Seriously considering just ditching google and just pay for storage. Might as well use Codex or Claude. Codex hands out resets like they're Oprah

I got two Jio 18-month subscriptions across both of my Google accounts for just €4, so getting 10 TB of cloud storage is a pretty fair deal. I use Antigravity to create Blender videos, and I really wish I could even use 3.1 Pro. Unfortunately, as a Pro user, my only option is 3.8 Flash.
The biggest problem is that Flash is fine for basic chatbot tasks, but it falls short when it comes to complex projects that require a large context window, consistent reasoning, and handling multiple interconnected tasks. We need Argon to be available everywhere, with usage limits comparable to 3.1 Pro. Having access to a powerful model shouldn't be limited to specific platforms when we're already paying for a Pro subscription.

Doesn’t make sense just 6 questions and you are 100%..

u/Strong-Set-3701 13h ago
No ? Unless you are giving it A LOT of context Argon shouldn't run off with 6 questions. I've been using quite a lot the past 4 days and have hit the 5h limite just twice and am barely at 30% of my weekly usage.
I've also been using it in antigravity and have used less than 20% on my weekly limits vibe coding 2 apps. For a 29€ subscription I share with 4 family members that is great value.

I noticed the same as you for antigravity. But I found the 6 prompts the OP complained about to be true, when using the Gemini app on either iOS or MacOS. Especially in “Task” mode. This is my experience paying the full $20 US “Pro” subscription.

It's just simply shocking the amount of quota they have given to Pro subscribers, I have completely stopped use and unless it improves my money is going elsewhere

u/johnthedowe2 19h ago
It's like a very short demo amount of use before hitting the limits. They don't want people using it frequently on pro or lower. Gotta shell out the cash for Ultra if you want decent Argon use.

u/Kun-ADR 18h ago
Man this is so true. Just 3 or 4 prompts and my quota is gone. I don’t know what the hell Google is thinking over there
1
u/LionTigerWings 18h ago
The antigravity app has it's own separate bucket for argon that lets you use a weekly budget. I was able to start a webapp from scratch and prompt it a bunch of times and still have 50% of my weekly budget (specific to argon). Seemed pretty decent in this use case.

This implies that the user is having a hard time reaching their quota because google is holding it too high.
which I have to assume is the opposite of the point you’re trying to make.

Google is a publicly traded company that can't subsidize $bns in compute losses the way that Anthropic or OpenAI can. This is just what the future of 'pro' membership plans look like for each service.
3
u/Bagelsarenakeddonuts 18h ago
Yeah no, thats not it. They just know what their actual goal is.
Google is one of the only ones that actually can subsidize, since it has such a strong revenue stream. But it doesn't, because it realizes that it can't win the professional market in a way that turns a profit, and it doesn't need serious usage limits to rake in the nearly endless casual users who are happy to give it limitless personal data for nearly indefinite use and storage.
For them its never been about cutting edge AI, its always been about how to get people to give it data at their lowest cost. Thats why they have always focused so much on fast output and cheap serving, and "good enough" performance. Also why they integrated it into literally everything they could think of.

u/MindCrusader 18h ago
The difference is Google doesn't need high revenue numbers for IPO, as opposed to Anthropic and OpenAI

I asked argon to say hi back. it used up 26% of my usage (5hour) just to say hi.
”Hi say hi back”

TBH I discovered most people complaining about quota in this subreddit uses the Jio plan. I am not saying google is perfect or something. flash is bad at reasoning ain't lying but you have control. you are not expecting to get opus 5.5 for 18months for just 2 or 3 usds you know
7
u/OKMiddleOwl 17h ago
I pay for the full price pro plan in the US and have been pretty confused what people could be doing to use their quota so fast.
Checking the project I have been working on in AG the last few days, I have ~86 minutes of thinking time combined and still have 22% quota left.
I also suspect that your country/location also plays into what size quota you have.

u/LetterRip 10h ago
I've regularly hit the 5 hour limit after 5 exchanges on Gemini Argon, simple text discussions, nothing particularly long.

u/Important_Earth6615 17h ago
I am Egyptian and it feels good to me TBH. I am guessing its because Jio + most people are dumb enough to just give an ambiguous task to a small model and let him hallucinate the rest which can work on opus 5.5 high only not a flash model that's incredibly good but has massive flaws if he works on his own that's why I did cotalk btw

u/Important_Earth6615 18h ago
The way I use flash is by making opus or codex a lead which allows gemini to be focused on a specific task with specific range of info that he must use it directly. I do that with https://github.com/alielmorsy/cotalk

You should disclose that you made the tool, Ali.

u/Important_Earth6615 16h ago
You can see clearly claude as a contributor and we are a in subreddit literally called Gemini AI. I ran AI on it as a sub project in deed I am surprised that you are surprised TBH

u/BuildingArmor 15h ago
They didn't say you should disclose that you used AI. They said you should disclose that you made the tool.

I think there may be a simple explanation. I think Google cannot compete with how efficient other frontier models are. To match the same quality of results, Argon has to expend a lot more effort/tokens.
1
u/WiseHalmon 17h ago
Argon low does okay, and can be less tokens than others to solve the same problem. Just add something like "be extremely conservative with token input / output"

Damn, this image model was state of the art a few months ago, and now it looks terrible.
-2
u/Mysterious_Ayytee 18h ago
Because you're high as fuck and not really that smart to use your tokens with Argon to generate stupid memes. SAD.
/s if it's not obvious enough

I didn't go to art school, nor am I an English major...
But I'm not sure this image is depicting what the general consensus on these boards have been complaining about.
This image is implying that a "Pro User" cannot reach "Your Quota".
Like, this image is implying that "Google has raised the limits so high that you would never reach it".
A better image (comic strip panels?) would probably be something more along the lines of:
You are purchasing a car that you see online...
But when you get it delivered, it is only as big as the tiny image you saw on your phone's screen.
It's not NEARLY big enough to do the task you bought it for.
