[CHAT] How to improve this pattern

I saw someone make a tiktok where they knitted a piece with the same lyrics and was inspired to make a cross stitch similar to it. I finished drafting the letters but it honestly just looks off. My friends have told me it looks fine but I was hoping to get critiques and opinions from those who have more experience.

I was planning to put the earth in the middle similar to how she does in the music video but I'm worried that it would either look overbalanced if the planet is too small or the piece would be too big if I increased the size since I'm also planning on putting a border maybe. My second option is to put all the text on the left and put the earth on the right side but it might be too awkward.

I also based the colors off the lesbian flag but please let me know if it looks overkill, I'm not a fan of the varigated thread looks so my other option is just to make the letters a solid color if the color looks off to you guys.

I made the background black so that the B5200 floss colors can be seen through since theres only a limited option color available in my country.

All the extra little circles make it difficult to read. And the color choice against that background is also a little difficult to read, though IRL it may not be the case. But are you really stitching on plaid fabric? It seems very distracting.

It's just the "gridlines" of whatever design program they used, not plaid

Ah i guess i'd have to change the font for the big letters I just saw the font on DMC and really liked it. Also the fabric will be plain black aida that's just how its shown on flosscross

Ok, plain black will be much more legible. I don't think you have to change font altogether, just delete the pink circles. It's a nice font otherwise.

I think the flowers (is that what they are?) around the letters makes it all blur together - the colours of the lesbian flag are all pretty similar so it kind of muddies it up. I also, personally, don't love every word being capitalized. It just looks awkward. I'd either go all caps or all lower case.

I don't think earth would look great with these colours, blues and greens would take the eye away from the text. But if you did want to add an earth, maybe make it in pinks and oranges as well? If you get the shapes right and made it obviously earth that could be fun.

It's a great start, I love the idea of using those colours with these lyrics.

Thank you i think i'll try the all lower case ones to avoid this piece being too big (also yes they are flowers i really liked the font so i forced myself to think it looks great with the changed colors but i'll just use them for another project).

For the colors of the font do you think i should change them? Make them 3 colors instead of 5? I like the idea of the earth also being lesbian colors i was actually planning on making it that originally but was also worried about it being "too lesbian" haha

Check out Lord Libidan free fonts if you haven't yet. Might find something you like.

I think 3 colours would give the same effect, but all 5 looks really good if you can find a font that it works with!

And listen, if you're going to make something lesbian, there's no such thing as TOO lesbian. Commit to gay!

What if you tried either putting the text into two rows or creating a square border with the text for the earth to sit the in middle of? Both of those options would create a more square shape so there’d be less dead space around the sides of the earth in the centre.

Also I love Chappell Roan and think this is a really iconic concept for a cross stitch!
