What's the most boring boyfriend moment that would've blown your teenage mind?
I think younger me assumed that if I ever got to have a boyfriend, the big moments would be the ones that mattered. First kiss, meeting the parents, all that stuff.
But the other day my boyfriend texted me to pick up dish soap, and I stood in the supermarket for five minutes trying to remember which scent he hates.
On the way home it randomly hit me that 16-year-old me would've been absolutely floored by this. Not the fact that I have a boyfriend, exactly. The fact that having one has become so normal that we can have a minor domestic disagreement about lemon-scented dish soap.
I spent years imagining what being with another guy might look like. Somehow I never pictured the boring parts, and those are turning out to be some of my favorites.
Anyone else have a completely ordinary moment that younger you would've found unbelievable?
