I was running argon at medium setting, exhausted 5hr lim in i think around 5 prompts. no coding involved, just web search and stuff. also the way this model responds seems idk a bit different than 3.1 pro, and takes waaaaayyy too long to respond

Discussion Google with Argon

I think that Google only gave us Argon because they were way way past their "Gemini 3.5 pro" release date and the other companies were releasing brand new model to attract google customers base.

But because this model cost an arm and a leg to run, they gave us, poor limit, 3 prompt per 5 hours for pro subscribers, to reduce the bleeding in their finance until they can ship an Argon 4 Flash

What do you think?

Discussion ONE MESSAGE to Opus 5.5 in Antigravity drained 75% of my weekly limit 🥀

Yes, it says "Resets in 19h." That's because I sent one message to GPT-OSS earlier this week when I accidentally selected it, which only drained 1% tho. The Opus limits are ABYSMAL...

Discussion You guys weren't lying about the usage limit

I asked 2 questions with Argon at High thinking and I'm rate limited. It'd be fine if I could just bounce back to 3.8 but we're stuck with 3.5 flash-lite which feels like the stone age. Luckily I don't pay that much for my Pro membership because of some discounts but Argon is genuinely usuable with how stingy they are.

Edit: I made a mistake upon checking I asked 3 questions not 2 😔

Discussion Switched between Gemini and Claude for coding for a month, rough notes

I kept flipping between the two for actual day job coding and wrote down impressions as I went. Claude still feels a touch more reliable when I hand it a messy existing codebase and say fix this without breaking that. Gemini wins for me on big context dumps, I can throw a lot more at it and it keeps up. Neither one nails the almost right but not quite problem, I still spend real time reviewing both. Honestly the gap between them is small enough now that I pick based on which tab is already open. Anyone found a task where one clearly beats the other?

Discussion Google AI search is now smarter than Gemini in the app lol

Everyone knows that the free version of Gemini was recently nerfed. And I started noticing something strange... I get the feeling that "some unknown and outdated" Gemini model built into Google Search... is now smarter than "Auto Gemini 3.5" in Gemini itself. The model built into Search tends to give longer, more detailed answers, reasons more logically, and knows more facts(i mean, internal knowledge without triggering web search). Basically, if you need to quickly do some tasks and don't want to keep a chat history...as strange as it may sound...it's now more logical to use Google Search with AI mode.

Help/question Gemini seems dumber now

I've been using Gemini pro for about a year and have been happy with it. Currently using 3.1 pro. But I noticed it's acting differently than it used to.

For example, I have a gem created for assistance with code. And in the past whenever I posted about a function, it gave me advice that included knowledge of that function or related functions from other chats in the same gem.

But today I did the same thing and instead of giving me an informed response, it gave me a generic response like it was the first time it had seen that function.

Also, I use Gemini to verify social media posts that I question whether they're true or not. Whenever I would do that it was just automatically look for references and legitimate newspapers or other sites that verify authenticity of things.

But today I did the exact same thing and it just said I can't tell if that's true or not, and then advised me to look it up using reliable sources (which is what it used to do automatically). So I said, please look it up using reliable sources. And then it did so and gave me the answer. But I never had to tell it to do that before.

Anyone else experiencing these kinds of issues with gemini?

Discussion The irony of Google’s free tier strategy in the GPT-6 Luna / Sonnet 5.5 era

Is anyone else finding it incredibly difficult to justify using the free tier of the Gemini app right now?

The competitive landscape shifted massively this month, making Google’s current strategy look completely backward. OpenAI recently dropped GPT-6 Luna for free users with virtually no everyday text limits, and Anthropic is giving free accounts access to Sonnet 5.5 under a fair usage cap.

Meanwhile, Google is forcing free accounts onto "Gemini Auto," which restricts us to the much weaker Flash-Lite model under tight compute guardrails. If you want a model that can actually compete with what OpenAI and Anthropic are giving away for free, Google forces you to pay for an AI Pro subscription.

But here is the real kicker: even if you do pay for Google's top-tier Gemini 4 Argon, it still falls behind Sonnet 5.5 in so many use cases anyway. You are essentially being asked to pay a premium subscription fee for performance that Anthropic is letting free tier users access under a fair usage cap. On top of that, even GPT-6 Luna can perform some long horizon tasks completely for free, while Gemini Free struggles with basic prompt chains.

It feels incredibly ironic. OpenAI and Anthropic are treating their free tiers like genuine showcases of their highly capable tech, while Google is locking down an inferior model. It’s hard to see how Flash-Lite keeps everyday users in the Gemini ecosystem when the alternatives are this much better.

What are your thoughts?

Discussion Argon limits on Pro Plan

I have read many posts about limits last days. And

Just now I did run Argon High on big task, ( read about 20 scripts with different mathematical formulas, in few words the project which I'm work with Opus already a month. ).

And after analysing whole project and providing adjustment instructions, it spent 8% of weekly Argon limit. ( Was run it in Antigravity built in Gemini Desktop App).

As for me it is not bad. I'm agree that it would be great if they will provide us similar volume of capacity as Claude on pro plan, however, it is not extremely small quota as many people post in this sub.

Also, probably in my case Argon was work with code / math and on such tasks it drain quota slower than for example in case I will assign him to browse the web.

My opinion that Google provides us well enough amount of performance capacity, but we just need to design our prompts and tasks well, to get reliable results. For example, it is better to assign Flash model to prepare data and only run Argon to analyse it. And don't run Argon on some tasks which don't require high intelligence.

Help/question Switching to Gemini from Claude

I am thinking of switching from Claude to Gemini. My usage is mostly casual - asking many general questions and asking the agent to build a sheet for me from time to time. I am mostly asking financial news, theories, and maybe some pokemon lineup suggestions. My priority is lesser hallucination rate and conversational friendly with great summary. Is it worth it?

Help/question Just got google AI pro plan, how to make best use of it

Hi all, software developer by trade. I re-enrolled in school this year for something unrelated to software engineering but saw where google was giving out free year of the ai pro plan so I signed up for it. My current workflow is mostly claude code + github copilot (after switching away from cursor). How can I best utilize this new plan? I've only messed around with gemini a bit, nothing real deep. Is antigravity a must on this plan or is there a good gemini extension inside vscode?

Discussion what's something you'd tell Gemini but never a friend?

• Upvotes

for me it's money problems, work stuff, health worries, and random late-night thoughts. things i'd never say out loud to my friends, but back then i'd type it all into gemini ai chat without thinking twice. total noob mistake lol

then i found out gemini's privacy page literally says some chats get read by actual human reviewers, and those can be kept for up to 3 years. they even tell you not to type anything confidential you wouldn't want a reviewer to see. kinda freaked me out ngl

these days i use dreamfort ai for the personal stuff (full disclosure i work there). it still has gemini but in private mode, and idk it just feels safer. regular gemini is still fine for everything else tho

anyway, what's yours? lol
