I think constantly how Alice in wonderland is terrifying .

Its about a girl, where She is the only sane one. Everyone is insane Because she's different they assume she is insane..

I get it, I smoked pot when younger. But I don't understand people who like it when its Really a Horrifying revelation which happens in social psychology, often. Your world is "This". You come up to something against, That. Therefore, That Thing, Bad .

Everything, from kingdoms, to rudimentary racism, to religion, War. Even debate on ethics could use or relate to this .. its Horrifying. Basis for most human psychology behavior through history.

You come against something different than what you know that thing is bad, barbaric. Not sane.. Why. Why are they different, why do they act, behave that way.. oh they're " insane " .

Its horrifying, because anyone could be in one of these bubbles at any time and never know.. Because your bubble shows you, This Way. All you know, people, friends, fam, algorithm, showed you This . When you think you Know, This. Anything against that.. insane. They're crazy, wrong. Basically any bubble you live in could be wrong. But you're Very sure, it isn't.. the Other person is insane not conforming to You. that, is a terrifying thought.

What prevents that, qell looking at things logically, but when logic fails. Logic isn't part of the other person's world. Everything can become lost which is where things like war can start.. theu have a different framework of What is Logical, isn't tied up in fact, but facts twisted to fit a frame they live in.. which is why scientific things can be manipulated to fit the society opinion. A slave, Constantly wanting to Run away way seen as mental illness.. That. Insane, wanting to flee from hardship or abuse seen as wrong. Insane.. but it Waant for the time. Theu had to make something fit the framework of why they would.. "they're crazy '. Alice in wonderland. It was wrong yeah, everyone saw it as okay though kept making uo reason why til we got to now. Where its scientifically Proven black people aren't biologically less intellegent.. but the aftermath stayed from this bubble. This could be happening Now, and we don't even know it..

Science was Heavily tied in religion for a Long time.. anything going against set forms of 'known ' science went against religion. Galileo was almost burned at the steam for saying the earth went around the sun.. everyone thought he was insane, blasphemous .

Both situations, manipulating science, for society, one in religious belief. Another in racial prejudice dor cheap labor. Religion Itself, Christianity, catholics, manipulated religion to keep masses docile.. which partly was the separation of protestants.. they wanted to be able to Read, their Own bibles. Church said that was blasphemous.. Only a priest could interpret the world of God. Catholics, weren't allowed to own a bible. Theres time and time again, of people either purposely, or unintentionally being caught or caused a bubble where anything Not This, was insane. Terrible etc . Catholics were kept in a bubble, where the religion was Mandatory but they only got information from church leader, thats the only way they really knew what was even in the Bible ..protestants, wanted to read it themselves ..

..as well individual bubbles. Your personal belief, what, or how you think the world should be. Could be wrong but backed up by those around you thinking that, and your algorithm enforcing it. Your main way to the world just showing your own back at you.. It's terrifying because access to less restricted information often prevents the bubble. Were seeing less of that..

Every time, acess to more free information, not constricting science to fit society at the time, could've kept these from happening

So, what do you do.. now ..

Travel. Maybe.. travel outside your country. Outsode of resorts, Meet people, people with different opinions and Don't stay in the same place all your life. Thats a sure way to get in a bubble . And try to listen to Not angry perspectives on someone opposing to you. If you can find someone not angry in opposing belief, you might break a bubble ..thing is everyones so angry these days, so how do you find a golden goose .. who knows

Does anyone else expierence this as a whole? Not just in the fundamental sense?

I can't include everything as it's too long and often don't receive much response, so here are some of the main points.

I struggle with motivation, but I don’t think laziness completely explains it. I can understand why I need to do something, recognize that I’m capable of doing it, and even imagine how it could benefit my future, yet still feel little desire to actually follow through.

Most of my motivation comes from curiosity or the fear of immediate consequences. If something interests me, I’ll explore it until I’ve satisfied my curiosity, and then I usually move on. If something has consequences, I’ll often put it off until those consequences feel close enough to matter. Long-term rewards, like having a stable future, make sense to me intellectually, but they don’t create much excitement or motivation.

Sometimes I think I’m just lazy. I know I could complete an assignment, but I don’t feel like doing it, so I find an easier way to get it over with. Other times, I wonder if it’s because I don’t see much of a point in doing things in the first place. I can imagine having a successful, comfortable life, but I don’t necessarily imagine myself feeling fulfilled by it.

I’ve also spent a lot of time thinking about the meaning of life, identity, and whether anything is genuinely worthwhile. I don’t know how much that influences my motivation, but sometimes ordinary responsibilities feel insignificant when I consider the bigger picture. I can recognize that I need money, education, and some form of stability without feeling particularly driven to pursue them.

I don’t feel like I have a consistent passion or goal that gives me direction. I mostly follow whatever interests me in the moment, and when that interest fades, I often stop. I’m also somewhat detached from my surroundings and from the idea of my own future, which might contribute to why things don’t feel as important as I know they are. I don’t know whether this is laziness, difficulty initiating and sustaining tasks, a lack of purpose, emotional detachment, or some combination of those things.

I don’t actually know what I feel toward my parents most of the time.
Not in the dramatic, continuous way people seem to expect. I can say I don’t want them harmed, that part is solid enough, but beyond that it gets thin. If they’re just living their lives, doing whatever, existing in the same house or the same world as me without anything urgent happening, they start to feel like… people. Just people. There’s no automatic pull, no constant undercurrent of warmth or dread or attachment that stays switched on.

The only times something sharper shows up is when one of two things is true: either they’re in some kind of danger or emotional freefall and I feel the old reflex to keep them safe, or they’re actively giving me comfort, fun, or that familiar sense of being settled. Outside those windows it fades. I can be sitting right there with them, even feel something in the moment, and then it’s like I blink and the feeling is gone—replaced by this clinical distance where I’m just observing the interaction instead of living inside it. They start to feel more like a memory I’m still near than people I’m currently bound to.

I stick around because it’s what I’m used to, because the routines are known, because on some level I still want them to feel okay. But if I’m honest, a lot of the time it doesn’t feel like love in the continuous, self-generating sense. It feels more like response. Like I react when the situation calls for it, and the rest of the time I can turn my attention away without much internal resistance. I’m not sure whether that means the feeling was never that deep, or whether it just got worn down into something quieter and more conditional. Either way, I can’t pretend the steady, always-on version is there when it isn’t.

The sexual version of the domination isn’t some separate kink I can cleanly label. It’s the same need for asymmetry and consequence, just running hotter and more specific. With men it usually starts from a baseline of discomfort—especially faces with facial hair, the ones that read as authority or threat. Being alone talking feels off; the body registers them as something that could dominate me socially or physically, so the fantasy flips it. Reduction, emasculation, forced reframing, watching the role collapse. It’s rough and concrete. Sometimes I’m the one imposing it, sometimes I’m the one under it, but either way there’s an ideal woman running in the background of the scene, like the real target of the desire has to be held at a distance while the male body supplies the friction and the stakes.

With women it’s different. The charge is less about neutralizing a threat and more about possession and directed access. Knowing the body is under control while the mind might still be separate. Changing someone’s trajectory, especially if they carry some weight of purity, strength, or narrative importance. Ordinary mutual desire often feels thin or unavailable, so the erotic charge shifts toward power and reaction instead. Physical pleasure is there, but it’s rarely the whole point; the point is that something is happening *to* them and I can feel the shape of it.

None of this is something I act on. The restraints are practical and immediate; consequences for me, consequences for the few people I actually protect. The fantasies stay internal or fictional. But they don’t feel disgusting the way they’re supposed to. What registers instead is interest, intensity, sometimes pleasure. The moral framing other people treat as automatic just doesn’t light up the same way.
That’s the same pattern that shows up with empathy outside my immediate circle. I can understand someone else’s pain intellectually.

I can even behave compassionately when I’m in the room and can’t leave, or when helping lets me feel like I’ve altered a trajectory. But the visceral, continuous pull that seems to drive other people is mostly absent. Distant victims often leave me indifferent. Strong moral language from them can even irritate me, because it feels like they’re being handed a ready-made narrative and a community of support that never quite arrives for the way I experience things.

Stories of harm, especially sexual harm, can register as charged or interesting in the abstract; the same events happening to someone right in front of me usually just produce the socially expected performance or a quiet urge to leave. Unless it's an emotional reaction I register to that of a wounded animal, in which case empathy may arrive as all other justifications have been vacant, replaced by the immediate thought of "this hurts, make it stop." But even then, it may or may not show up. In older men and women it may arrive, but with those my age or younger, it's not much of a detractor.

Inside the small circle it’s different. Protectiveness shows up. Softness shows up when the distress is raw and adult and stripped of justification. Outside that circle the default is thinner: limited feeling, mild irritation at the scripts, an absence of compulsion. I know how that reads; It reads like coldness, like narcissism, like something broken. I’m not sure it’s any of those things in the clean diagnostic sense. It’s just what the internal machinery actually does when the person isn’t already inside the narrow set of people who still register as real to me.

I'm starting to realize that being an adult is mostly figuring things out as you go

I used to think that by the time I reached adulthood, I'd have a better idea of what I was doing with my life. I thought I'd feel more confident, have things figured out, and know what direction I was heading in. But honestly, it feels like I'm just learning as I go. Some days I feel like I'm making progress, and other days I feel like I'm falling behind, even when I'm trying my best.

One thing I've realized is that nobody really prepares you for how overwhelming the little things can become when they all pile up at once. Work, money, responsibilities, relationships, and trying to make time for yourself can feel like a lot to manage.

I guess I always imagined that there would be some point where everything would finally click and I'd feel like I had my life together. Now I'm starting to wonder if everyone is just figuring things out at their own pace and pretending they know what they're doing a little better than they actually do.

I'm curious how other people experience this. Did you eventually reach a point where you felt more settled in life, or is being an adult really just a continuous process of figuring things out?

I'm tired of being alive without being able to feel it.

I'm not sure how to explain it best, so I'll keep it brief, and if you have any questions, I'll answer them in the comments.

I can't do anything, nothing, without my mind questioning everything, without forcing me to leave it for later, without directly forcing me not to do it even if it's what I want most.

It's a long story, and as I write this I can feel my head telling me to stop writing, that it's pointless and that I'm wasting my time.

I want to live, I want to do what I love, but I can't even write without deleting over and over again.

.

I went to psychologists, they told me I'm fine, I don't need pills, treatment, nothing, maybe panic attacks...

I don't think panic has forced me to put everything off since I was 5.

I don't think it was panic that forced me to watch with guilt as my body and dreams deteriorated without being able to do anything.

It's my mind, my mind is the problem

I feel like I'm living in a cloud, I can't think clearly, everything is so hazy that I can't do anything, and if I try, my head forces me to stop and leave it for later.

The slightest thought about my future, my responsibilities, even my dreams, gives me a migraine that forces me to stop.

I know it's not me, I know I want to live, I want to be responsible, I want to be someone, but every professional I talk to tells me I have nothing wrong with me and I don't know what to do

There's a moment, maybe 20 minutes a month, when my mind clears, there's silence, there's no voice in my head punishing me, and everything becomes easy; out of nowhere, I'm the most productive person around.

My dreams, my responsibilities, everything becomes easy and within reach... Then out of nowhere it returns, and I'm clouded again, that voice forces me to stop and I become a waste once more

I want to create a universe, that's my dream. I've had that in my mind for years: characters, problems, endless stories, all stored in my mind.

It would be wonderful to be able to create something that children and adults enjoy, maybe make a comic, a series, a movie about it, to be able to empty my head into something like that, to create something

I want to be able to show it to people and have it become something they like, but I feel like I'm getting old, time is passing and I can't even look at myself in the mirror without feeling anger and despair.

I don't know if there's anyone like me who's found their solution, there must be someone, right?

Someone who has gone through the same thing, but was lucky enough that someone listened to them and was able to help them

Or perhaps not, and I am alone in this, like many others who die from the weight of their own heads full of unborn dreams.

I'll be checking back for comments for a while; maybe I'll delete this later and regret wasting my time thinking I have a solution. Thanks for reading.

Anti-depressants

I'm taking them, and it's been about a week and I'm starting to feel some effects already. But I can't help but think, is this just to make me happy among all the shitty things that there are? I remember being happy in the past but that was mainly because I expected to live a good life with how things were going for me. One day that all changed. Ever since then I've been struggling to feel good. I have good moments, but never a baseline of hapiness.

I guess things have changed, and I did do some stuff about my problems and I guess I'm happy I got this far already. But I don't nearly feel up to the task of getting into a relationship.

Forgot why I wrote this

Trying to grow my hair has been an expensive endeavor

Usually I keep my hair fairly short, idk maybe 5-6 inches on top? During covid I learned to do my sides and back and go in for a trim like every 7 months. I thought id let it grow out just for shits and giggles, maybe save some on haircuts

3 months in and ive spent more in the 3 months than in 2 years. Its also been a learning experience.

I learned there's a name for what ive always hated about my hair, high porosity hair.

Then theres the shampoos.. kerastase, bought 2 variants to try em out, one 90, the other 79ish?

There's the conditioner Moroccanoil that was like 70?

But hey my hair is shiny as hell and it looks really nice

But then I could be doing more ya know? Satin pillowcases, there goes 80.

Hair thingies? The ones that keep hair out of your face? 15 bucks.

Okay so atp i figured out how to deal with high porosity hair but now making it "lightweight" so i bought this 60 buck TINY ASS leave in kerastase conditioner to try there goes 56 bucks

Oh and theres the what was it called? Hair oil uhhh olaplex no.7 which is 40 i think

Conditioner is almost out so imma try that one olaplex one 60?

But im also been doing this because im beefing with coworker. Idk id call it beef, its more like a rivalry thing. Everything he does i go and one up him lmao. My hair 100% looks nicer im just waiting for the length

Ill probably chop it off after I get the length tbh. Too expensive and time consuming

'Outside' is feeling emptier everytime I go out and it makes me sad? Is it nostalgia or fear of an unknown future?

Disclaimer: I don't live in America . We aren't car dependent, and we don't have big buildings, so when we step out, it always felt like there was always a crowd. Public transportation, hospital corridors, malls, any kind of government office... you name it , it was never quiet , it was never empty.

Through the years, internet took over majority of that face to face work , you rarely have to go to a government office for paperwork anymore, shopping is mostly done via internet. Schools, work, so many of them became online. Friends and family can reach each other anytime through their phones, so no need to meet face to face...

Also people aren't having multiple kids anymore, if at all. My grandma had 6 kids, mom has 2, I have none. My grandma had 15 grandkids, my mom has 2.

I stopped going out as much as I used to, because I also don't need it either. Yesterday I had to, I had to go to a government office, then had a doctor's appointment, then went to a mall , took the public transportation, walked the streets.

It all felt unusually empty . Yes, it's calm, people aren't rushing, but it felt lifeless and sad to me.

I am single, childless and work from home, so I previously thought that my loneliness was personal, it seems like everywhere is getting quieter. Probably I am overreacting but for some reason I didn't like it.

Free tarot at my house

So, I have a tarot card deck that explains what each card means on it. I’m going to set it up with a table and a chair and pull one card for the parents (if they are interested) while their child gets candy. Good idea? Bad idea? Any improvements?

Did anyone else learn how to type on a keyboard in school?

I was born in 2001 and I remember being seven years old, going to the computer lab at my school and learning how to type.

We had educational programs that taught us stuff like resting our fingers on the home row, using the little nubs on the F and J keys for our index fingers, etc.

Was it boring? Extremely. But in hindsight, I’m very glad I wasn’t raised on a touch screen.

It’s my birthday today, but I feel unusually sad. Why have I always felt this way on my birthday?

Today is my birthday, and for some reason, I feel really down. I can’t even fully explain why.

The strange thing is that, as far back as I can remember, I’ve almost always felt this way on my birthday. It’s supposed to be a happy day, but instead, I end up feeling sad, empty, or just disappointed for reasons I can’t quite put into words.

I don’t know if it’s the expectations I have for this day, the feeling of getting older, reflecting on my life, or something deeper that I haven’t figured out yet.

Does anyone else experience this? Have you ever wondered why your birthday makes you feel this way, even when nothing particularly bad has happened?

I’d really like to understand where this feeling comes from and why it seems to follow me every year

I feel betrayed

I’m not sure how valid my feeling is in a objective view so I could really use some insights from you. To me personally I feel betrayed and a knot in the stomach.

In the past couple of days I told a friend of mine a business idea. He was pretty enthusiastic, and I guess he really likes the idea.

Now a couple days later he mentioned he is working on the idea I shared, already has a name for it etc. But didn’t consider asking me anything or including me in any process.

I felt like a boundary was violated because we have been friends who hang out daily, and when I’m open and sharing I didn’t expect something like this could happen.

Now of course, he can pursue the business, that side is all fine, he is a free man. The thing that hurts me is that I feel like a trust is broken. And I don’t know what the right attitude for this would be.

I will share my feelings, I think that is fair to stay loyal to myself. But not sure how the dynamic of the friendship should look. What would you do in such a situation? And is betrayal an exaggerated feeling (I can be sensitive)?

Bullies disguised as ‘professors’

F(25) study in a dental college.
Department of endodontics , of my college is a BIG BULLY. Each and every staff there bullies students. I and few other batchmates were having a bad day today and just wanted help from professors, literally all of us were on a verge of breakdown (anyone could tell from our faces), we went there so they could guide us, i regret going there because of what they did. They bullied us with some nasty remarks like ‘you’re ugly atleast study well’ ‘no one will pass you in exams you look this ugly’ ‘atleast take bath’ , they went on to pressurise a fellow batchmate to show the reels he posts on Instagram, mocked and laughed at his account. One of a male faculty, grabbed my arm and shook me agressively and said ‘look at your hair, looks like you dont even wash your face’, my hair was in a bun and just a strand of my hair was out. He then goes on to mock me saying ‘do you even understand anything? Make her understand ma’am (said this to another staff) , i dont think she gets it’. Then started asking about my father’s profession. This went on for good 40 minutes, they judged us, laughed at us, made nasty remarks.
I was on the verge of crying, i have not been doing mentally well, all of this that has happened today is 1 % of what i have been suffering in college, but today is the first time i feel like ending my life, it never gets better

Constant anxiety from feeling like im not doing enough

I am 25 years old awaiting admission to the bar although my law degree feels useless in the third world country im from. I do have a job though, an internship where im paid $250 per month.

I don't feel motivated by a life of employment so I've been learning to trade forex.. Its the only thing that gives me hope but everyday I feel like im so behind especially because I cant wven afford to have my own place ans financially manage my own life yet on paper, there are no boxes left to tick I just feel like I cant get through to the good life.. Like im blocked and trading will be my only way out.

I can't keep working at my job

I'm almost 2 months in at my current job and I don't think I can keep up with it. It's so demanding, anxiety inducing, and makes my symptoms worse. I was trying to stick around because it pays more than I've ever made.

I don't know what to do. I can quit and downgrade to part time in some other job with way less stress, but I'd feel like a failure for not being able to handle a career.

The stress makes things worse. I keep hearing them talk while I'm trying to focus on the job.

I did say I have a disability on my job application but I don't want to tell them what I have. I think I have to quit my job.

I feel like I let everyone down. I have a computer science degree and I can't even work in tech without having a mental breakdown.

Why Must I Have a Defective Brain

It is safe to say that I have lost the ability to think critically and solve problems over the past three years. My brain just feels like mush when I try to comprehend a topic and what I learn just evaporates immediately from my head. I feel so slow and stupid all of the time, not to mention feeling extremely on edge with anxiety. This anxiety produces a feedback loop, making me feel more stupid when i’m talking to people due to the stuttering and pregnant pauses. It ‘s at the point where I just want people to leave me alone. I can’t even bring myself to learn to drive as I feel it is too much for my brain to handle, which makes me feel more defective.

It could be lack of sleep or stress perhaps but I just can’t seem to get to bed early enough to fuel my brain, I have to stay awake until a certain time before I feel tired.

What is wrong with me?

For the past year, I've had the following (I'm 24):

- constant worries about my health and my parents and sister (specifically around ALS and cancer)

- hyper aware of symptoms and conscious monitoring and googling that I can't stop

- intrusive dreams about becoming a quadriplegic (or someone in my family) where I wake up shaking

- getting anxious about stuff like whether my twin's credit card will get approved and then when it does worrying about it getting lost in the mail

- replaying social interactions where I was socially awkward and trying to assure myself I didn't offend anyone

- after i leave the house I was babysitting at, I become concerned that the child passed in their sleep and wait until I get the call from them or police (ex. toddler brought a piggy bank into bed, I took it out and no coins spilled, but what if one did and she choked?)

- scared that my parents will stop breathing in their sleep or that they'll go into cardiac arrest and I won't be home

- suspicious when things are going well, feeling like something bad is going to happen

- anticipatory grief about my parents dying

Im very curious about your opnion on this situation!

I have always had a very good life. Ever since i have been young, my family has given me everything i have ever wanted. So why do i feel so sad and feel like i lack the attention that i truly want? I never thought of making a reddit account until now and im sitting here writing this wondering if this is truly worth the time. I have never been fond of reading tweets and reading in general so here i go. When i was younger my family always made sure that they gave me everything i had asked for. Although my mom did not have a lot of money, she still made sure me and my sister had stuff. For some odd reason, i slowly drifted off and felt like i was not worth being there. If i can remember, these thoughts started when i was about 10 years old. This is also the time that I learned that i could tal to people online and tell them about my thoughts and feelings. I ended up online dating and nothing bad came out of it. Yes we would break up and i would be a little sad but i got over it. I also made some real friends along the way as i played roblox. I had many friendgroups, relationships, and even online "parents" i could look up to. In real life i was very normal and i would say popular so i was not sure why i was so weird. After my mom stopped paying attention to me and focussed more on my sister, i started learning about subcultures like shtwt, edtwt, and nsfw things like yaoi and porn. I also started talking to people way older than me and they would get me things on royale high and other roblox games. After that "era" was over, i moved to discord and joined problematic servers which got BOTH of my accounts banned. I know that is a good thing but after being in such egative communities for so long i feel that i had no one to talk to once my two accounts got deleted. I also started hardcore cutting myself as a way to cope.I am now older and still feel that i am not enough. I feel that i am ADDICTED to things that can ruin my future.

Has anyone else had the same problems or can they relate? i just really want to have someone be able to tell me what i should do. I have als started anxiety medication not too long ago and it has helped but what are things i can do in day to day life to make me feel better.

You should be both overwhelmingly emotional and detatched in your life

Be emotional when it comes to love, when it comes to showing appreciation or gratitude towrads the ones you love. Be feeling when it comes to loss or sorrow or pain. Be felling when you need to be.

Be detatched when it comes to your work or responsibilities. As in act like a robot, you do things you don't like to do sometimes and you do them like you love em.

I find this simplifies life and makes even the hardest parts enjoyable yk?

When texting I sometimes mistakenly spell some simple words wrong. I don't understand my brain. Is like it moves so fast than my fingers. Missing words in between sentences etc. And when texting you don't have the luxury to proofread every single sentence before sending especially on WhatsApp.

I once made a simple mistake when texting with a friend. I mistakenly spelt a super simple word wrong. I didn't catch it early to be corrected by this guy. Someone I perform better than in school. I was so embarrassed!!!

I hate the department of disabilities

I'm not a wealthy person, I'm not even upper middle income, my step son is 100% non-verbal, breaks all normal furniture, and has many expensive needs. Many of these departments are completely corrupt, they deny assistance for everything under policies that demand an insurance denial except respite care and diapers. What if your insurance has a 4000$ dollar deductible, but doesn't deny something? The department of disabilities DGAF.

They on paper award you money, knowing you can rarely use it. If you don't put your child in respite care because you have 3 others and it would be even more work to drive him there, and you worked 5 years potty training him, you don't qualify for anything. They literally take from my disabled child, to help subsidize medicaid for disabled children, even though the state is forced to pay for said children no matter what.
