I've been teaching myself AI and automation for about 3 years. I post my journey on LinkedIn, and that's how a mid-size healthcare company in Europe found me and DM'd me.
I built them a voice AI system that's now in production, handling 1,000+ calls a day. They pay me $1,300/month for maintenance, which is a lot of money here. Now they want me to improve it drastically so they can pitch it to much bigger clients.
The honest part: I built it with heavy help from AI tools. It works, but I don't deeply understand complex voice AI architecture. I'm past being a pure vibecoder, but I'm not an expert either.
Other context:
I opened a US LLC and I cold call US small businesses myself, but I'm not great at it. Plans I am selling are $100 / $300 / $500 per month.
I hired an appointment setter. She booked 7 demos, 1 said, 1 needs time, other are no show and in que, then today she left. I'm hiring a new one.
Current revenue outside the main client: 0$.
I'm planning to study abroad next year (Ireland, Poland or the Netherlands) and I'm preparing for IELTS.
Almost all my income is this one client, and I've never had a job, so if it ends I have little else to show.
People in my community who are good at sales are scaling no code voice AI agents in about 6 months. That makes me think sales matters more than tech right now when AI can do all that technical stuff.
What would you do in my place?
- Learn sales hard and scale the agency to US small businesses, using the main client as proof.
- Go deep on voice AI engineering and become properly technical, aiming for a job abroad.
- Something else?
I'd especially like to hear from people who've built a service business or worked in voice AI.
