Hi Smallville Fans, Mod Team here again!
We have decided to loosen the shipping rules a bit now that things have calmed down as its fair for people to talk about their favourite relationships.
However anything that is not respectful or civil or that uses foul language to describe any of the characters will be moderated and warnings/bans will be issued. Any posts that descend into wars between people will also be moderated and removed, if someone is rude, report them instead of pushing back and getting the entire thread removed we will then investigate on a case by case basis.
Please use the Be Respectful or Be Civil or No Excessive Swearing & Arguing report options to report this, as we will be removing the no shipping rule and report option.
We understand this might not be what everyone wanted however we want people to be able to post what they want about Smallville (within reason) as long as they do it in a respectful and civil manner and we think moving forwards this is the best way to do it. We will be looking to refine this over time to improve it where we can.
Finally please be aware that a fair portion of the Moderation of posts in this subreddit is done by the AutoMod bot, as in most big subreddits - if for some reason your post has been removed, rather than making a post questioning it which just leads to conflict, please reach out in the ModMail with a link to the post and we will tell you the exact reason.
Finally its our usual plug for the Discord :-)
Invite Link:
Roughly 400 people in there now - the more people that join the more we can talk about Smallville!
Thanks for being awesome - we appreciate all of you!

On my third, or fourth maybe, rewatch of the series and I hate CLana’s final goodbye more and more each time, it was a fine goodbye at the end of S7, with Lana leaving because she was moving on, and Clark eventually starting to move on on his own as well as slowly but steadily falling for Lois, all for Crybaby Lang to appear out of the blue and Clark is a clumsy, angsty highschooler again. Man it sucks so bad.

I loved Michael Rosenbaum as Zod at the end of Season 5 and the beginning of Season 6. He had that commanding, intimidating presence you’d expect from a Kryptonian general. His fight with Clark in the Season 6 premiere was fantastic, and “Kneel before Zod” was the icing on the cake.
Callum Blue just didn’t work for me in the same way. His Zod often comes across as whiny and petulant, almost like he’s perpetually on the verge of tears. I struggle to buy him as a major commanding his army, and I never found him particularly intimidating next to Clark. No disrespect to Blue, but I just didn’t feel that same sense of authority or menace.
Even with my issues with Man of Steel, Michael Shannon gave us a much more convincing Zod. Smallville got so much right with Michael’s Lex Luthor and James Marsters’ Brainiac, but I think Zod was a missed opportunity. I wasn’t particularly sold on Davis Bloome or the Doomsday monster either, but Zod disappointed me the most.
Maybe Rosenbaum simply set the bar too high, but his Zod was genuinely terrifying. Callum Blue’s? Pretty mid, IMO.
And I know that he’s a clone from before 20 years from the destruction of Krypton but still. They should’ve had him play it differently or cast a more intimidating/commanding actor.

I've been diving into the Smallville fandom for a few months now, and I've noticed something really puzzling. I'm enjoying the show and have just reached season 9, but I can't help but see this intense divide among fans, especially when it comes to shipping.
It feels like there's so much passion around pairings like Clana, Clois, and Oliver and Lois, but at the same time, there's a lot of negativity towards these ships and their supporters. I see comments and discussions about how some fans believe there shouldn't be debates over these ships at all, which makes me even more confused.
Why is there such a strong aversion to certain ships? Is it just personal preference, or is there more to it? It really seems like some fans take it personally if someone supports a different pairing, and I can't wrap my head around why that is. It would be great to hear others' thoughts on this!

I am so confused on how the Kents don’t know that Lionel knows everything. Watching season 5 ep17 Clark finds out that Lionel knows all about him. But earlier on, Lionel was in Clark’s body. And then after that Lionel was taken over by Jor-El and it seemed he knew then as well.

General thoughts: All around it was good, but like the other high school seasons, it's not without it's problems.
Clark: (Note: This is based on episodes 1-20). Clark this season was good. After spending a lot of season 3 angsting, season 4 kinda fixed that by having him be a regular teenage Superman. First was his short arc with football, which had a nice end and helped Clark feel like the future Superman he'll become. Next was him and Lois, which is leagues better then Lana and Choice, purely because they FUCKING HATE EACH OTHER! Which aside from being funny seeing as these two will become endgame, means we won't have to worry about the love triangle becoming a love square. Episode 21 Update: Nothing. Finale update: He's in the north pole now, does this mean what I think it means?
Lana: (Note: This is based on episode 1-20). Lana was alright but her storyline was super disappointing so far. Mainly because of the witch stuff, which felt like a very bad silver age comic being dragged out for 5 years like the Clone Saga, and her romance of cancer with Clark is like american politics. Boring! Ass! Shit! Although her episode with the fast aging kid she raises with Clark was super sweet and gave me hope for these two. But why is she mad at Lex for firing a pedophila, I know she's a teenager, but come on. Episode 21 Update: Nothing big, but Jesus the gore. Finale update: Oh, her and Clark are a thing now? Again?
Lex: Is still the goat, the legend, the best character, and my favorite! Between him and his Father's new dynamic with Riddler reformed, to the clone episode letting us see how evil he could and will be, to... the kiss with Lana... "sigh", FYI, Lex is 24 or 25 in season 4, while he has known Lana since she was 14. And with Jensen Ackles... oh, wait, yeah, that's right! He outed a pedophila! Lex Based Luthor, am I right? Also, I'm writing this after episode 20, so I'll write down what happened in episodes 21 and 22 before posting this hahaha! Episode 21 Update: So the Ackles plotline is finished. Finale update: Guy has gone almost full on villain and is trying to take another man's woman! Lex "Cuck" Luthor, am I right?
Jensen Ackles: (Note: This is based on episodes 1-20). Pete's replacement in the season 4 intro and like Pete... this guy was underwhelming. Aside from just being there to add fuel to Clark's and Lana's cancer of love that is there romance, and having some shit going on with his mother, some witches, Lana, and pulling a Kamoshida Persona 5 and DATING A STUDENT! WHY???? He was fucking meh, and felt like The Boys season 5 when it came to wasting JENSEN FUCKING ACKLES! I didn't even call him Jason, just Jensen Ackles. Episode 21 Update: Oh, now he's dead, lol. Finale: wait he's alive oh wait he might actually be dead this time lol.
Choice: Was a far better character than in seasons 2 and 3. They cut back on the crush Clark, she finally learns Clark has powers, her connection with Lois is honestly great, and she's all around just much better written. Hopefully this continues into season 5 and beyond. Finale update: Didn't do much but might tell Lex about Clark's powers, who knows.
Riddler Luthor: The De facto main and best villain, speending the first half in prison, and swapping bodies with Clark, (which was a great episode for Tom's and Golver's acting skills, btw), to spending the second half out of prison and reformed too. His dynamic with Lex is still going strong, and that scene in episode 20 with Ackles's mother. Chief's kiss! It really shows that despite being reformed, and revealing he really does love Lex, Riddler is still a villain at the end of the day. Episode 21 Update: He killed Jensen Ackles! That Bastard!
MARTHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: Was fucking awful this season, purly because of the Unsafe arc. I mean come on, bitch! Your son was raped and you're reading him the riot act about marraige?! Go die in a hole for all I care, it's disgusting how SA is treated in this show.
Jontham: He's been getting better and better every season, season 4 is no exception. Aside from that shit during the date rape arc, he improved a lot this season. Him and Clark having a fight in episode 21 about Clark's choice of college felt really real and down to earth, and the talk with Martha was both heartwarming and tearjerking. I sadly know he's dying next season cause I watched a smallvile video years ago. It was my Movie Flame.
Lois: Lois was a fun character this season. She was really likable, her connection to Choice is great, the fact her and Clark hate their absolute guts yet have to live together, it's honestly the best version of the ship aside from the DCU. And knowing the show ends with their wedding (Again blame Movie Flame), it's just the best romance in the show aside from Lex and Clark. (We all know people ship them)
Unsafe/Date rape/Victim blaming/FUCK THIS PART: Smallville has a serious SA problem! There is so much forced kissing in this show it makes it feel like one of the show's writers has a teen age rape fetish and Unsafe is the worst one I've seen! First Clark is drugged by and is forced to make out with a girl who tired to kill someone! After that, MARTHA!!! goes on some speech what Marriage although Clark had any choice in the matter, and the episode tired gaslighting us into thinking Clark was in the wrong even though HE WAS FUCKING RAPED!!! WHAT WERE THEY SMOKING?! THE SAME PEOPLE BEHIND THE STUPID LOVE SUBPLOTS?! THE NOT-FUCKING MYXLPLYX EPISODE? IS THIS SERIOUSLY WHAT MEN GETTING RAPED STORIES PEOPLE THINK OF?! WHY! WHY!! WHY!!!???
Krypto: HE'S SO FUCKING CUTE!
Graduation: A lot less graduation focused and more on the death, huh? Also, wow this show has a budget. Think they used this much budget on actual good character writing but hey I don't make the rules.
Closing Thoughts: So all around it was good, but it wasn't peak or anything. But I've been told seasons 1-4 are the worst seasons of the show so I better get ready for peak after this. Hopefully no more SA but I can't be that hopeful. 8/10.

I'm currently watching Smallville on Amazon Prime and just finished the 11th episode, which was unusually long at almost 1.5 hours. However, when I moved on to the 12th episode, it turned out to be the same episode but only 40 minutes long. I'm not sure if this is a glitch or something. What should I do?

It turns out that in the comics Pete and Lana got married
If the writers put this idea into the show by season 5 and left them as a couple how do you think the public would have reacted
And how long do you think it would have taken the writers to give him romantic drama with Clark, because I'm sure they would have done it
r/Smallville • u/Huge_Candy748 • 1d ago
He would have been given some paper to help Clark
They think they would have given him some kind of romance with Chloe or Kara or left him single.
How do you think they would have left their character at the end of the series and what role do you think they would have had to help Clark when he becomes Superman

It’s so refreshing to see positive female friendships. They always had each other’s back they were a girl’s girl before that was even a phrase. It was such a trend in the 2000s to have women always be catty with one another even they are supposed to be best friends.

Hi guys, I love Smallville. I watched it for the first time this year after only hearing of it growing up. It’s crazy because I watched nearly everything CW put out from 2012-2019 and barely missed when Smallville was airing. But anyways, it’s made its way onto my comfort show/rewatch roster and I decided to make all the characters as LEGO minifigures since I love Legos too.
My partner added some of the characters in the back who made appearances on the show. And now I’m working on making a farm set for the main cast to live on.✨🦸🏻♂️

season 3 episode 8.... yea I feel bad for lex. lex up to this point is not a villain. all I seen lex do is navigate with the hand he was dealt in life. this is why I try my best not to judge people. if I had to choose between lex or Lionel im going with lex. he clearly has a great heart. he doesn't have a great heart AND mind because well... his dad is Lionel. I remember stopping the show around this point so im back on track with finishing the series. its hard for me to believe that if my dad was someone like Lionel that I would turn out like Clark. I think Michael even says it in the show. he literally said if his upbringing was different lex would have turned out completely different aswell.
I really enjoy how they "slow cook" lex in this show. i think thats a great way to describe him. slow cook meaning lex showed progression. you see in real time how he spirals out of control slowly. been so many layers put on screen. you can see him progressively get worse mentally and emotionally. it makes me sad because lex really does need Clark. you can see it in his face. early on Clark was the guy that bought out the good side in himself. but then here comes his dad on the damn screen. every freaking time Clark puts lex on the right track here comes Lionel on the screen. derails his progress with manipulation, exploitation, and extortion. and of course he fights back as he should but use his own tactics and his dads tactics to do so. cat and mouse with them. Lionel knows no bounds when it comes to chess lol. no complaints here guys. just wanted to share my thoughts on how great these characters are. Michael did such a damn good job with lex.

I know this topic has been brought up several times, but I feel like I need to have my own discussion at this point before I develop a braintumor trying to find an “answer”
I’ve only watched to season 6 by now, but I really got into Lex’s lore and story. I dug deep enough to spoil myself that he dies in a truck explosion. However, I rememberd he’d appear in the finale, so I started my digging into what happened in between. As we all know by now, he had a lab where he created clones but died before he could use them. However before he died, he had put together the composite clone LX-Ø. It operated on life support till Lionel gave his heart to give to the clone, although the heart is not relevant to my question.
As I understand it, Darkseid pulls Lex’s actual soul and consciousness out of a comic limbo and into LX-Ø. In the DC universe (from what I’ve researched) the meaning of the soul is that it’s the absolute unique thing about a person, meaning that the other clones that Lex has made in the past, does have his memories, but not his singular unique soul.
I wanted to add this to the equation: “The DC database explicitly notes that the actual realm of Heaven is so intense that its light would melt human corneas, its music would burst eardrums, and its air would boil human blood. Only a soul—completely stripped of biological meat—is strong enough to bear Heaven's touch.”
This confirms that the soul is the one unique thing that makes someone their true self within the DC universe and things like someone’s biological body are not added to the equation.
Now to what’s bothering me: LX-Ø is Lex compared to the other clones because his soul is within it. But, I can’t seem to accept that it’s the actual Lex. To me, I can’t seem accept any other explanation that the actual, original Lex actually is dead, and that the LEX-Ø is simply just a Frankenstein type clone even if it has his actual, unique soul. It bothers me because even if they label it as a resurrection, it still feels a little unauthentical at the end of the day. I was really curious to hear what you guys think about this specific topic, so please, do share your thoughts!!

Rosenbaum's Lex is considered the best version of Lex that pretty much shaped the character during the last 20 years and Vincent's Fisk is considered one of the best villains on TV and one of the best parts in the Daredevil series. Both are the ideal versions of their characters, explore similar themes, and have a childhood trauma past and a power-hungry present. Vincent's Kingpin is exactly the kind of person I imagine Rosenbaum's Lex growing into after Season 10. Who do you think is the better character?
