Why do so many Rust players run around naked after leaving their base and only put on their armor or hazzy right before a fight?
Wouldn't you be way more likely to die if someone started shooting at you before you even noticed them? You'd have a much better chance of surviving if you were already geared up.
I get that it's probably to avoid looking like you have loot on you, but they're still running around with a gun instead of a rock, so I don't really get the logic.
Maybe I just don't have enough hours in Rust yet, but can someone explain this to me?
ru:

How did Facepunch not think of this? It’s easier to shoot from—especially with a rocket launcher. Plus, Facepunch is planning to add a one-handed Uzi; sooner or later, they’ll likely add the ability to shoot from inside a cockpit, too. Solo players would love that—everyone would be happy!

Just trying to figure out if I am using this thing incorrectly or its just the way it is. I add my items, then I stir. The status bar goes from red requires stirring to a green stirred bar. No matter what you put in there (unless you are on some crazy modded stack size server I suppose) that green bar will never run out. Anytime you add an item you have to stir it again even if the stirred bar is still half full.
Am I using this correctly or is there some way to get items in there as long as the status bar is still green (stirred)?
Just seem silly to have a status bar that counts down if it can never reach zero.

Just a thought for these frags to have a dedicated spot rather than chucking them in with comps or whatever. Or add a craft able book shelf or envelope or something that will allow storage for cards and fragments. If you could stack cards in it it would be a whole lot cleaner.

For example at water treatment there is another powered door with loot directly under the fuse room. There is rooms like this at other monuments. They don't open all the time. What do I need to do for these rooms to always open?

I believe for next wipe with how workbenches are going to be as they were before prior to the fragments. The game will be generally easier. Considering the fact that blueprints themselves are still going to be an issue, there’ll be ways to work around it.
I personally believe the new meta will be to struggle on the first wipe of the month. By the end of the wipe go out, search for decayed/raided bases. Then you can do your researching. Therefore all you need to have next wipe is the stuff to craft and the workbenches. I personally see it easier said than done. I do this currently even with the fragments but at least I don’t need to worry about blueprints let alone scrap besides mini’s.

New to rust, first time doing electrical. I’m trying to set up auto lights at night but not sure this is right.
Does this make sense if I continue my grid off that second branch power out?
Also, is power being wasted as I have it now, with nothing else attached the branch?
Feel like I might be missing something, thanks

Rust Microstuttering with High FPS — Severe Frametime Spikes When Bullets Are Visible
PC specifications:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 5060 8GB OC
Motherboard: ASUS TUF B550 series
RAM: 32GB DDR4 3600MHz
Storage: SSD
Recording software: OBS with Replay Buffer enabled
The problem
I’m experiencing severe microstuttering in Rust even when my FPS is high. The game may show 100–120+ FPS, but it feels like I’m playing at 20–30 FPS because the image constantly stutters and feels extremely choppy.
The Steam overlay frametime graph shows frequent red spikes, sometimes almost every second, even when I’m not fighting anyone.
The strangest part is that the stuttering becomes much worse when I can see a bullet flying through the air. Shooting itself seems fine, but when the bullet becomes visible, the game starts stuttering badly. I use low particle settings, so I don’t think it’s simply a particle-effects issue.
My FPS can be around 170–200 after a fresh PC restart, but after the computer has been running for a while, performance may drop to around 100–150 FPS.
What I’ve already tried
Upgraded my RAM to 32GB DDR4 3600MHz, but the problem remained.
Lowered particle settings.
Tried various Windows optimizations and tweaks.
Used Chris Titus Tech WinUtil, but the stuttering existed even before I applied those tweaks.
The problem seems to occur in Rust specifically; other games don’t have the same issue.
I use OBS Replay Buffer, so recording software might be worth investigating.
What could be causing this?
Could this be related to Rust itself, shader compilation, bullet effects, frametime issues, OBS recording, NVIDIA drivers, or something else?
Has anyone experienced a similar issue, especially stuttering when bullets are visible despite high FPS?
I’d appreciate any suggestions or fixes. Thanks!

What are the current must haves when you are creating a base? I usually play solo/duo sometimes trio, but I’m after a very long break and never actually played the game and reached a proper end game state (I.e. huge base, electricity, farms, etc).
I typically played 5-10x due to time constraints, but even then the base meta doesn’t change much I imagine.
Any recommendations or advice on how to build strong bases? I really like the idea of a base I can defend, but never had the chance to look into it without jeopardising it in some way or the defence actually being effective.

Basically title, i want to know if someone has clothes/armor on them they are not wearing similar to weapons, it can be in their belt or back
Reason is, rn i just shoot nakeds on sight because they might have decent gear on them but they don’t have a weapon, so i see nothing.
P.S. the thought of equipping and unequipping clothes makes me feel a certain way too lol

and the loot was crap, 4 of the lightest elite crates ever:
1) single MP5 in it nothing else. just 1 item.
2) 128 rounds regular 5.56, 32 expo, 40 HV, and 60 Incendiary and nothing else. 4 low value items, since I have the BPs and can get sulfur.
3) 4 wep upgrades (1 expanded mag, 1 3 rnd burst, 1 scope, one laser) and nothing else. 4 items, mag and scope good, the rest fairly useless.
4) Glock 17, 32 rnds pistol ammo, 10 rnds incendiary pistol ammo, nothing else. 3 items, not worth much to my play style and level of progression on this wipe.
is that normal? built a whole armored tower for this shitty loot? seriously tell me this was just rng bad luck, if that is normal heli loot wtf is the point of heli? it was a huge pain to take down, ran away twice and finally did enough damage 3rd time to get it to crash half a map away. low pop so got the loot but sheesh it was so not worth it.
if i tried with more players online would loot be better?

Got super frustrated reading through all the fluff commits Rust puts out, so I spent a few weeks throwing this site together. Designed it based off of FP's commit website - it's simple but straightforward

Would appreciate feedback on what's useful & what to show on the site. Currently you can see upcoming updates, ordered by "Trending" (which is just what people are talking about) and new. Goal is really to make this the easiest place to get Rust news before the devblogs are out (and maybe to give you that edge over your next wipe). Cheers!
