Discussion A Year Ago... This Community Laughed at Me for Talking About Gyro. Now Explain KolGyro.

About a year ago, I came into this community talking about the future of gyro in competitive Fortnite.

I was ridiculed.

Dismissed.

And treated like some idiot who didn’t understand competitive Fortnite because I believed there was something extraordinary hiding inside a controller that almost nobody was seriously exploring.

Well, guess what?

I’M BACK.

And this time... didn’t come here with just an opinion.

I came back with a year’s worth of experimentation, an entire educational community, a documentary series, and something far more important than anything I’ve accomplished.

KolGyro.

LET’S TALK ABOUT THE GREATEST COMPETITIVE GYRO PLAYER IN THE WORLD.

I’m going to make a statement that some of you are probably going to laugh at.

I believe KolGyro is the greatest competitive Fortnite gyro player in the world.

And I think his accomplishments deserve a hell of a lot more attention than they’re getting.

Here’s why.

THREE CONSECUTIVE FNCS GRAND FINALS APPEARANCES.

  • FNCS Major 1 Asia Grand Finals — 25th place.
  • FNCS Major 2 Asia Grand Finals — 28th place.
  • FNCS Solos — 28th place.

THREE.

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK.

Against some of the most competitive Fortnite players in the world.

Using GYRO.

Not a mouse.

Not traditional controller aiming.

GYRO.

Now before somebody jumps into the comments to explain how that doesn’t make him better than Peterbot, or how Asia isn’t EU, or how gyro doesn’t matter because he didn’t win the entire tournament…

You’re missing the point.

I’m not arguing that Kol is the greatest Fortnite player in the world.

I’m arguing that he has established himself as one of the most accomplished competitive gyro players we’ve ever seen.

And that should matter to a community supposedly interested in the future of competitive Fortnite.

Where is the recognition?

Where is the competitive coverage?

Where is Epic Games?

Where is Jibb Smart... the man who helped bring this incredible implementation of gyro to Fortnite?

Why aren’t more people talking about what Kol has accomplished?

WHY IS A 47-YEAR-OLD GARAGE DOOR GUY FROM TEXAS HAVING TO MAKE THIS ARGUMENT?

NOW LET’S GO BACK TO WHAT HAPPENED HERE A YEAR AGO.

When I came here talking about gyro... I wasn’t claiming to be a professional.

I wasn’t claiming to be better than anybody.

I was asking why we had stopped experimenting with controller input.

Why was aim assist the end of the conversation?

Why was everyone so convinced that the limitations of traditional controller aiming were the limitations of the controller itself?

Why weren’t we exploring what gyro could actually do?

And the reaction?

Ridicule.

Dismissal.

The same old arguments about why mouse and keyboard would always be superior.

Well... here’s my question.

WHAT IF WE NEVER ACTUALLY FINISHED DEVELOPING OUR UNDERSTANDING OF CONTROLLER AIMING?

What if the competitive community decided what a controller was capable of before we had even begun exploring its full potential?

What if gyro isn’t some gimmick for casual players?

What if it’s a legitimate competitive input method that we have barely begun to understand?

Kol isn’t proof that gyro is superior to every other input method.

HE’S PROOF THAT GYRO BELONGS IN THE COMPETITIVE CONVERSATION.

And that’s a conversation we should have been having a long time ago.

WHAT I’VE BEEN DOING SINCE YOU LAST SAW ME.

While people were dismissing the idea... I went to work.

I started systematically exploring Fortnite’s gyro implementation.

Not just copying somebody else’s settings.

Actually experimenting.

Sensitivity.

Acceleration.

Minimum and maximum thresholds.

Gyro offset.

Centering speed.

Stick dead zones.

Ramp times.

Camera movement.

ADS.

Editing.

The relationship between physical controller movement and what happens on the screen.

I began documenting everything.

That work eventually became The Gyro Files | The First Documentary Series for Gyro in History.

I built the Gyro Gang Wiki and Player’s Guide to explain these mechanics in ordinary language.

I started developing and documenting techniques for achieving faster, more precise camera movement with smaller physical movements.

And I began exploring a theoretical configuration space of approximately:

2.37 × 10¹¹⁴ POSSIBILITIES.

That’s a 115-digit number.

I’m not suggesting every configuration is practical or that every combination represents a useful discovery.

I’m suggesting something much simpler.

WE HAVEN’T EVEN SCRATCHED THE SURFACE.

And yet somehow, the conversation around controller input has barely changed.

More aim assist.

Less aim assist.

Nerf this.

Buff that.

Mouse and keyboard versus controller.

Over and over and over.

Meanwhile... we’re sitting on one of the most sophisticated gyro implementations ever created for a video game.

And where are the experimenters?

I’M NOT ASKING YOU TO BELIEVE ME.

This is the part I want everyone to understand.

I don’t need you to agree with my settings.

I don’t need you to like my channel.

I don’t need you to think I’m a good Fortnite player.

I’m not trying to sell you some magical sensitivity that will turn you into Peterbot overnight.

I’M ASKING YOU TO EXPERIMENT.

Change one variable.

Measure what happens.

Try something that nobody else is trying.

Find out whether your assumptions about controller aiming are actually correct.

And if you discover something?

DOCUMENT IT.

SHARE IT.

LET OTHER PEOPLE TEST IT.

That’s how progress happens.

Not by blindly following the same settings as everybody else.

Not by dismissing an input method because it isn’t popular.

And certainly not by ridiculing people who are willing to challenge conventional thinking.

HERE’S WHAT REALLY BOTHERS ME.

Jibb Smart helped create something extraordinary.

And I genuinely believe we’re in danger of allowing one of the greatest innovations in controller aiming to go largely unexplored.

Think about that.

What if the tools to fundamentally change how people play competitive Fortnite have been sitting in the settings menu this entire time?

And nobody bothered to investigate them because the competitive community had already decided what worked?

Wouldn’t that be ridiculous?

Wouldn’t it be even more ridiculous if the person trying to explain all of this to the world was some idiot garage door guy from Texas who just wouldn’t stop experimenting?

Because that’s where we are.

And despite all the ridicule, all the dismissal, and all the people who have told me this isn’t worth pursuing…

I’M STILL HERE.

SO HERE’S MY CHALLENGE TO FORTNITE COMPETITIVE.

A year ago many of you thought I was crazy for believing gyro deserved serious attention.

Today... KolGyro has three consecutive FNCS Grand Finals appearances.

I have spent the last year building a public record of experiments, discoveries, failures, and educational resources.

And I believe we’re only beginning to understand what this technology is capable of.

So let’s have an actual conversation.

Not about whether I’m a good player.

Not about whether you like my personality.

Not about whether gyro is currently more popular than traditional controller aiming.

ABOUT WHAT IS POSSIBLE.

How far can gyro go?

What happens when competitive players begin seriously experimenting with the mechanics instead of simply copying settings?

What could someone with Kol’s talent accomplish if we understood this system even better?

And most importantly…

HOW MANY MORE PLAYERS LIKE KOL ARE OUT THERE WHO HAVE NEVER EVEN BEEN GIVEN A REASON TO TRY?

You can laugh at me again.

You can downvote this into oblivion.

You can tell me gyro will never matter.

But you cannot erase what Kol has accomplished.

And you cannot discover the limits of something you refuse to explore.

I’m building Gyro Gang because I believe the next generation of competitive controller players deserves more than the same arguments we’ve been having for years.

My mission is simple.

NO GYRO PLAYER GETS LEFT BEHIND.

I was here a year ago asking you to consider the possibilities.

I’m back today asking you to look at the evidence.

And I intend to keep experimenting until we find out just how far this thing can go.

THE FUTURE OF GYRO IS IN OUR HANDS.

THAT’S THE POWER OF GYRO. 🤘😎

Discussion No discussion thread for FNCS Solos today?

Is Shxrk overrated? Just got murked in game 1. Ever since watching the last two Global LANs (him destroying Clix and Higgs offspawn a while back, and then the solo clutch in the tunnel in the last one) I’ve become a fan of the guy and I do believe he will win FNCS one day. But for him to be the favorite in such a competitive region I think is too much hype. Sky, Scroll, or Mali should be the favorites IMO

Discussion Ranked Cup Zero Build Doubts

Hi guys, I played a Ranked Cup Zero Build of DUOS and me and my friend before the torney were ranked bronze, then we played 10 games and finished 2nd place in Diamond, whatever that means.

Howcome, we only got unbrella and backling, while it says in there that bronze, silver, gold, platinum and unreal also get the skin? Makes so sense to me. Help me understand, thanks.

Discussion Should FNCS reload count towards total FNCS wins?

Lets say Pollo wins solo reload fncs. Are we then saying Pollo is a 5x FNCS champion now (assuming he doesn't win this solo fncs, in which case it would be 6) or would we not count the reload FNCS. Or should it be just a different category, like 4x Battle Royale FNCS winner, 1x Reload FNCS winner? Just curious what the general consensus is.

Rumor Why are ppl like n1tr0l allowed to cheat in tournaments?

If you don’t know who n1tr0l is he full cheats in tournaments. I think he won 12 of 12 games in a tournament not to long ago. There’s sooo many videos clips of him full tracking ppl through walls and mountains at a far distance where he could have no idea they are even there. I mean he’s clearly cheating it’s not even a question but the real question is why epic allows it in a tournament? Theres no way they don’t know when everyone else on the internet who watches him knows. Just wanna hear you opinions on why epic continues to let him full rage of legit skilled players who put a lot of time and effort into this game.

Curve & Xavi dominated this zero build reload cup by winning with a lead of 195 points. This is without many pros queuing up for this. All the pros will play zero build FNCS. It's going to be a whitewash. A 4v4 zero build token proves nothing

Discussion Subject: Setting Suggestion: "Confirm Simple Edit on Release"

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone and Epic Dev Team,

I have a quality-of-life suggestion for the "Simple Edit" feature that would completely fix its biggest competitive disadvantage: the lack of visual information when editing existing structures.

The Current Problem:
When you use traditional editing, holding the edit bind opens the grid and makes the wall, ramp, or cone translucent. This allows you to see right through the piece to track your opponent's movement before you release and confirm the edit.

Currently, Simple Edit doesn't let you do this. It edits the piece instantly on a tap. Because you can't hold to see through the structure, you are essentially editing "blind," making it incredibly easy to walk right into an enemy's crosshair or misalign your peek.

The Solution: "Confirm Simple Edit on Release" (Hold to See Through)

How it works mechanically on an existing build:

  1. Press & Hold Edit Bind: The game opens up the translucent, see-through editing grid of the full cone or ramp. This gives you the vital ability to see where the enemy is standing right through the structure.
  2. Release Edit Bind: The moment you let go of the button, the pre-set Simple Edit applies instantly.

Why this is a game-changer:
• Competitive Parity: It gives Simple Edit users the exact same "see-through tracking" advantage that traditional grid-editors have always had.
• Perfect Peek Timing: You can perfectly time your ramp or cone edits based on exactly when the opponent pulls out their shotgun or switches weapons.
• No Speed Penalty: It confirms instantly on release, maintaining the signature speed of the Simple Edit setting.

This small setting tweak would make Simple Edit fully viable for high-level box fighting and competitive play!

Opinion rant abt broadcast system in comp

can someone explain why we are still forced to watch the biggest tournaments through that shit broadcast system that still lags all the time doesnt capture mechanics shots look slugish af etc. i would literally be watching all fucking day if we could have the actual players pov like when streaming but we still have that shit replay mode whatever the fuck that is. I believe it would be a much more enjoyable viewing experience and there would be more viewers as well
