. “Hide in Your Shell” hits harder every time I hear it. “Rudy” feels cinematic. And the title track is just unreal from beginning to end.

Also, this might be one of the best sounding classic rock records I’ve ever heard on vinyl. The dynamics, the separation, the atmosphere… there’s so much space in the mix without losing warmth. You can tell how much care went into every detail.

Albums like this remind me that Supertramp was way more than just “The Logical Song” and “Breakfast in America.”

Prog-Rock Pink Floyd - Meddle

Pink Floyd - Meddle

Fearlessly, the idiot faced the crowd, smiling

Merciless, the magistrate turns 'round, frowning

And who's the fool who wears the crown

Go down in your own way

I really love this album. Since it was more of a group effort starting with no material and fresh ideas it really showcases everyones writing and creative capabilities.

Don't get me wrong I love Wish You Were Hear and The Dark Side Of The Moon, but I also hate Roger Waters and love David Gilmour. I feel like on this album, since everybody had the freedom to do their own thing before Waters became the tyrant of the band, you can really tell who the better song writer and musician is. Gilmour just outclasses Waters

Prog-Rock After 8 years of tracking down this album, I finally have Pink Floyd's A momentary Lapse of Reason!

now, i am fully aware that not a lot of Floyd fans are not big fans of this album, they say it doesn't sound like the floyds at all, or it's sounds so outdated, even saying "No RoGeR nO flOyD." Me personally, i like this album, it's different vibe, but a good one at that. It sounds really good, even if it's a 2017 remaster. And the sound? I personally think it doesn't sound outdated, i grew up with the sound of the 80's (even though i'm a 2000's kid). Artists like Tears for Fear, Genesis, even Queen, me and my dad would rock with those bands on the car radio and the tv. So overall, i really like this album. It's different, but a good kind of different. Pink Floyd always have a distinct style pf sound for every album they put out, and this one is no exception. it's worth every peso i saved up for this album.

Saw this on an auction in a batch of mostly dollar value jazz. Punched a picture into Google which said it is super rare(100 copies) checked Discogs which shows little info. Thought it was cool looking and wonder if anyone has more info.

Prog-Rock Underrated Prog Album

Post image
106 Upvotes

I finally found a NM copy of this album which for me is one of the most underrated prog records. It's been hard trying to stop playing this over and over again.

Is this really that underrated though?

What other albums could be added to this "list"?
