#Miscellaneous 📃 Street dogs keep tearing my Activa seat despite using a scooty cover. Please help!

Post image

I'm honestly so frustrated. Street dogs keep coming back and chewing the seat of my Honda Activa, and this has happened multiple times now.

I already use a scooty cover, but they still manage to get to the seat and tear it apart. I've had to deal with this repeatedly, and I'm at my wit's end. There are no provisions to park inside a gate.

Has anyone else faced this problem? Please help me figure out how to stop this from happening again. I'm tired of getting the seat repaired over and over. 😭

Been riding it around 6k kms now on the odo, so I figured out instead of writing the full ownership review I think its better to answer than share details which nobody asked.

Happy to share anything about the bike.

Just imagine the sheer volume of people who are going to watch this and actually believe it. These guys are running a public stunt with zero understanding of basic physics and helmet safety, fooling gullible buyers into thinking that an indestructible shell equals a safe helmet 🤕

#RoadTrip 🛣️ Throwback to when me and my friend did an 1800km roundtrip from Kochi to Hampi and back on our classic 350s and on a budget of ₹8000

Here are some pictures from last year when me and my friend-both 20, rode from Kochi to Hampi via Mysore and back home through Bangalore on our Classic 350s in 5 days. We covered almost 1800kms through 3 states with a strict budget of just ₹8000 per-person and yes it included the fuel cost, accommodation expenses, food etc.

It was both our first time exploring the state of Karnataka and the most fun we’ve had in our lives, In those 5 days:

-We came face to face with a huge Indian Gaur🦬(Bro was low-key chill)

-Rode through a dense forest inhabited with wild animals at night and got questioned by forest officials for it. (We didn’t think much until the roads started getting narrower, thankfully we didn’t run into any tigers🥶)

-Slept in a ₹400 Hotel room.😃(Thinking about it..it was more-of a lodge even-though the website said otherwise, the bed was held up on what looked like scrap wood but having walls on all sides and lock on the door was our priority even though it meant sleeping in our sleeping bags on the bed, not complaining though 😅)

-Saw a natural phenomenon called ‘the dust devil’🌪️.(Says ChatGPT…I genuinely thought it was a fkn tornado)

-Had delicious food from a dhaba for the first time. (no we don’t have those at home)

-Rode through stunning yet deserted roads with no vehicles in sight for a long time, occasionally hitting 120kmph, and then eventually got annoyed by the after-market exhaust. (I didn’t know the day would ever come)

- Got spooked by a guy with a massive blade on his hips at night💀(it was crazy)

-Visited the stone charriot, which is featured on the ₹50 note

-Tried to outrun the rain(Ended up soaked anyway)

-Got trapped in the infamous Bangalore traffic, it was so bad that I decided never to visit Bangalore again with own bikes or cars 🙂(The city was beautiful🖤)

Our only regret from the entire ride is that we didn’t choose the road that goes through Bellary on our return that apparently goes through Andhra Pradesh :((we didn’t know that)

was set on the xtreme 250r. now the duke 250 is in my head. planning a long ride home to MP once i get it, which might be stupid as a first trip.

what did your first long ride teach you that you wish you knew before

#Discussion 💬 My 38yo Mom wants her own bike. Dad wants her on an MT-15 Mom wants 400cc+

Hey Buddies, I need your collective wisdom before my household turns into a civil war over displacement.

Quick background: I’m 20, I ride a GT 650, and my dad is perfectly happy putting along on his Meteor 350. Motorcycling is a big deal in our house, but my dad is definitely the "sensible safety" guy.

Here is the plot twist: My Mom wants her own bike.

She’s 38, keeps herself extremely fit, and honestly doesn't look her age at all. She knows how to ride, and I trust her riding completely she even rides my GT 650 often (though she admits it’s not her favorite ergonomics-wise).

Now, the battle lines are drawn:

Dad’s Stance is She should "start small" with something like a Yamaha R2, MT-15, an Apache RTR, or a Hunter 350.

Mom and Me, We are of the same breed. We don't take anything below 400cc seriously, and she refuses to settle for a commuter compromise.

We checked out the Triumph Speed 400, Scrambler 400x, Duke 390, and Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. She actually looked incredible riding the Guerrilla, but she wasn’t a fan of it in the end (and NS 400z was instantly rejected because “no Pulsars in this house” gotta love her standards).

So we’re looking at the Speed 400 or Duke 390 territory.

How do I convince my dad to let My Mom jump straight into a proper 400+cc machine? Give me your best tactical arguments!

#Discussion 💬 I am tired of getting low mileage.

Post image
19 Upvotes

This is my CT100 kick start model registered in 2020, and manufactured in 2019. People used to brag a lot about the mileage so I purchased it. But I constantly get around 50 to 55 kmph from day 1.

And for last few months, mechanic is also saying that less engine oil is getting drained during oil change and is recommending some engine tweaks.

I use Motul 3000 20w40 engine oil and xP100 petrol for 2-3 months.

Biggest issue is mileage. I am facing some severe personal problems, and for which I have to drive Rapido for a while, but I can't do on this bike. Fuel finishes very quickly. I have purchased mileage calculator bottle. I will be testing it very soon with xP100 petrol and with regular petrol.

I am about to purchase Hero Vida VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh electric using my friends credit card, and I super nervous whether that is a good decision or not.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

#Query ❓ Genuine RE engine guard: front engine mount bolts don’t match RE’s own fitting instruction. This is what causes frame cracks as documented.

Post image
• Upvotes

My Himalayan 450 is about 2 weeks old, around 600 km. The genuine RE engine guard (KXA00437) was fitted by the authorised dealer at delivery.

After the first service I noticed the mechanic tightened the engine and guard bolts with a breaker bar, not a torque wrench. Given the frame failure reports linked to these mounts, I looked up RE’s official fitting instruction for this guard (T5000089, Issue D).

As per the instruction:

  • Front engine mount, left: M10 x 90 mm fixing, 45 Nm
  • Front engine mount, right: M10 x 135 mm fixing with washers and nut, 60 Nm
  • Both are listed with a 14 mm socket
  • A 46 mm spacer (left) and 32 mm spacer (right) go in the frame recess
  • The frame adjuster on the right must be at 3 Nm, using a dealer tool

On my bike, the bolts at both front engine mounts take a 13 mm spanner. A 14 mm socket has clear play. So they do not seem to be the fixings RE specifies.

Two questions:

  1. If you have the genuine guard fitted, what size are your front engine mount bolts?
  2. Has anyone got RE to send a senior technician or Area Service Manager for something like this? I will raise a complaint. How long does it take?

I am in Delhi NCR. Is there a place where I can get this done correctly (even for some money)?

Photos attached. If I can't even trust the OEM accessories installed directly at the time of buying, what can I trust with RE then?
