Meta Blueprint meta for next force wipe

I believe for next wipe with how workbenches are going to be as they were before prior to the fragments. The game will be generally easier. Considering the fact that blueprints themselves are still going to be an issue, there’ll be ways to work around it.

I personally believe the new meta will be to struggle on the first wipe of the month. By the end of the wipe go out, search for decayed/raided bases. Then you can do your researching. Therefore all you need to have next wipe is the stuff to craft and the workbenches. I personally see it easier said than done. I do this currently even with the fragments but at least I don’t need to worry about blueprints let alone scrap besides mini’s.

Tbh I do think people are overestimating how difficult it will be to get bps. You can still research using scrap with the research bench, there is the prototype upgrade, and at least T1 and T2 workbenches will be pretty easy to go down seeing as how you can get the frags by running the road, and you can trade them up.

Yeah, but if we’re talking the easiest way. At least for me. I work 40 hours a week. I wouldn’t mind to hop on the last day before wipe getting the bps so next time I play I can craft anything I need after a couple hours of farming for workbenches

I also work and the monthly softcore server has been the only way I can play now lol. I was around last time they had this BP system and honestly think this will be a good change. People will have more incentive to trade for higher bp's to research

20% per barrel, and 10 frags make a page, will basically be a lot like before the bp frag update except things like selling fertilizer still won't help. 20% for a frag from gutting fish means a bunch of fish traps or a fishing base could be a serious meta for solos or small teams.

I already go ham on fishing for scrap alone lol. I didnt notice this in the commits. Gonna have to test creamy pure harvesting tea with it

"I personally believe the new meta will be to struggle on the first wipe of the month. By the end of the wipe go out, search for decayed/raided bases. Then you can do your researching."

This is something that has gone on for many years and didn't go away with the existing BF Frag system it was just a little harder to do.

I mention it because people don’t acknowledge it from what I see. I agree it’s been an aged thing. But people don’t acknowledge it and hate on the update

Honestly I don't see a reason acknowledge it because the only way to solve it is to wipe bps every wipe.

I'll be honest I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I said it because that’s what you’re saying 😂.

This whole thing I’m just giving insight to people who aren’t as dedicated to the grind or for people who just hadn’t thought of it.

That was the 2016 rust Meta. Was also kind of the whole idea of Rust. you struggle once and if you work hard, do you get to have an edge for the rest of the wipes? People starting to understand full circle what the game was already doing in the past it’s kind of funny to see.

I feel like even the devs are doing the full circle cause many of them are new

It just hit me recently but if you can outskill or grub someone with better gear than you, then you can quickly progress through the tech tree without any fragments needed at all. Exact same thing if you get lucky from some crates. All you need is a large amount of scrap and you can convert the items into a ton of blueprints at the research bench. Killing someone with a T2 means you can unlock all their equipment with 300ish scrap, before you even craft the T2 bench. Same with T3 equipment, but you'll need 1500 scrap at least.

Since multiple monuments contain research benches, you can literally grub someone's kit and then sacrifice their items before they get back if you have enough scrap.

It means if you join late, being good at PVP or grubbing allows you to catch up to whoever was already in the server. Blueprints are needed to grind your way through the tech tree, scrap is needed to kill your way through the tech tree.

Getting lucky from crates/killing someone with better gear will feel better than it ever has before.

Here's something else that's really important. A lot of structures such as planter boxes can be found naturally in barrels, and cost only 20 scrap to research. T1 clothing items are also quite cheap.

TLDR; You can completely avoid using blueprint fragments and very quickly unlock tech tree by spending time in monuments, getting lucky or killing more powerful players.

finally people starting to understand why 2016 rust was king

It's funny, I was reading his "revelation" thinking, dude you're describing old rust lol

more than likely people will use both in combination with buying from vending machines. with those three methods in use people will be unlocking BP's faster than ever before. just imagine joining a wipe 3-4 hours in and instantly getting gunned down by SAR's and thompson's by nearly everyone. it's going to be a whole new kind of hell that ends up killing the wipe before a full week even passes.

It will result in me coming back to the game though, so it might not be as dead!

Edit: There were always people with SARs 3 hours into the wipe. Even with the current system. Basically you can get a t2 bench 20-30 minutes into the force wipe. 3 hours in you could have a tier 3 with everything unlocked in the next 2 hours. Then you're playing with an AK versus mainly crossbows and revolvers. You can technically gatekeep other people their progression by just holding down the puzzles that they need. How is that any fun for anyone?

You just have to be the sweatiest/luckiest person on the server who gets to snowball incredibly hard compared to everyone else. I very much disliked that system. I like to take things slow, explore an area before deciding to build there, and ultimately not be forced to be a sweaty Rust player.

Often times during force wipe I would just keep spawning naked and craft a bow or an eoka, to see what area I would enjoy the vibe of most. Nowadays you're simply forced to build near puzzle monuments (t1+t2), unless you want to vending machine your way to progression, which is not the fun Rust experience imo.

A lot of the more casual players/roleplayers will likely return to the game. There's no rush to be sweaty in order to progress anymore. You can build anywhere you want and pick up progression anytime. It's just infinitely more fun to me.

i was on staging for 15 mins and got 25 BP fragments from running the road at a very casual pace. this change isn't just going to make things "easier" it's going to make advancing in the game faster than ever before! everyone is going to be speed-running through tier 1&2 BP's and only fighting it out for tier 3 BP's the second day into wipe.

it's going to be really bad. you think server populations died fast before? this is going to triple the speed of server decline. the percentage chances of getting BP frags is actually insane! that and not requiring any scrap to unlock research in the tech tree is a massive mistake.

i really wish facepunch would just give up on the damn BP crap and just go back to the original scrap system with the ability to pay scrap on the workbenches to unlock a random thing. it was so much better that way.

I agree. Again. Being employed I don’t get too much time to play. But with the current fragments it’s almost too hard with the times I get to play.

Before the fragments at least there was 1 currency (scrap) that was somewhat obtainable but hard to get an abundance of and the blueprints actually costed a significant amount of it prior to the bp fragments update.

And there’s no reason to why servers should be in the position to die 4 fuckin days before wipe, it’s getting ridiculous. Almost makes me not want to play. I get to play 2 solid days of getting a solid start and base going, then the 3rd trying to get to t2-t3. And then the servers already dead.

The progression meta for higher level players who don’t want to go collect T3 fragments themselves will be:

  1. Get T3 ASAP

  2. While doing that, stock up on sulfur and scrap, then buy MP5/AK, garage door, C4, launcher, rocket, explosive for sulfur (trust me, people will be selling them like crazy).

  3. Research them for scrap.

  4. Start selling those items for sulfur and undercut everyone.

  5. Raid for everything else, selling more and more items for sulfur as you unlock them.

Everything in T2/T3 now has a significantly higher sulfur value than it once did, ESPECIALLY early in wipe before price competition starts. The players who unlock useful items early and start selling them ASAP will snowball at an insane pace and have more sulfur coming in than they know what to do with.

u/mca1169 9h ago

the pace of progression is going to be insane. between buying things from vending machines, easy BP frag tech tree unlocks and researching items with scrap most people will have tier 2 done by the end of day 1 and full raiding mid day two. most servers won't last a full week if that before dying out.

u/RahloRust 8h ago

Sounds just like it is now but with more groups/players overall getting T2 sooner (but not T2 guns)

Shoot i think people are too hung up on the tech tree and completely forget that using scrap to research at the research table is still an option.

Scrap is still easy to come across, and now (tbh you could always do this) you can get your early wipe come up whatever that is, go home, research a kit or anything valuable and use blueprint frags for the rest.

If you really want to, and you've got frags to spare you can craft pages for tier 2, but that stuff is pretty common in green crates, airdrops and locked crates, so researching those with scrap is still better than relying on pages.

In November's wipe, blueprint frags/pages/books will be the last resort to get anything you're still struggling to find, while scrap+research table becomes the main way to progress.

Rather game be easier anyway since all it did was get easier for groups with this change

The consensus is as follows: if it’s only going to slow down small groups then we just want fast progression back and say fuck it

You got two choices. Let game be easy for big groups and hard for you, or game be easy for big groups and for you too

1

u/RahloRust 8h ago

Selling med/ammo is gonna be lucrative trust

Or just selling the BPs if you have a bunch of scrap, research table them and put em in vendy

1

u/Ok-Bite-5816 7h ago

The game has been easy for big groups since it was made. Fast progression is bad and no band aid will solve it besides just silently nerfing all the different means of scrap gathering that they’ve added over the years. Thats literally it.

What are you referring to? I'm not familiar with that.
