Discussion Auto turrets problem

Please help

I cannot connect more then 3 turrets together working in a chain. I am using branches, setting thre alue to 10, using a switch inside, have 12 large solar panels, and have a large battery

Please help me get them all to work at once

My guess would be that you connected the 2nd turret to 'Power out' on the branch, the turrets should be connected to 'branch out'

Ill try now

I did that. All turrets on the beach out and advancing chain with power our. Still only can connect 3

And then? No more power?

See how much goes INTO the first branch. If that is less than 40 you can't power more than three turrets. If it is >=40 you need (number of turrets -1) branches. So 3 branches for 4 turrets. Connect a turret to each Branch out, set all branches to 10. Connect a turret on the last powerOut. connect all the other powerOuts to the powerIns of the next branch

You say working in a chain. Yet you referenced branches. For 3 I would use one branch set to 30, then wire output to a switch and the switch out to a splitter and feed the 3 from the splitter.

But your not giving the real problem, sure your battery can handle 30/100 output. But are your 12 panels actually providing enough to charge? Are the turrets dieing? What isn't working?

My Google search said "chain" them with electrical branches. I will try your splitter method

Branches split off a set amount of power. Most people use one branch per turret, each set to 10. Some people use a branch set to 30, then use a splitter which has three outputs and power a turret with each of those outputs.

"Chaining" branches together is probably meaning to chain the branches, not the turrets. Set each branch to 10, wire the POWER OUT to the next branch in the chain. Wire a BRANCH OUT to each individual turret. Make sure they are all set to 10

Alternatively just watch a YouTube video. Shouldn't be too complicated

I would do it without the switch, I just added that because it seemed like you wanted a on/off

How do I tell if I have enough panels and in position? My time remaining stays at about 5 hours

12 panels is double the amount I usually do for turrets (2 solar panels per turret usually) are you sure you dont have a bunch of other things in your circuit that doesnt leave adequate power to run your turrets?

Edit: FYI solar panels provide 20 power max, I would suggest looking into a video that ges over the north/south pointing orientation or the latest precedent for solar panels to receive the most light on your solar panels (last it was majority of solar panels pointing north with a few south for when the seasons change)

piggy backing off OP. You can basically diasy chain turrets together? why would you add in the switch? I get the branch and throttling the output to 30, but don't get the switch part.

Also you mentioned a second splitter, but if you're chaining them aren;t you passing the wire through the turrets one to the next?

sorry, stupid question put fairly poorly

The switch us to turn them off to maintenance

FYI, if you have a wiring tool, you can disconnect a turret's power in cable to perform maintenance without turning the rest off and just plug it back in when complete.

As I connect more together the ones ipreciously connected that worked shit off. The server says a max of 24 turrets

I fixed the issue. I believe trying to use the switch at the start of the branch would only let me power 3 turrets no matter what I did. I went directly from the battery to a splitter to a branch loop of 3, then the second slot of the splitter to another branch loop of 2 (only have 5 now because I was getting attacked while setting up)

Get rid of the Splitter. Go Solar Panel > Root Combiner > Battery > Branch > Turret.

Each branch Power Out goes to next branch Power In. Each Branch out goes straight to turret.

If you want a Switch just go Battery > Switch > Branch.

Power in> branch > branch out 10> branch to turret > power out of branch to power input of second branch> branch out 10 to turret > power out of second branch to third brand power in> branch out 10 to turret

Continuous

Thus is the method im using. With the chain starting at a power switch

Do you mean a regular switch ? It has to be user error, remove the switch and just hardwire

Yes a regular switch

Hold you wire tool and look at the battery you are connecting the turrets too. What is the power in/power out and charge of the battery?
