Discussion Building/Base meta?
What are the current must haves when you are creating a base? I usually play solo/duo sometimes trio, but I’m after a very long break and never actually played the game and reached a proper end game state (I.e. huge base, electricity, farms, etc).
I typically played 5-10x due to time constraints, but even then the base meta doesn’t change much I imagine.
Any recommendations or advice on how to build strong bases? I really like the idea of a base I can defend, but never had the chance to look into it without jeopardising it in some way or the defence actually being effective.

Just build what seems fun and what you enjoy living in. For years every single base ive built with my team are my own designs which prioritize comfortable living with everything you need ( berry farms, chickens, electric furnace rooms + electricity, secure large furnace + refinery area, even a chill room with pool table, disco area etc. ).
To me easily moving around the base and that it doesnt feel cramped is much more important than heavily reinforced base, basic peeks to open core, outer shell and outside is enough. No need for crazy techs like pixel peeks and nade tubes.
Youll enjoy the game much more when you dont focus meta every time.

Which Ive noticed bases with the most fancy building shit on them tend to be the first ones that get raided by the bigger fish in the area. Their metal brick raid base doesn't care about your 500 peaks lol

I've always followed a couple of rules:
-
build next to some kind of rock/cliff to get 1-2 sides of the TC room to be impenetrable (sometimes you can leave one side out entirely (all rock).
-
In an old solo Youtube video someone (maybe Willijum) said "make it disgusting": make the base look like its already been raided twice and taken over by a noob.
-
very carefully think about how the base could be raided and put the valuable stuff in the hardest or more obscure part. You will be raided a "little bit" every wipe: few doors blown, until they realize the base is not worth it, especially with the shotgun traps making it annoying.
-
Did I mention shotgun traps. Yes. Lots of those. In the ceiling, on the walls, on the floors. In every room. Even if they come from above they'll have to deal with it.
-
Add a section/wing where you can defend and have some pvp just for fun: area where an enemy can advance but won't get into anywhere sensitive.

Been playing for over ten years, never have used a YouTube base or meta. I like it to look like shit so I'm not attractive but ensure the first 3 doors lead to a bunker so the poor can't finish the offline raid. If a big group wants it, none of it matters aside from hidden caches to start up again after an offline.

Yeah, that's what I do and half the time I don't lose my TC. The other half though... they come through the one armored roof straight into the TC :-)

Offline defense ? Rock base or cave no competition
Online defense ? Box base meta
(I like to build a rock/cave for offline with a box base outside to defend… best of both but lotta farmin)

My current meta: build a 2x2, go PvP, never honey comb or upgrade
(Don’t usually play more than one night at a time)

Go in a rock, build externals, add min 4 external bunkers, spread your loot, get offlined, rebuild with your spread loot, repeat.

I’m usually building something by limilab or spinky, depending on the wipe

meta is freestyle tc on a third floor triangle honneycomb.
