Sound playing through phone speakers instead of bluetooth device

I have a Samsung Galaxy S25 plus and I've been having issues with my music playing through my phone speakers instead of my connected bluetooth devices. Whether it is with Spotify or YT, sound output is on my phone until I hit pause, then it redirects to my connected bluetooth device. This has happened to different connected devices, my car (not android auto, just reg bluetooth) and my skullcandy earbuds. This started a couple weeks ago. I've restarted my phone, reconnected devices, and my separate audio function is off.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

Check Settings > Connections > Bluetooth, tap the gear next to your device, and make sure media audio is enabled. Also look in Settings > Sounds and vibration > Separate app sound and confirm it's off for Spotify/YouTube. Then reconnect the device and test again.

I've done bone suggestions previously and it still happens.
