FO [FO] Finally finished the back-to-back Pokemon card

Finished my fully cross stitched Pokemon card for my sister's birthday gift since she loves collecting Mareep cards. Now I'm just hoping it fits in her binder along with the other Mareep cards 😄

Thank you to everyone who helped me from my previous post here when I asked which thread color to use for the borders --- I didn't even know using both yellow and blue was possible! You guys opened my mind, and now I'm thinking up other project ideas using the fishing line! Perhaps another card with Gengar, but a full art card this time? 🤗

I used a 0.25 mm transparent nylon thread to sew both sides together. And I also used a 14 CT plastic aida/mesh sheet so it's firm like a Pokemon card.

I'm so happy with it! It looks so cute, and I'm very proud of it ☺️

Pattern: I created the back and front sides myself hehe except for the cute tiny mareep, i referred to a pattern i found on pinterest.

Finished this just in time for Halloween. Many firsts for this piece (2x2 on linen, 1x1 for skin, beading) and had a lot of fun! Now I just have to wash and iron...project for another time!

I've managed to take some REMARKABLY bad pictures, but she's already rewrapped for the holidays. 😮‍💨

But! I am exceptionally pleased with how this came out!! It looks absolutely wonderful in person, so classy, and I think the black frame will suit the recipients' home very well.

Pattern is the Dimensions kit "Winter Scenic Farm" 🤗

Got the recent Tiny Modernist stitch-along back from the framers, just in time for Halloween! (I covered my initials for privacy in the first photo.) This was my first completed SAL, and I absolutely loved this pattern, the process of completing it box by box, and the sweet Facebook community of fellow stitchers.

This was my first big project with a lot of backstitching. I was worried it would be tedious but it went surprisingly fast!

While working on it I came across matching gingham curtains at the thrift store and knew I had to frame it with the fabric. Frame is also thrifted. This will live in our kitchen.

It was really fun to stitch it and I like the end result a lot. But now I realized that I forgot to stitch one color.

CHAT [CHAT] How Can I Stitch Faster/Learn Parking?

Post image
91 Upvotes

I have been cross stitching for 17 years, but didn’t discover this subreddit until a couple of years ago and aside from some YouTube videos and trial and error, taught myself everything.

Thanks to this sub I’ve learned gridding which sped my pace a lot and reduced errors, but I can’t help but feel that stitching by row by color isn’t the best way. I did notice on here a lot of people have multiple different colored flosses going at once and that it’s called “parking” but I haven’t learned this myself. Is there a video or easy way to explain it? I just worry with a WIP with so many colors I would get confused or everything would get tangled. Is there also something else I can do to speed it up aside from gridding?

Also if anyone has advice on doing a French knot I’d really appreciate it. Saw a YouTube video on it and I still can’t get it right!

I’ve recently become frustrated at having to replace my cardboard bobbins once I’ve had to refill them a couple of times. So I’ve decided to bite the bullet and work on converting my collection from cardboard to transparent plastic bobbins and with these cute coloured stickers for the numbers. I feel like they already look cleaner with the box.

I’m about halfway done swapping my current colours over since I don’t have the largest collection yet. Plus it helps me tell the difference between my colours and the odd colour I’ve borrowed from my mother in law.

One of my favorite digimon. I found the sprite and used updated colors to put together the pattern. I really enjoyed how it came out. Made it to give to one of my partners who is feeling under the weather.

No AI was used at any stage of the process. Original design was made in Asperite by my girlfriend, we converted it into a pattern using Floss Cross and then I did all the stitching.

The bugs are: Atlas moth, Death's-head hawkmoth, Orchid mantis, Periodical cicada, Ladybug, Honey bee, Firefly and a Scarab

CHAT [CHAT] How to improve this pattern

I saw someone make a tiktok where they knitted a piece with the same lyrics and was inspired to make a cross stitch similar to it. I finished drafting the letters but it honestly just looks off. My friends have told me it looks fine but I was hoping to get critiques and opinions from those who have more experience.

I was planning to put the earth in the middle similar to how she does in the music video but I'm worried that it would either look overbalanced if the planet is too small or the piece would be too big if I increased the size since I'm also planning on putting a border maybe. My second option is to put all the text on the left and put the earth on the right side but it might be too awkward.

I also based the colors off the lesbian flag but please let me know if it looks overkill, I'm not a fan of the varigated thread looks so my other option is just to make the letters a solid color if the color looks off to you guys.

I made the background black so that the B5200 floss colors can be seen through since theres only a limited option color available in my country.

Thank you!

CHAT [CHAT] Need help with this stand

Hello!

I’ve picked up cross stitching back after a few years and have ambitiously started a new project - the biggest I’ve ever done with 42k stitches

I used to use hoops, but I’m not a fan of them. Was using a Q-snap so far which was great but looking for a hands free option

I came across this hands free stand thing on Amazon and since it was within my budget (£15-20, UK based), I ordered it

I just can’t get the cloth to form a decent amount of tension! I guess it won’t be the same as hoops or qsnaps as there isn’t anything to pull the sides of the cloth but I thought I’d check if I was missing something

Any advice or recommendations are appreciated! It’s a gift so I’m trying to finish it in a few months, so speed is of the essence.

Thank you so much!

I've been making a cross stitch for my partner's car and, I'm not sure how, but it broke??? Can I just stitch over it and pray it'll keep it together? Has anyone else dealt with this before?
