I had a s21+ and one morning I woke up to find it continously rebooting over and over to the point it was hot. Im able to start it up in safe mode without issues but renders the phone useless. I Uninstalled recently updated apps at the time and there was still an issue.
It only crashes after i unlock the phone when i start it up normally. I'm sure it was a software update that is causing all this but idk how to fix that. Do I just have to completey factory reset the phone and lose everything or is there a way to salvage it?

Recent Google Pixel, Android 17
I want notifications to only show on lockscreen and not on the main screen
Well, I actually wanted notifications to show only show in a badge near the app icon and sound once, but I understand Android ties it to displaying a notification somewhere (lockscreen or main screen) (so if you don't display a notification, you can't have the badge If I'm wrong, I'd like to know how to achieve this without using some custom launcher).
Is there a way I can do this?
Do I have to configure settings both in Instagram and in "App Notifications" to achieve this?
I'm coming from iOS where all these settings were managed from one place, and somehow I can't do this reliably

It keeps auto verifying, I have found no way to disable it, the settings just keep running me in loops. Google says to check "phone settings", phone settings send me to google.

Hello, so I'm a person who is heavily into emulation and one thing that annoys me is that my emulators/ unofficial ports rarely get automatically moved to the Gaming hub. Does anyone know how to move my apps to the hub, or maybe someone knows how I can make the gaming booster work on my selected apps, without messing up all other apps? For example I want my do not disturb mode to be on while I'm gaming, but I want it to be automatic instead of manual activation. Another such example is refresh rate. I think that I could try using modes and Routines, even tho that app likes to brake.
I'm using S23Fe with Exynos 2200 (AKA Eu version)
Thank you in advance!

FYI: the backed up Folders from Samsung Gallery Folders are on OneDrive!
Path:
My Files > Pictures > Samsung Gallery > DCIM...
----
So...
I did the transition from OneDrive to Google Photos following all the prompts. It looks like it worked.
Now, Samsung Gallery is missing most of the Folders and pictures...
But the backed up Folders AND contents are indeed backed up on OneDrive on the path above!
There is no Favorites folder though. But the metadata should have that info.
...
I'm currently downloading and syncing my whole Samsung Gallery folder from OneDrive.
Path:
My Files > Pictures > Samsung Gallery
FYI, OneDrive should be Unrestricted on the Battery settings.
~~I’ve attached the screenshot showing the folder in the OneDrive app.~~ The attached picture is on the Samsung Galaxy subreddit
I'm letting it sync now and will check tomorrow.
----
The idea is to restore the back ups successfully, including the Favorites "non-folder".
-----
I'm not sure what to do next!
Has anyone been successful in restoring a OneDrive backup to their Samsung Gallery?

Posted recently about headphones, they turn off when disconnected.
How do I turn off Bluetooth during night time?
Adding that I have a pixel 10.
Also, most of the tips I've found were about troubleshooting maintaining Bluetooth connection.

Just as the title says, my phone plan is coming up, and I’m kind of tired of Apple and the ecosystem being a pain to work with. I use my phone to take a lot of photos and videos, and moving files from iOS to windows is a pain in the butt.
I’m looking to swap to an Android with Black Friday sales coming up, but I’m not sure what to get. I was looking at the Pixel 11 Pro, as well as the Nothing Phone 4a pro.
Another big thing for me is wearables. I sleep like a rock, and I use my Apple Watch to wake me up, but it needs to be replaced as well. Headphones aren’t a big deal, I have my Sony headphones that I bring everywhere.
Should I be looking at Google at all, or Samsung, or elsewhere?

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra running OneUI 9, and I keep getting an Android System notification saying:
"Grammarly is displaying over other apps."
I want Grammarly to keep its display-over-other-apps permission. I just want to hide the notification permanently.
I actually managed to find the specific notification category under:
Settings → Apps → Android System → Notifications → Notification categories → Display over other apps
There's even a toggle specifically labeled "Grammarly displaying over other apps."
However, when I tried disabling it, the notification wouldn't completely go away.
Has anyone figured out how to permanently hide this notification without disabling Grammarly's overlay permission? Is this a Samsung/One UI limitation, or is there another workaround?

I use to use USB tethering with no issues. Now, after a recent update, when I try to enable the `USB Tethering` setting after plugging my phone into my comptuer, nothing happens. The setting does not get enabled, no matter what I do. It was working with the same cord, port, and computer before I updated my phone.
Phone: Samsung S23+
One UI Version: 9
Android Version: 17
Build Number: CP2A.260605.016.S916USQU8GZIF

I have a Galaxy S23FE from 2023. In the last year, it has had intermittent, unpredictable, and incredibly frustrating difficulties connecting to both wifi and data. I've all but forgone wifi at the moment, but it's not the wifi - every other device in the house connects fine.
The data issue seems temperamental. It will be fine for a period of time, and then will simply stop working. I often won't even get a failure to connect message from whatever app I was using - it will just try and connect forever. The upload and download icons in the top right will begin to flick on and off; sometimes one remains, sometimes both go, and they just cycle every second or so. The 4G icon never drops, and generally I have at least two bars whenever this happens.
Even more bizarrely, sometimes it seems to be app-specific - if it's happening while I'm trying to use Firefox, it's not uncommon that I could go open Reddit and Reddit would work fine, and vice versa. Similar apps are usually affected similarly but not always - sometimes Firefox won't work but Chrome will, or Reddit won't work but Tumblr will. It does happen more often if I'm trying to watch videos or scroll image-heavy subreddits or social media. Restarting my phone sometimes resolves it, and on other occasions seems to just reroute which app/s are affected.
Any ideas on why this might be happening and what could be done to fix it would be appreciated. It's driving me up the wall.

Hey peeps - using Microsoft launcher on a pixel 9 pro xl with gesture navigation. When I swipe up to go home the screen ignores input for up to a second. Tapping an app icon straight away does nothing until it catches up. Setting animation scales to 0x doesn't fix it.
I captured the issue over ADB and in testing 12 taps were dropped over a 1,146 ms window. Logcat shows Quickstep handling the swipe through FallbackSwipeHandler the Gesture Monitor taking the input and touches being discarded until the transition to the launcher finishes. Switching to 3-button nav or Pixel Launcher makes it go away.
There's an open bug for this, but it's had very little activity given how many people use third-party launchers: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/220178612, how are people getting around this bug that im not aware of? Are you sticking with 3-button nav, using a 3rd party gesture app? or just living with it? Does any launcher avoid the delay?
Im a bit surprised that reviewers of android phones arent blasting android development for this outside of a stock launcher experience?

I\ve removed english entirely from gboard yet it still finds it and uses it, i\ve in settings told it to be just the finnish language yet it still choses english, is this really just a thing you can\t do anything about_ It has worked fine before, but every time my hone loses power, the gboard just decides to be a dick and not let me choose the language my keyboard actually is.
_ is supposed to be a question mark and \ is supposed to be ', but a with two dots over it is ' instead, would there be a nifty comman or something I could run somewhere to force android to use finnish keyboard layout over english for physical keybarods_ or am I just gonna have to relearn my muscle memory to press the clearly wrong keys to write the right keys_

I got some strange notifications about activities on my Google account that I didn't recognize so I figured best change the password. I did it on my phone and it was confusing enough that I inadvertently created a Passkey as well. I can see it listed under Passkeys now but there's no option to remove it. In the help section it says that in order to remove an autogenerated Passkey I need to go to All Devices and log out that device. Which isn't what I want to do, but ok. The problem is, it doesn't just show a list of devices but like a dozen sessions for my phone. The Help explains that I need to log out from all sessions, but the problem is that there is one session (labeled 'active') where there is no logout option. If I log out of all the other sessions, the Passkey is still listed under Passkeys and it's prompted when I need log in to my account. How can I actually remove the Passkey?
PS: Please help me find an answer and don't berate me for wanting to remove the Passkey. I know what Passkeys are, about Phishing resistance, I also use them (even on the same account), but I have my reasons for wanting to remove that particular one.

In the past, my phone alarm would play through either the phone speaker or BOTH the speaker and headphones, but now it only plays through the earbuds and I cannot for the life of me find a way to change that. Most I can find online seems to show people struggling to do the opposite.
For context, I sleep with bluetooth earbuds in order to not disturb my spouse, but they often fall out before my alarm goes off, so I have missed my alarm due to this. I have also had random times where it DOES play through both for some reason, but I don't know what caused it to do so, as it seemed completely random.

Device: Samsung Galaxy A52
Android Version: 14
Keyboard used: Stock Samsung Keyboard that came pre-installed with the phone.
Other keyboards I've tried: G-board/Google Keyboard and Microsoft Swiftkey.
My keyboard typing sounds are bubbly, but I want to change them to a typewriter sound. I can't access those settings because I'm not sure where to look.
Clarification: I don't want to toggle the sound on and off, but change what the typing sound effects.
Thank you in advance.
I used to have this setting, but now I can't find it anywhere within any keyboard settings menu. Maybe a recent update had taken them away?

I have a Fold 7 and it's kind of annoying that the Now Playing banner takes up the whole notification tray while I'm listening to music. I can't see any of my notifications without swiping down. The only way I can get rid of it is by closing Apple Music and swiping it away. Any advice is appreciated.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S25 plus and I've been having issues with my music playing through my phone speakers instead of my connected bluetooth devices. Whether it is with Spotify or YT, sound output is on my phone until I hit pause, then it redirects to my connected bluetooth device. This has happened to different connected devices, my car (not android auto, just reg bluetooth) and my skullcandy earbuds. This started a couple weeks ago. I've restarted my phone, reconnected devices, and my separate audio function is off.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

Hello All,
I have a 1st generation fire tablet and have been trying for about week so to install android os on it, but I've been hitting multiple road blocks. I wasnt sure if anyone here has tried before successfully, depending on what's easier I have a win11 desktop and a Linux mint laptop. So far I've tried to manually install the super user app (successfully), attempted to use KFU, FFF, and TWRP but have failed at all 3 of those

I sleep on call a lot (Discord) and I have alarms set for the morning, but whenever I'm in a call, my alarm gets replaced by a very quiet beeping sound. There's no way I'd wake up to that. Is there any setting I can change or app I can use?

I'm looking for something more detailed than the usual package lists. I already know about UAD-ng's database and sites like DeepWiki/Instagit, but they're either too shallow or don't actually populate the dependency/neededBy fields for most packages.
What I'm really trying to find is a wiki, encyclopedia, or community knowledge base that documents Android packages (especially Samsung/One UI and Google/GMS) with:
· Full package name
· What the package actually does (not just a one-liner)
· Why it exists / its purpose
· Whether it's required or optional
· What depends on it, and what it depends on
· What happens if you disable it vs. uninstall it
· Pros/cons and privacy implications
· Risk level and alternatives
· Whether behavior varies by device / Android version / One UI version / region
· Source code availability: Is the source code publicly available? Is it open source (AOSP, Apache 2.0, GPL) or proprietary/closed-source? If open, where is the repository? If closed, is there any partial source, decompiled code, or vendor release?
· Confidence level / source of the info
I already know that AOSP is open source, but GMS and One UI (Samsung) are closed-source — so for most Samsung/Google packages, the answer will likely be "closed-source." But I want to confirm this per package, and know if there are exceptions (e.g., some components may have open-source parts, or vendor releases).
Does anyone know of a site, wiki, database, or even a Discord/Telegram group where people document this kind of deep per-package analysis? It doesn't have to be famous — I'm specifically asking because the well-known lists aren't deep enough.
If you know a package well, please drop it with as much detail as you can, including the package name, device/Android/One UI version, what it does, safe to disable/uninstall, what breaks, source code availability, and your confidence/source.
