Throwback to when me and my friend did an 1800km roundtrip from Kochi to Hampi and back on our classic 350s and on a budget of ₹8000

Here are some pictures from last year when me and my friend-both 20, rode from Kochi to Hampi via Mysore and back home through Bangalore on our Classic 350s in 5 days. We covered almost 1800kms through 3 states with a strict budget of just ₹8000($85) per-person and yes it included the fuel cost, accommodation expenses, food etc.

It was both our first time exploring the state of Karnataka and the most fun we’ve had in our lives, In those 5 days:

-We came face to face with a huge Indian Gaur🦬(Bro was low-key chill)

-Rode through a dense forest inhabited with wild animals at night and got questioned by forest officials for it. (We didn’t think much until the roads started getting narrower, thankfully we didn’t run into any tigers🥶)

-Slept in a ₹400 Hotel room.😃(Thinking about it..it was more-of a lodge even-though the website said otherwise, the bed was held up on what looked like scrap wood but having walls on all sides and lock on the door was our priority even though it meant sleeping in our sleeping bags on the bed, not complaining though 😅)

-Saw a natural phenomenon called ‘the dust devil’🌪️.(Says ChatGPT…I genuinely thought it was a fkn tornado)

-Had delicious food from a dhaba for the first time.(no we don’t have those at home)

-Rode through stunning yet deserted roads with no vehicles in sight for a long time, occasionally hitting 120kmph, and then eventually got annoyed by the after-market exhaust.(I didn’t know the day would ever come)

- Got spooked by a guy with a massive blade in his hips at night💀(it was crazy)

-Visited a temple for the first time.(And then some)

-Visited the stone charriot, which is featured on the ₹50 note

-Got trapped in the infamous Bangalore traffic, it was so bad that I decided never to visit Bangalore again with own bikes or cars 🙂(The city was beautiful🖤)

Our only regret from the entire ride is that we didn’t choose the road that goes through Bellary on our return that apparently goes through Andhra Pradesh :((we didn’t know that)

I got my hands on the Goan classic 350 last week and I could not be happier. It just suits me - the riding posture, relaxed cruising and of course the style.

Please recommend some gears that would make my rides even better.

Finally got my first bike! Been waiting almost 2 months and even thought of cancelling it at one point, but glad I didn’t. This is the first brand-new bike/car our family has ever bought, which makes it even more special. Really grateful to my parents for making this happen. Couldn’t be happier!

Mechanical Assistance Genuine RE engine guard: front engine mount bolts don’t match RE’s own fitting instruction. Exactly what RE says not to do to avoid frame cracks.

My Himalayan 450 is about 2 weeks old, around 600 km. The genuine RE engine guard (KXA00437) was fitted by the authorised dealer at delivery.

After the first service I noticed the mechanic tightened the engine and guard bolts with a breaker bar, not a torque wrench. Given the frame failure reports linked to these mounts, I looked up RE’s official fitting instruction for this guard (T5000089, Issue D).

As per the instruction:

  • Front engine mount, left: M10 x 90 mm fixing, 45 Nm
  • Front engine mount, right: M10 x 135 mm fixing with washers and nut, 60 Nm
  • Both are listed with a 14 mm socket
  • A 46 mm spacer (left) and 32 mm spacer (right) go in the frame recess
  • The frame adjuster on the right must be at 3 Nm, using a dealer tool

On my bike, the bolts at both front engine mounts take a 13 mm spanner. A 14 mm socket has clear play. So they do not seem to be the fixings RE specifies.

Two questions:

  1. If you have the genuine guard fitted, what size are your front engine mount bolts?
  2. Has anyone got RE to send a senior technician or Area Service Manager for something like this? I have raised a complaint (ticket [number]).

Photos attached. If I can't trust RE's OEM accessories installed at the dealer, what can I even trust?

Hey, I'm fairly new to motorcycles and I had my meteor 350 almost brand new it's about 2 thousand kilometers old (2026) one day while riding it started making those pop sounds and they haven't disappear since then.

Any idea on what could that be?

So previously i posted about the issue of some scratches on my new bike’s fuel tank
I was suggested to use formula 1 wax which I ordered and applied after a deep wash
The results are promising well it couldn’t vanish it completely but it made it look shiny and very hard to spot
Overall I would recommend it for your bikes
Turn out more than expected
Peace.

Bike Won't Start After Sitting Unused for Almost 60 Days

I've been away from my hometown for almost 60 days, and nobody has been riding my bike during this period. My brother has been starting it once a week to keep it running, but now the bike won't start at all.

I'm not sure whether it's a dead battery or something else, such as a fuel-related issue

This royal Enfield is delightful to look at IMHO, has anyone tried one? How does it perform and what's the real world range on Twisties through the hills?

Mechanical Assistance Self-Repairs on a Thunderbird 350

Hello all. I want to start working on my bike myself, at least minor and moderate repairs/maintenance, so I'm looking for guidance and advice from experienced folk.

I want to change the front brake pads and the bleed the brake fluid on my 2016 Thunderbird 350. Can I find brake fluid locally, and are there any better-than-stock brake pads (ceramic?) that I can buy online? I figured I might as well get better parts if I'm doing it myself, right? Also, I don't have any experience with such tasks so do let me know if something is doable by a novice (and there's not much risk of things going horribly wrong) or the risk is best left to the experts; I just don't want to be stuck in a situation where I'm spending in the high 4 digits just to fix any stupidity on my part.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

Extra info: The authorized service center told me that the brake pads can't be changed nor can the brakes be bled without changing the whole brake assembly because "it's really old and the pistons will jam themselves to the disc". I don't believe it, and neither does a friend of mine who works as a tech trainer with BMW (because wtf kinda system is it that it will catastrophically self-destruct after just 10 years if you try to perform routine maintenance), but I wanted to ask here as well, just in case. If they would have said that'd happen if we perform brake bleeding I might have believed them but surely a pad replacement couldn't do that, right?

Mechanical Assistance Water seeping through the tank cover on himmy 440 (new himmy 411)

Post image

the photo of the bike is irrelevant i suppose but I washed my bike today and kept hearing suction noises from the tank. I could tell there was water being seeped inside, now inside i did see a drain area but regardless, when I opened the tank a little water went into the tank, I don't think there's gonna be issues with the amount that went it but I do want to try and fix the water seeping, is there anything I can do? A cover for the lid maybe?

Hey everyone! I’m planning to buy a 350cc motorcycle and stuck between the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Meteor 350. If anyone owns either of these models, could you share your honest review? Looking for feedback on city comfort, long-ride fatigue, and maintenance experience. Thanks in advance!"
