Player Discussion I hope we can all appreciate QB1 a little bit more now

Tanner McKee ain't it. I know I've seen a ton of slander anytime Jalen isn't perfect but Tanner is awful. He's one of the most inaccurate passers I've seen and doesn't have that deep ball threat. This man is the franchise for the next 10 years and reverting should be built around him. Hopefully we don't see any more, "giVe TaNeR a sHoT!!1" when we have a 3 and out. Tanner's has had 1 good preseason and this sub acts like he's a replacement for a superbowl MVP.

Get well soon QB1!

You know things are bad when Nick Foles, who is typically constructively critical but optimistic, is now talking like this.

Say what you want about whether Saquon should have played. But in a game where our season was at a major crossroads, he suited up and tried to power through with sheer will power. The same can’t be said for our defense minus Quinyon. Saquon showed what our defense is desperately lacking. Will power.

We're 2-5, injured offense playing with backups, QB 1 done for the season, defense has more field time than the offense, etc. Seasons like this happened to KC, Rams, 49ers, and Bengals after their SB appearances this decade. Looks like the Eagles were due for one like this.

For the last 10 games, my expectations are "Whatever happens happens"

But, in the end, it's always Go Birds!

Put Saquon on IR, he doesn't look right & it's detrimental to keep trying to get him out there at this point. Slide Jihaad to edge & give him a real look there & have Trot & Baun play linebacker the rest of the season. Maybe look to trade Riq if the offer is good enough. Just try to get Makai & Eli some real run & development the rest of the way. Whether that means Tanner or Joe starting, & I like Tanner, but last night was not giving me a lot of confidence in him moving forward. Fire Sirianni at the end of the season, Vic can retire & we just start fresh man.

We are getting out-gained at a historically bad rate. This is flat out not acceptable.

Question Should we give Ertz a few snaps a game to see if he can get the receptions record?

Post image
214 Upvotes

Since this season is probably a wash (the rest of the division is trying hard to keep us in it), what do you guys think about playing Ertz in order to get him the record?

There is a good chance that Smitty is going to break it in the next few years, anyway (barring that he stays healthy). Since Goedert is banged up, Mundt struggling to do the one thing we brought him here to do, and Stowers still needing time to develope, why not give Ertz a few snaps a game and see what happens?

Analysis [Kubena] Eagles’ worst defensive outing of Vic Fangio era creates unexpected problems

Thumbnail

PHILADELPHIA — The worst defensive game of the Vic Fangio era added insult to the ever-growing list of injuries amid a 2026 season in which the Philadelphia Eagles keep finding new levels of rock bottom.

Dependable defensive play has been the backbone of this team since it hired Fangio as its defensive coordinator in 2024. That snapped in a 38-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, just when the Eagles’ fledgling offensive system was finally finding a foothold.

The brutal loss to a bitter NFC East rival marked the most points the Eagles have allowed with Fangio in their booth. Cowboys running back Javonte Williams delivered the final touchdown, a 2-yard run that came after the Eagles turned the ball over on their own 16 in a last-ditch effort to spark a comeback. Williams rushed for a career-high 155 yards at 6.2 yards per carry — an indictment of an Eagles defensive front that was designed to be the strength of this team.

The Eagles signed defensive tackle Jordan Davis to a three-year, $78 million extension in March. They traded two third-round picks for edge rusher Jonathan Greenard in April and signed him to a four-year, $98 million extension. In July, they made Jalen Carter the NFL’s highest-paid interior lineman in history. That trio contributed to a miserable night in which the Eagles recorded no sacks, no quarterback hits, no tackles for loss.

Statistics The defense last night generated the lowest pressure rate of any team in a game this season

from this kempski article

https://www.phillyvoice.com/game-ball-three-stars-and-snap-count-analysis-week-7-eagles-vs-cowboys/

if it felt like the pass rush was nonexistent last night, you are correct. there are a bunch of horrific defenses around the league, to turn in the single worst performance of the season when it comes to pressure, given the salaries of the front 4/edge guys on this team, is truly incredible. if the guys havent quit on the team, id love to know what excuse they have for last night's performance

Opinion Just shut it down, Nicholas

I fear the the division is so weak that you might try and eke out wins with the hope of sneaking in to the playoffs. And then what? Get blasted in the WC only to end up with pick # 20?

You ran a hobbled Saquon into the ground last night in sheer desperation. Now we’ll be hard pressed to find a trade for him. Hopefully you don’t make the same mistake with guys like Baun and Nolan.

No more head-shaving. No watering the plants or flower blooming analogies. No “players only meetings.” No more catch phrases. No more making guys put their body on the line for one last run.

Just fucking tank, baby. I’m ready for two years of absolute suck while we accumulate whatever draft capital we can and let all this dead cap money roll off.

I know you’re the rah-rah CEO but even CEOs at times have to recognize the tough times and shepherd the organization through them. Layoffs, voluntary retirement packages, trimming the balance sheet, whatever. You get the gist.

Video Goedert showing more fight as a TE trying to repeatedly peanut punch after the McKee INT than pretty much everyone on defense minus Quinyon and Baun. Goedert should be retiring as an Eagles.

Analysis We’re tied for 4th in total injuries, but our core offensive damage is unmatched

I was looking at the league-wide injury reports to see how bad we actually have it. We have 17 guys out or hobbled right now, tying us for 4th most in the league with the Packers, Chargers, and Saints. The only teams with more are the 49ers (22), Patriots (21), and Giants (19).

But the raw numbers don't tell the whole story. I checked the QB1, WR1, and RB1 situations for all seven teams to see who else is bleeding like we are at our core positions.

We are the only team completely gutted at the top. Jalen being done for the year is already a death blow, but combining that with Smitty being out and Saquon dealing with a questionable hamstring means our entire offensive engine is sitting in the trainer's room.

The only other heavily injured team with their starting QB, WR, and RB on the report is the Patriots, and all three of their guys are at least fully practicing.

Not only is our scheme and playcalling suspect, but it also doesn’t help that our offensive ceiling is practically on the floor right now. Not to mention we’re having to start our 5th string RB. It just sucks, man.

Opinion Has Sirianni lost the locker room?

Zero effort from the defense tonight. Been watching Baldy's all-22 clips, and we got guys walking while Williams was running down the field. Offense seemed slightly better despite how bad Tanner was tonight. (Bazooka Joe will be worse than Tanner.)

I still think Sirianni needs to be fired mid-season. Trade off some of the guys on 1-year deals. Bring in a QB and see what happens. I don't think we need a full fire sale; we have guys who have proven to be solid that we will need moving forward. I'd rather see what a new staff can do compared to trading everyone.

Question Favorite memory as an Eagles fan?

Figured it would be a good time to remember some of the great times as a fan, given the way the season is going. This can be from a specific game or something else related to your Eagles fandom (meeting a player, the parade, a bonding experience with a loved one, etc..)

Outside of both Super Bowl wins, I would say going to my first ever Eagles game, which happened to be The Miracle at the New Meadowlands. I will never forget that feeling watching DeSean bring it across the end zone for the win, screaming my lungs off amongst thousands of stunned/angry Giants fans.

How about you?

Opinion The comparison to the Seahawks D is shocking

I was dumbfounded by the lack of effort by the D last night. I couldn't stop comparing it to Seattle's effort against the Chiefs the night before. Whenever Dallas ran the ball last night, as soon as the first tackler got there, it seemed like the rest of the D just stood there and watched and waited for the play to end.

Now compare that to Seattle, I swear I saw a sea of blue on every run play where guys were excited to get a hit on the ball carrier. As a coach, how the hell do you deal with low effort?

Question Clint Hurtt

How are we feeling about Defensive Line Coach Clint Hurtt? I liked him his first year here and thought he could take over as DC when Fangio retires but after last night's performance let alone now this season has went, no way he gets to be the DC.

The Defensive Line got bullied and abused last night, he is responsible for coaching the players and getting them ready for battle for 60 minutes. The Defense as a whole looked lost and had no fire in them, looked like they COULDN'T CARE LESS about being embarrassed by the Cowboys on MNF at the Linc.

I have been a fan of his but he is losing more and more job security at least potentially for Defensive Coordinator after Vic retires.

Btw last night was also the worst performance of the year when it comes to pressuring the QB, let alone 65 plays ran by Cowboys Offense and they surrendered ZERO TACKLES FOR LOSS!!!!!
