DISCUSSION How we save Save The World.

• Upvotes

Let’s face it Fortnite is ran by a corporation who forgot about the reason they made such a fun innovative and artistic game such as save the world. So the real way we get them to pay attention is money. I will be submitting a feature request list and I’d appreciate it if you’d all look it over and add or subtract ideas you think wouldn’t work. I genuinely think there’s some base to all of these points in getting them more players and more money.

Save the World feedback from a longtime player

STW has held its player base for years with almost no promotion while other modes came and went. That's a loyal PvE audience most games would kill for. Here's how I think you could grow it and make it pay for itself:

  1. Visibility. Put STW back on the main mode select. Every time it gets promoted the numbers jump (free to play launch hit 100k+), then it sinks once it's buried in Discover again.

  2. Trading. Bring it back with gates instead of turning it off. Unlock it after an account hits a certain age or power level, or allow one way gifting from high level to low level players with daily caps. Stops bot farms but lets vets help newbies through the grind.

  3. Sell gold. Direct purchase only for PERK-UP!, survivors, and storage, never llamas. PvE pay to progress hurts nobody since a geared player helps their squad. Keep free gold rates where they are so it's a time saver, not a wall.

  4. Homebase as a real base. Make the Storm Shield a place to customize and show off. Paid cosmetic building kits and decor, display spots for rare heroes and weapons, and let friends visit. Missions could drop trophies and materials you bring back and build with.

  5. Paid story expansions. Finish the campaign and sell new chapters like DLC. Vets would pay to see Twine Peaks get an ending. And a 6 star region

  6. Paid track on Ventures seasons, plus hero skins usable in both STW and BR so STW gets a cut of the shop and BR players see it exists.

  7. Big boss raids. Build on Storm King and Challenge the Rift with multi phase bosses, learnable patterns, and weekly reward lockouts. Monetize with boss trophies and themed cosmetics, never paid entry.

  8. Factions. Server wide factions competing on shared goals like shields defended or husks killed, with territory on a world map, shared resource storage, and live events where factions push storm fronts together. Keep it mostly PvE. Sell faction banners, emotes, and decor.

  9. Event heroes. Hard to earn or buyable, strong but not broken, and they come back in future events. Make an exclusive skin variant the limited part.

  10. Supporter packs once a year with cosmetics and gold for vets who want to back the mode.

  11. Support-A-Creator for STW. Give creators who make STW content a better SAC cut on STW purchases like gold, Ventures passes, and base kits. Right now there's no reason for creators to cover the mode, so they don't, and that's half of why new players never hear about it. Pay them to play it and they'll bring their audiences with them.

STW doesn't need a reboot. It needs to be seen and to earn its own budget. Thanks for bringing it back free, please keep building on it.

QUESTION Is there any builds that make cupids crossbow viable? Or is it horrible? I'm tempted to get it from the collection book because it looks nice and fits with pink skins (like ctl)

I know it's probably dumb to even ask because I never see anybody run it, so there must be a reason why

I'm leaning more towards getting the gammatron from the collection book for survivors, but im still curious

SUGGESTION A new addition to hero builds

Post image
• Upvotes

So i know that sprites aren't everyone's favourite thing but I think they could bring an interesting addition to loadouts,

My idea is you can add 3 sprites to your loadout (in the red circle area) that give benefits and have levels

1st sprites would accessible in STW through quests, and only the base version of sprites would be nessacery.

2nd sprites would have their xp grouped with survivors instead of having their own dedicated one

Some ideas for sprites ive had would be

Water sprite: adds a chance for each shot/swing of your weapon to add the water element, chance increases each level [can not be combined with other sprites that have same effect but will work with the weapons element]

Fire sprite: same as water but for the fire element

Earth sprite: same as water but for nature

Zero point sprite: same as water but for energy

Vampire sprite: siphons health and energy from husks when killing them with a weapon, amount healed increases each level [based on max health and energy]

King sprite: increases pickaxe damage, damage increases each level

Boss sprite: increases base health and shield, amount increases each level

Grim sprite: husks below a certain health threshold will immediately die, threshold increases with each level [mist monsters and bosses instead take a percent of their max health as damage when reaching 50% health] (effect applies only with weapons)

Llama sprite: husks have a chance to drop additional resources, amount increases each level

Ramirez sprite: decreases solider ability cooldowns and boost soilder abilities power, amount increases with each level[weapons used by soilders have a 20% per shot to not consume ammo] <- effect only applies at max level

Kyle sprite: decreases construtor ability cooldown and boosts construtor ability damage, amount increases with each level[when building chance to not consume materials and builds have health increased by 20%] <-effect only applies at max level

Ken sprite: decreases Ninja ability cooldown and boosts ninja ability power, amount increases with each level [each hit from a melee weapons has a chance to throw a shuriken at the nearest husk dealing 30% of the weapons damage] <- effect only applies at max level

Jess sprite: decreases outlander ability cooldown and boost outlander ability damage, amount increases with each level [fragments are no longer consumed and instead boost Fragment ability damage by 1% per fragment] <- effect only applies at max level

King sprite: boosts weapon and ability damage by your current power level, this sprite does not level up instead its the same level as your power level

Storm sprite: increases weapon and ability damage against mist monster and bosses, amount increases each level

Cake sprite: husks can drop cake which when consumed heals health and energy and increases damage decaying over 10 seconds, chance for cake to drop increases each level

Honey sprite: dealing weapon and ability damage has a chance to spawn a beehive, the beehive will deal damage in a area around it until its destroyed, chacne to spawn increases each level

QUESTION Have you ever thought about what it would feel like to spend tens of thousands of hours on STW, only for everything to be gone one day?

I've been playing STW since 2017. Every weapon maxed out, collection book completed level 1000 And then, one day, someone hacks into your account and takes everything away from you. And here's a spoiler for you: nobody is going to help you, just like nobody helped me.

DISCUSSION Anyone else think Epic has been using Fortnite as an AI/Vibe Coding testing ground for the past 2 years?

Hear me out on this, because the timeline makes too much sense.

Epic Games doesn’t put in the massive amount of work they have over the last two years without it being profitable in some way—especially not for a game that went free-to-play. The only logical explanation for the state of the game right now is heavy AI integration and prompt-based "vibe coding".

To Epic, the math is simple: AI = more content (not necessarily better) = more profit. Look at Tim Sweeney’s absolute obsession with AI game development on his X profile. He literally announced a "huge pivot" toward maximum AI acceleration.

If you think this is just a conspiracy theory, Epic literally just admitted that the new preview launcher was fully vibe coded. Their official announcement literally read: "Programming is hard. So, instead of doing that, we vibe coded a new Epic Games Launcher." They completely ditched hand-written code for AI prompts. And we all saw how that went—it hilariously launched Among Us when people tried to boot up Fortnite!

Look at what happened with the leadership shift when Steve Allison left. The new guy put in charge of the Epic Games Launcher, Martin Keely, was also put in charge of Epic Online Services—which handles our matchmaking.

The results speak for themselves: we now have a buggy, disastrous launcher paired with an even worse matchmaking system. This isn't the future of "good" AI use; it looks like the roadmap for a gaming company digging its own grave.

Was the Homebase Hub just the ultimate exam to pass the AI dev/vibe coding test? Or is this broken launcher the real final boss?

DISCUSSION Hero Concept / Balance Suggestion: Bring back a portion of the Bow Hitbox via a new Hero Perk!

• Upvotes

Hello Epic Team and RDW Community,

As we all know, the Xenon Bow projectile size was significantly reduced to match regular bows. While the balance change makes sense from a technical standpoint, it made the bow much more frustrating to use against fast targets, especially since the Xenon Bow (Energy) is our only reliable universal option compared to the Vacuum Tube Bow (locked to Nature, useless against Fire husks).
I have a highly balanced compromise that uses the opportunity costs of the Hero Loadout system:
Introduce a new Hero with a perk that specifically increases the projectile hitbox size of bows!

• Support Team Perk: Increases bow projectile hitbox size by 35% to 45%.

• Commander Perk: Increases bow projectile hitbox size by 98% (restoring the old Xenon Bow feel).

Why this is balanced:

Players who want that comfortable "ease of use" back would have to sacrifice a valuable slot in their support team (like dropping a damage buff from a Totally Rocking Out). You pay with lower raw damage to get bette accuracy. It gives players a choice and respects their playstyle without making the weapon baseline overpowered again.
Please consider this for a future update or a new seasonal hero!

DISCUSSION Is Epic Purposefully killing Save the world?

i think everyones noticed that in the past few months epic has just been doing things to make the game more tedious to play. with the matchmaking and nerfs being the most prevalent. when you really think about it why would they keep the game alive? theres almost no place for profit. the gamemodes free and if they put in microtransactions & removed vbucks everyone would complain. the people working on the game are also professional devs who have decades of experience. surely they can do a better job, with the matchmaking especially. and the little new quests they keep adding that started with hunt the titan is a tiny bit of content they make with almost no effort in order to make the playerbase think they care. and wont suspect that theyre actually just purposefully killing the game in the long term. the stw community is one of the best ive been apart of because after years of little to no content they still stick around. but eventually everyone will be worn out with these unnecessary updates that only serve to make the game slower. like the homebase.

QUESTION Lefty Righty or Shredder Crit Build?

My current soldier build is a Rabbit Raider Jonesy, but I'm considering making one with the new Grave Feather hero.

What are y'all's recommendations on builds?

(Perk and hero build recommendations for the shredder build would also be greatly appreciated. My current one was just made off of vibes)

Welcome to Teacher Tuesday, a thread where anyone can ask any type of question without the fear of getting deathly glares by a passing Blaster! Questions can range from whats new in Fortnite, whats the current meta, or even where did the storm even come from? Questions can come from brand new players, players returning, or veteran players who never got a chance to ask the right question(s).

SUGGESTION Some Quality of Life updates that would be great to see

I think neither of these ideas would require a lot of effort to make but they would greatly improve the experience, at least for me!

1.

We should be able to "connect" a skin to each Hero Loadout. Right now if you have a skin equipped it's used all the time, no matter what Loadout you use. If you would be able to "connect" a skin to each Loadout it would also change automatically.

For example I'd like to use Red Ruin Joni for a Ninja loadout but for a Minigun build I'd rather use something like Megalo Don. At the moment I need to manually change the skin each time I change loadouts. Not a big issue but it would be really nice to have.

2.

We should be able to put skins on our Defenders. It would be really nice to have matching Defenders to our Commander (or skin). Like imagine using Darth Vader while having Stormtrooper defenders, or anything really, the possibilites are endless lol

This could end up in buying skins I wouldn't use for myself but I would for my Defenders.

3.

At the moment your Hotbar is shared across every Loadout. If you have a lot of Loadouts this can make it hard to remember which weapon belongs to which loadout, so I think the Hotbar (the 3 slots you can access without opening the inventory) should be unique to each Loadout.

QUESTION Fortnite uninstalled itself from my PS4?

So it could be just an error in my PS4, but I was playing Fortnite yesterday just fine, turned it on today and suddenly Fortnite wasn't there. Ever happened to anyone else? I know I didn't accidentally uninstall it myself, because the buttons are multiple columns away from each other and also uninstalling takes like 3 steps.

QUESTION What are some indirect non Teddy perks that can affect Teddy?

Post image
62 Upvotes

I wonder what other non teddy perks in the game affects Teddy. For instance, the Rockin Riff works on Teddy, I used battle beat to trigger it but forgot sub wafers also do it, making that instead more reliable to trigger it as you can use it any time before deploying Teddy. Cyberclop's plasma arc affects energy related things, including the turret meaning it will proc his perk. Grave Feather's hero perk Ghoulslinger affects Teddy when using Jilly Teacup's under Warranty as the crits count triggering the phantasms, and Under Warranty I believe does affect the lasers that come out of Staredown Southie's perk Bear Stare, not sure how it works if it needs to be the exact second Teddy finds a new target or not, but I did notice it did a chunk of damage on a husky. I'm not sure if that is all of it but let me know if I am missing any.
