Hi again r/jerseycity. A month ago I posted a map of local events. The project has changed quite a lot since then. Please give it a look!
I also put every Halloween event I could find on one page: https://jcmaps.com/#w=all&theme=halloween (UPD: fixed the link)
Right now it's >60 events for kids and adult only, today through Sunday.
A few personal picks for the rest of the week:
Wed
- Lizzie Borden at Art House, 7:30 PM. An abstract dance piece: classical ballet, true crime, gay club culture and slasher-film final girls. The strangest thing on the list, in a good way.
- Write with FRIGHTS at Departed Soles, 7 PM, $10. A horror writing workshop with prompts and beer; non-writers welcome, sharing optional.
Thu
- Suspiria at the library's Creative Arts Center, 6 PM, free, popcorn provided. Argento's 1977 original, on a library screen.
- LSC After Dark: Covens, 6–10 PM, 21+. The science center after hours, for grown-ups only.
Fri
- Library of Shadows at the main library, 7–11 PM, 21+. A DJ, costume contest and drinks inside the library; it's a $100 fundraiser for the library foundation, so not cheap, but when else do you dance in there.
- Haunted Halloween at The Factory, 9 PM–2:30 AM, 21+. Bollywood and Tollywood DJ sets.
Sat
- Haunted JC 5K at the Colgate Clock, 9 AM, 1-mile fun run at 9 and the 5K at 10. Costumes on the waterfront.
- Fall Pumpkin Workshop at Atacama Clay Studio, 12:30 PM. Hand-build and carve a clay jack-o'-lantern that won't rot by Tuesday.
The big obvious ones are there too (the Lincoln Park parade, the Newark Ave family bash, Fall Fest at 902 Brewing, the trunk-or-treats).
If you know a party, a trunk-or-treat or a haunted house that isn't there, a photo of the flyer is enough: tap + at the bottom of the map. Or tell me in the comments.
Happy Halloween, and feedback is still welcome.
