Off Day Thread Eagles Daily Discussion Thread - Wednesday, October 28
Subreddit Schedule/Posting Guidelines
We as a community have decided to limit certain types of posts to a few days a week to ensure other content is still visible throughout the rest of the week. Meme posts will be allowed from game end through Monday (if the game is on Thursday, Saturday, or Monday, memes will be allowed from game end through the following day) and jersey/crafts/pet posts will only be allowed on Swag Saturday. Towards the end of the season when games fall on Saturdays, we may move or skip Swag Saturday depending on what is going on that week. The mods are using automod features to automatically post recurring items at 6AM Eastern Time to remind the sub of this. Memes and swag are allowed in the normal feed, but NFL discussion and free talk are limited to the stickied threads.
- Monday - Meme Monday - Memes are allowed from game end through the following day (typically Monday)
- Tuesday - NFL Discussion Tuesday - Talk about the rest of the games
- Wednesday - Free Talk Wednesday - Talk about whatever (just be civil)

Say what you want about whether Saquon should have played. But in a game where our season was at a major crossroads, he suited up and tried to power through with sheer will power. The same can’t be said for our defense minus Quinyon. Saquon showed what our defense is desperately lacking. Will power.

Opinion Bye week BS
So let me get this straight. 3/4 of the games after our international game are against teams coming off their own bye week? How is this fair? How are teams coming off byes not playing other teams coming off byes?
Jags in London
Panthers coming off bye
Cowboys
Commanders coming off bye
Giants coming off bye
Number 1 bullshit AGAIN!

Meme I'm just here to support as a fan
We're 2-5, injured offense playing with backups, QB 1 done for the season, defense has more field time than the offense, etc. Seasons like this happened to KC, Rams, 49ers, and Bengals after their SB appearances this decade. Looks like the Eagles were due for one like this.
For the last 10 games, my expectations are "Whatever happens happens"
But, in the end, it's always Go Birds!

Player Discussion I hope we can all appreciate QB1 a little bit more now
Tanner McKee ain't it. I know I've seen a ton of slander anytime Jalen isn't perfect but Tanner is awful. He's one of the most inaccurate passers I've seen and doesn't have that deep ball threat. This man is the franchise for the next 10 years and reverting should be built around him. Hopefully we don't see any more, "giVe TaNeR a sHoT!!1" when we have a 3 and out. Tanner's has had 1 good preseason and this sub acts like he's a replacement for a superbowl MVP.
Get well soon QB1!

Statistics The defense last night generated the lowest pressure rate of any team in a game this season
from this kempski article
https://www.phillyvoice.com/game-ball-three-stars-and-snap-count-analysis-week-7-eagles-vs-cowboys/
if it felt like the pass rush was nonexistent last night, you are correct. there are a bunch of horrific defenses around the league, to turn in the single worst performance of the season when it comes to pressure, given the salaries of the front 4/edge guys on this team, is truly incredible. if the guys havent quit on the team, id love to know what excuse they have for last night's performance

Video Goedert showing more fight as a TE trying to repeatedly peanut punch after the McKee INT than pretty much everyone on defense minus Quinyon and Baun. Goedert should be retiring as an Eagles.

We are getting out-gained at a historically bad rate. This is flat out not acceptable.

Question Should we give Ertz a few snaps a game to see if he can get the receptions record?
Since this season is probably a wash (the rest of the division is trying hard to keep us in it), what do you guys think about playing Ertz in order to get him the record?
There is a good chance that Smitty is going to break it in the next few years, anyway (barring that he stays healthy). Since Goedert is banged up, Mundt struggling to do the one thing we brought him here to do, and Stowers still needing time to develope, why not give Ertz a few snaps a game and see what happens?

Trade Discussion [Berman]: Will the Eagles be sellers at the trade deadline? A look at Howie Roseman’s options
The Eagles have players of interest. The Athletic’s trade deadline Big Board includes five players in the top 32: defensive tackle Moro Ojomo at No. 8, edge rusher Nolan Smith at No. 23, offensive guard Landon Dickerson at No. 24, cornerback Riq Woolen at No. 26 and tight end Dallas Goedert at No. 32.
Ojomo and Woolen are in the final years of their contracts, while Goedert could be released after the season. All three are unlikely to be part of the Eagles’ long-term plans, making them more straightforward trade candidates for Roseman.
Dickerson has already seen the offensive line’s foundation shift with Lane Johnson’s retirement and the Jurgens trade, and he suggested asking Roseman and coach Nick Sirianni whether he’s part of the team’s long-term plans. Smith is in a crowded position room and restructured his fifth-year option to make it more trade-friendly. They’re players with term left on their deals, which complicates the question.
The hardest decisions might be about players not on The Athletic’s list: running back Saquon Barkley and linebacker Zack Baun.
Both are among the NFL’s best at their positions. They’re captains and under contract beyond this season. In most circumstances, suggesting they could come up in trade talks would be foolish. But Barkley and Baun are in their age-29 seasons. They could help a contender this year, and if the Eagles ever get a chance to snag significant value for either player, it would be in the next two weeks rather than next year.

Opinion Just pack it up.
Put Saquon on IR, he doesn't look right & it's detrimental to keep trying to get him out there at this point. Slide Jihaad to edge & give him a real look there & have Trot & Baun play linebacker the rest of the season. Maybe look to trade Riq if the offer is good enough. Just try to get Makai & Eli some real run & development the rest of the way. Whether that means Tanner or Joe starting, & I like Tanner, but last night was not giving me a lot of confidence in him moving forward. Fire Sirianni at the end of the season, Vic can retire & we just start fresh man.

Analysis [Kubena] Eagles’ worst defensive outing of Vic Fangio era creates unexpected problems
PHILADELPHIA — The worst defensive game of the Vic Fangio era added insult to the ever-growing list of injuries amid a 2026 season in which the Philadelphia Eagles keep finding new levels of rock bottom.
Dependable defensive play has been the backbone of this team since it hired Fangio as its defensive coordinator in 2024. That snapped in a 38-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, just when the Eagles’ fledgling offensive system was finally finding a foothold.
The brutal loss to a bitter NFC East rival marked the most points the Eagles have allowed with Fangio in their booth. Cowboys running back Javonte Williams delivered the final touchdown, a 2-yard run that came after the Eagles turned the ball over on their own 16 in a last-ditch effort to spark a comeback. Williams rushed for a career-high 155 yards at 6.2 yards per carry — an indictment of an Eagles defensive front that was designed to be the strength of this team.
The Eagles signed defensive tackle Jordan Davis to a three-year, $78 million extension in March. They traded two third-round picks for edge rusher Jonathan Greenard in April and signed him to a four-year, $98 million extension. In July, they made Jalen Carter the NFL’s highest-paid interior lineman in history. That trio contributed to a miserable night in which the Eagles recorded no sacks, no quarterback hits, no tackles for loss.
