The CoinDCX hack recently and it got me thinking about how safe it really is to keep crypto on centralized exchanges.
I know most exchanges talk about cold storage and proof of reserves, but how much protection does that actually give users if something goes wrong?
Self-custody seems like the safer option, but honestly, managing private keys comes with its own risks too. do you keep most of your crypto in your own wallet and only leave trading funds on exchanges? What do you usually look for when deciding whether an exchange is trustworthy?

I currently have 42 GRAM that I earned on Telegram through my channel and transferred to my Trust Wallet. However, I am unable to withdraw them; every transfer I initiate has been stuck in a "pending" state since yesterday, and an "Uninit" badge appears.

Hey everyone, writing this out because I am completely hitting a brick wall with automated support channels and the compliance desk is just sending me boilerplate FAQ links while threatening to liquidate my balance. Here is the absolute mess of a timeline. Tell me if anyone else has dealt with this specific database/ledger sync error: • Late September: I initiated separate deposits of $10,000 and $9,000 from my checking account. • The Glitch: For some reason, the financial data network bundled these two distinct deposits into a single, duplicate $19,000 placeholder entry on the exchange ledger. • Early October: The exchange backend flagged this placeholder as an unpaid deficit. To clear it, they executed an internal recovery seizure and pulled $19,000.00 directly out of my crypto trading balance. This zeroed out the flag, and my account was unlocked. I figured we were square. • Mid-October: My bank finalized its actual fraud/dispute audit on those original late September charges. They verified the claims and officially reversed the physical $10k and $9k debits, crediting the $19k back to my checking account. • The Nightmare Now: The second those physical bank reversals hit, the exchange’s automated system panicked, locked my account again, and is treating the bank reversals as a brand-new, secondary unpaid debt. They are completely ignoring the fact that their internal crypto seizure already covered this exact dollar window. They are literally double-dipping, trying to penalize a single $19,000 transaction window as a $38,000 total deficit. I’ve already emailed my certified bank verification letters directly to the open support threads, but I just get automated junk back. I’ve escalated to federal regulators (CFPB) and I'm calling their hotline first thing in the morning to get a human agent to force a manual ledger override. Has anyone successfully forced an exchange to stop automated liquidation protocols when their backend ledger gets out of sync like this? How do you get past the bots to an actual human compliance auditor?

Hi - I have a EUR SEPA deposit on Kraken that has been stuck for about a week, and I've run out of working channels to get it resolved. Full details below; hoping someone here has seen this pattern or knows how to escalate it.
The sequence
What broke immediately after
Where it stands
Because the account name now matches the IBAN, SEPA won't automatically return the transfer to my bank - the only route back to me is Kraken crediting it. For about a week the €600 has been neither credited to my Kraken balance nor returned to my bank.
Support has been contradictory rather than helpful. Live chat says there is already an open ticket, that the case sits with the email team, that they will get back to me "as soon as possible" - and then closes the chat. The agent on the ticket asked me to confirm whether the failure is in the app or on the web and to send the exact error text or a screenshot. I sent both, and that thread has not produced a resolution.
What I'd like to know
I'm deliberately not posting any account identifiers, balances, IBAN or bank details here. I can provide my ticket number to the moderators via modmail if that would help anyone look into it.

I've been looking into ways to use USDT for everyday purchases without having to transfer funds to an exchange or cash out to a bank first. Are there any apps that let you pay directly from your own wallet at regular stores?
Any recommendations from people who've tried it?

I got a message saying 'Dear Customer, hold for INR 30,020.00 created in deposit Ac XXXXXXXXX on
24/10/26. If not consented, pl contact branch." and my account got freeze.
What does it mean? Most of my USDT are from Stake bonuses that I transfer to Metamask and send it to Binance tor p2p then to my bank account.
Whats the solution for this & how to avoid this?

September 28: I deposited $10,000 (FTXMlIJ…) and $9,000 (FTYPoFX…) from my Truist bank account. Your backend gateway (Plaid) bundled these into a single consolidated $19,000 placeholder code (FTZOEpV…).
October 5 (First Recovery): Kraken's automated system successfully seized $19,000 directly from my active trading balance to satisfy that aggregate flag. The debt was fully paid, my profile hit a $0 deficit, and your system unlocked my account and permitted me to trade.
October 20 (The Double-Dip): Your system suddenly placed a brand-new restriction on my profile, demanding another $19,000 to cover the individual $10k and $9k lines from that exact same window!
$10,000 + $9,000 equals exactly $19,000. You have already recovered this cash internally from my portfolio balance on October 5th. You cannot charge me twice for the same funding event. My Truist Fraud Supervisor has audited my statements and confirmed zero bank reversals exist.
My file is officially registered under CFPB Complaint ID:. I demand a human supervisor look at PublicDouble-Recovery Glitch Holding $38k Hostage /

Hello HTX Support and Community,
I am writing this post due to an endless automated response loop with HTX Customer Service regarding my account UID: 439663606.
Case Summary:
My account contains 395.2102 USDT.
I am fully KYC-verified and completed the mandatory dataAuth link as requested by support.
There are NO law enforcement freeze orders, court orders, or police reports associated with my account.
HTX Support is demanding Source of Funds (SoF) documentation for a deposit that occurred over 3 years ago.
It is technically impossible to retrieve counterparty trading records or platform screenshots from 3+ years ago.
My Request:
I am NOT asking to restore trading capabilities. I am requesting a standard ACCOUNT OFFBOARDING / EXIT WINDOW to withdraw my remaining 395.2102 USDT to my external wallet (TADzUEHLAkKyYSvRX4rGsRN5y8yubhHV7c) and permanently close my account.
Holding a fully verified user's funds indefinitely based on an unverified 3-year-old flag—without any court order—is an improper retention of user assets.
I ask the Senior Compliance / Risk Management team at HTX to intervene and authorize a one-time final withdrawal for UID 439663606.

I’m researching P2P platforms for selling crypto in the future and want to understand my options before I need them.
For those who do P2P regularly:

It’s great just looking for backup plans.
So far I’m looking at Paybis. Anybody have experience with them or any others they can recommend?

I heard that its basically impossible nowadays to make a bitcoin wallet truly anonymous,
BUT i dont intend on getting the bitcoin onto my bank account or cash them out,
i just want to be able to:
Get bitcoin from other wallets, transfer them to other wallets, and be able to hold them without them being traced to an adress, IP Adress, or name,
So basically a wallet intended for anonymous bitcoin trading without banking or cash involved

I’m looking for a personal EUR bank account for regular SEPA transfers, ideally with very low or zero transfer fees.
Initially, I’d expect around 4–5 incoming and 4–5 outgoing transfers per day, starting at €300 per transfer.
The amounts would gradually increase, potentially reaching €2,000 outgoing and €2,000 incoming per cycle. At 3–4 cycles daily, that would mean:
I was thinking using more than a bank account, but in this case which ones do you guys recommend? Especially with that volume of transactions.
Has anyone used an account for similar activity? Which banks would you recommend that would allow this on a personal account?

Last week, I placed an order on a guest posting website and decided to pay with crypto since the fees were lower. I had around $600 in my MetaMask wallet, so I swapped some coins and made the payment.
Out of nowhere, CoinGate canceled the transaction and asked me to complete KYC verification, which I did right away. But instead of refunding the payment, they seem to be holding onto the funds.
I contacted their support team, and they referred me to "Section 5.4 of the aforementioned disclaimer, as well as international Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF), and Sanctions Regulations."
The thing is, I'm not from a sanctioned country, and I can prove where the funds came from. I explained all of this to support, but they told me there was nothing they could do and that I'd have to challenge the decision through their complaints department.
Apparently, that department takes 15 to 35 business days to respond.
To be fair, their regular customer support replies pretty quickly. But I genuinely wasn't expecting something like this from a payment gateway. I paid for a service, the payment was canceled, and now I'm stuck trying to get my own money back.
I've provided everything I could think of, but I still have no idea whether they'll actually refund me. I understand that payment providers have compliance obligations, but I don't understand why getting a refund for a canceled transaction has to be this complicated.
It's especially frustrating because $600 isn't exactly pocket change for me, and having that money tied up is affecting my work.
I also checked their Reddit account, u/CoinGate, but it looks like they haven't been active for about eight months.
Has anyone here experienced something similar with CoinGate or another crypto payment processor? Did you eventually get your money back? If so, what worked?
At this point, the whole experience has left a really bad taste in my mouth. I definitely won't be using CoinGate again, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone based on how this has been handled.

Last week I had all my btc drained from my wallet (just under .38) I had every security feature enabled Face ID/pin requirements. My seed phrase is kept on paper in a fire proof safe and it has seen the light of day once which was about a year and a half ago on a brand new iPhone when I put trust wallet on it. Its not even possible for me to leak my seed phrase that piece of paper is the only thing in the world that has it, there’s no picture no notes app there is absolutely nothing(which is why I purchased a fire proof safe in the first place) I haven’t downloaded any unknown apps, no one has attempted to airdrop anything to me, no suspicious links in any emails, and I was not connected to dApp or anything like that. It’s not like I’m a day trader I only had maybe a handful of transactions with it per year, I actually didn’t realize it was drained till days after because I barely use it. I work for a tech company and undergo regular cyber security training I know all of the scams.
I have opened a case with my local police(and IC3) and am “working” with trust wallet support team but they don’t seem very interested in getting to the bottom of this, it takes them about 24 hours between replies. Hopefully this will help 1 person so it will be worth it please don’t let this happen to you get all your crypto off trust wallet as fast as you can.
The way I see it there are 2 scenarios:
Best case scenario it’s possible to hack into trust wallet.
Worst case scenario trust wallet is working with people to get into your wallet

I transferred 2,000 USDT to my Trust Wallet and attempted to swap exactly 1,000 USDT to BTC. I did not use “Max.”
Trust Wallet charged approximately 3.39 USDT for Energy Rental and then displayed an “insufficient funds” error, even though more than 2,000 USDT remained available.
During that failed attempt, no 1,000 USDT transaction was created and no BTC was received. The failed attempt does not appear anywhere in the app. A separate second attempt later succeeded after another Energy Rental charge.
Support is asking for a screenshot from “Swap History,” but I cannot find such a section in the Android app, and the failed attempt was never recorded.
Has anyone experienced this? Why is Energy Rental charged before the app confirms that the swap can proceed, and can the fee for the failed attempt be refunded?
