Anyone redone Invisalign in Manhattan after their teeth shifted?

Did Invisalign a while back and my teeth have shifted again. Not a massive visible change, but enough that I’m thinking about another round. If you redid yours in Manhattan, what did you do differently the second time? same office or someone new? mostly wondering what you wish you’d asked before paying again.

Has anyone experience “Card Not Accepted” for the MTA? I’ve used my Apple Pay for years and it’s not working the last 3 days.

Note: it’s all my chase cards. Physical and Apple Pay. I called chase and they said they aren’t blocking any of my payments.

Pharmacies with ADHD meds?

I just moved here from CA this month and it’s been an absolute shit show trying to get my meds filled or even get healthcare anywhere. I called over 20 pharmacies today trying to get my meds refilled but it’s out of stock everywhere it seems, and not a single pharmacist seems to know when their next supply will come in.

Is it always like this? I’m rationing my meds but I’m starting to make some pretty bad mistakes at work. I’ve been on these meds since I was 14.

What’s your most memorable interaction with a tourist ?

Bonjour New York !! 😊

New York is one of the most touristy cities in the world, so I was wondering if you have any memorable stories about interactions you’ve had with tourists !
It could be a funny story, a weird interaction, or even a bad experience.
It doesn’t matter, as long as it left an impression on you. Tell me your stories ! 😊

By the way, i’m french from Paris and I just wanted to say that New York is my favorite place in the world ! 🥰
I’ve had the opportunity to visit three times, and every single time, I’ve felt so incredibly happy there.
( As a tourist, I’ve already had a funny experience here! I’ll share the story in the comments ! )

Ever since I was a little girl, my biggest dream has been to move here ! 🥰

Why are bike lanes such a controversial topic in a place like NYC?

I still don't get it. It was my dream to have them and I was part of the generation riding through traffic like hooligans because there was no alternative.

Now the congestion is years beyond terminal and bike lanes are controversial?

Why is it hard to find consistent candidate and voter ballot information/details here?

I consider myself pretty well informed politics wise and I vote in every election. However, I've noticed the information found online isn't consistent with what's on the actual ballot.

In the last election, despite extensive research, there were additional candidates and positions that were on my ballot (and due to the lack of mobile signal, it wasn't possible to look them up).

For this election, when looking up the candidates and sample ballots on the NYC Votes, the NYC Board of Elections, and Ballotpedia, I get different information on what's on the ballot from all three sites apart from the major positions.

Maybe I'm spoiled by California, where they mail out a very comprehensive booklet with a breakdown of every candidate, proposition, different organizations positions, impact, etc. (and there's a booklet for county candidates and propositions).

Yes there's a booklet that's mailed out here, but it feels very surface level and doesn't go into any detail (and I'm not going to lie, it was kind of tricky finding this pdf online). Even the website itself is surface level.

Why is this the case? It feels like a lot of friction and hostile here to learn about what's on the ballot and analysis. Idk, such a fundamental and basic right that's feels like a chore to research and learn. (I know it's much more hostile in other states, but still.)

NYC Therapy Finding an in-network therapist in nyc that actually has opening?

trying to find an individual therapist in the city who takes commercial insurance (aetna/cigna/united) feels impossible lately. psychology today directories are full of people who either don't respond, aren't taking new clients, or charge $250 out of pocket. are there any groups or practices that actually help match you without the endless email ghosting?

Knicks fans, was there a rivalry with the Nets when they were in New Jersey or is it bigger now since they're in Brooklyn?

I was curious because as a hockey fan, the rivalry between New Jersey and New York is big, the Devils and the Rangers are always intense matches, even between fans, but New Jersey tends to usually get the upper hand against New York, how was it usually like when the Nets were in jersey?

Fake plastic sword on Halloween at bars downtown?

Hi everyone,

So I'm planning to go just casually bar hopping (not to clubs) with some friends downtown on Halloween. I'm going dressed as a pirate, and I have this fake plastic sword (obviously fake-- spray painted gold and stuff) and I'm wondering if it's probably safe to assume I can walk into most random bars with it (just attached at my hip). If it helps I am a relatively petite young woman, so I don't think it will look at all intimidating. Anyone have experience with this kind of thing and know if it's likely to be allowed? We're probably not going to be going anywhere that charges a cover or anything.

What are some neighborhoods just to enjoy the Halloween vibe, but not a party vibe?

Hi all, this will be my first Halloween in NYC. I haven’t found a community or friends yet, so I’ll probably just enjoy Halloween by myself. I’m also not American, so I just want to experience the Halloween vibe like trick-or-treating and decorations, basically just walking around the area, but not a really loud or party vibe. Is there any neighborhood you recommend for me to just walk around?

I live in Forest Hills, Queens fyi, but open to any!

hair stylist that works with chemo / cancer survivors?

I am a 30something breast cancer survivor who finished chemo a year ago and am dealing with a gray, chemo curls, mullet situation. I had dark long, silky hair before chemo and really miss it!

I need a hair stylist in Brooklyn or Manhattan who has experience with cutting and coloring chemo hair. Bonus if they have experience with extensions and if they are not too expensive.

THANK YOU!

VERY beginner run club recommendations?

After a very serious medical event in my family a few weeks ago, I want to start improving my health.
I’m 25M and have really never ran before, but I would like to try and start. To be totally honest, my conditioning and endurance isn’t great (which is one thing I really want to improve) so I’m worried about pacing and keeping up with the group.

I want to focus both on improving my help and getting out and meeting new people, so I’d prefer a social aspect to the club as well. I’m flexible on location and time of day

Mice advice

TLDR: I have set out traps, had an exterminator come, keep my apartment clean, and still dealing with mice over the last ~4 weeks. Any and all advice is appreciated.

Some details:

I live >10 floors up in a building built in the last 5 years in BK. Havent had any issues at all but early October, we spotted our first mouse in the kitchen.

Oct 8: Our super came and plugged up holes.

Oct 12: Returned from a weekend trip and found a ton of mouse poop. Clearly still had an issue.

Oct 16-17: Our super came and plugged more holes. He covered everything he could think of.

Oct 18: Found tons of more new mouse poop every time we left the apartment.

Oct 20: Our building hired an exterminator who came and couldn’t find any more holes to plug after thoroughly reviewing the apartment. He left us some traps and poison.

No sightings for roughly one week until this morning when we found a ton of new mouse poop.

I suspect there is a hole that they couldn’t find that mice are re entering through given we didnt see any activity for a week. we’ve been putting down all sorts of traps regularly. I bought doorstops. what else can I do?? any advice appreciated. it’s driving us nuts

Where to find affordable hiking gear?

I want to get into hiking (I am a SUPER beginner), but all the gear looks to be expensive and I’m not even sure if I’ll love it. I have Thursday and Friday off from work lol, so does anyone have any recs?

For context, this is a “beginner-friendly” hike about 4 hrs long in Cold Springs? I don’t have hiking shoes or a bookbag or any gear at all (I don’t think).

I don’t mind taking a trip deeper into the boroughs :)

Edit: the trail is actually the Palisades Trail in Orangetown, about 6.3 miles with 500 ft elevation

Best spots to sell handmade glass art on Halloween (not Washington Square)?

I’m an art student and I blow glass. I want to set up a small table this Saturday to sell glass pumpkins I made. A friend is already selling at Washington Square, so I want to stay away from that area per their request.

Where gets good foot traffic on Halloween and is chill about artists setting up? I’m also open to shops, cafés, or markets that would let me set up last minute.

Daylight Savings and public transit

How does daylight savings work for public transportation? Like if I needed to take a bus in Brooklyn around 1:50 to make it to the Jamaica LIRR at 2:40 would I wait for the clocks to reset and go at the second 1:50?

Why is voting so archaic in NYC?

In CA voting is soooo easy. Everyone gets a mail-in ballot by default, you can drop them off at any mailbox or thousands of ballot drop boxes, and if you want to vote in person, you can do so anywhere in your registered county, and you can decide whether to vote by mail or in person right up until Election Day. Not to mention, everyone gets a detailed booklet explaining everything that will be on the ballot, candidate statements, explanations and analysis of all the props, weeks in advance so you can familiarize yourself with the issues

Here you only get a mail in ballot if you request it two weeks early, and if you don’t, you have to vote in person at a single specific polling location? And NY had a chance to get universal vote by mail in 2021 and rejected it?

/rant

But for real making voting easy and accessible is such a key part of a healthy functioning democracy.
