FO [FO] Finally finished the back-to-back Pokemon card

Finished my fully cross stitched Pokemon card for my sister's birthday gift since she loves collecting Mareep cards. Now I'm just hoping it fits in her binder along with the other Mareep cards 😄

Thank you to everyone who helped me from my previous post here when I asked which thread color to use for the borders --- I didn't even know using both yellow and blue was possible! You guys opened my mind, and now I'm thinking up other project ideas using the fishing line! Perhaps another card with Gengar, but a full art card this time? 🤗

I used a 0.25 mm transparent nylon thread to sew both sides together. And I also used a 14 CT plastic aida/mesh sheet so it's firm like a Pokemon card.

I'm so happy with it! It looks so cute, and I'm very proud of it ☺️

Pattern: I created the back and front sides myself hehe except for the cute tiny mareep, i referred to a pattern i found on pinterest.

Finished this just in time for Halloween. Many firsts for this piece (2x2 on linen, 1x1 for skin, beading) and had a lot of fun! Now I just have to wash and iron...project for another time!

I've managed to take some REMARKABLY bad pictures, but she's already rewrapped for the holidays. 😮‍💨

But! I am exceptionally pleased with how this came out!! It looks absolutely wonderful in person, so classy, and I think the black frame will suit the recipients' home very well.

Pattern is the Dimensions kit "Winter Scenic Farm" 🤗

One of my favorite digimon. I found the sprite and used updated colors to put together the pattern. I really enjoyed how it came out. Made it to give to one of my partners who is feeling under the weather.

Pattern source: Self-drafted with my sketchbook and markers.

My engineer husband helped me design a frame you can stitch on. I had so much fun, I asked him for help designing another item, and another, and well now I’m sharing everything we come up with and loving every second of it! Once you try stitching on this medium, you’ll want to do 100 more. Please don’t tell my grandma, but I haven’t missed my fabric and hoop at all.

We have products, kits, or if you have a 3D printer we have the STL print files so you can diy. The Nintendo Switch charging dock is our newest item. I’ve made patterns for Zelda, Animal Crossing, an NES controller, and Deltarune. I’m almost done with a Stardew Valley and Mario pattern. Our top item is probably the card deck boxes or pill boxes. Both are now available as kits. I’ve made patterns for Uno, Phase 10, Flip 7, Five Crowns, Skip-Bo, dice, face cards, and Bicycle face cards.

More than anything, I love seeing everyone’s own creativity using our products. It brings me so much joy to know other people out there like what I like. The cross stitched community is rad!

*Carly J. Stitchables does not use AI in any part of their creation process, or ever.

I’ve recently become frustrated at having to replace my cardboard bobbins once I’ve had to refill them a couple of times. So I’ve decided to bite the bullet and work on converting my collection from cardboard to transparent plastic bobbins and with these cute coloured stickers for the numbers. I feel like they already look cleaner with the box.

I’m about halfway done swapping my current colours over since I don’t have the largest collection yet. Plus it helps me tell the difference between my colours and the odd colour I’ve borrowed from my mother in law.

A few months ago I shared my first pattern, the Mangrove Ecosystem, here and got so much support!

Your comments inspired me to make this “companion” piece, Florida’s Predators, to give a little love to our unique land creatures as well!

Both patterns can be found on my Etsy shop here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/BrookehavenDesigns?etsrc=z

CHAT [CHAT] How to improve this pattern

I saw someone make a tiktok where they knitted a piece with the same lyrics and was inspired to make a cross stitch similar to it. I finished drafting the letters but it honestly just looks off. My friends have told me it looks fine but I was hoping to get critiques and opinions from those who have more experience.

I was planning to put the earth in the middle similar to how she does in the music video but I'm worried that it would either look overbalanced if the planet is too small or the piece would be too big if I increased the size since I'm also planning on putting a border maybe. My second option is to put all the text on the left and put the earth on the right side but it might be too awkward.

I also based the colors off the lesbian flag but please let me know if it looks overkill, I'm not a fan of the varigated thread looks so my other option is just to make the letters a solid color if the color looks off to you guys.

I made the background black so that the B5200 floss colors can be seen through since theres only a limited option color available in my country.

Thank you!

CHAT [CHAT] How Can I Stitch Faster/Learn Parking?

Post image
81 Upvotes

I have been cross stitching for 17 years, but didn’t discover this subreddit until a couple of years ago and aside from some YouTube videos and trial and error, taught myself everything.

Thanks to this sub I’ve learned gridding which sped my pace a lot and reduced errors, but I can’t help but feel that stitching by row by color isn’t the best way. I did notice on here a lot of people have multiple different colored flosses going at once and that it’s called “parking” but I haven’t learned this myself. Is there a video or easy way to explain it? I just worry with a WIP with so many colors I would get confused or everything would get tangled. Is there also something else I can do to speed it up aside from gridding?

Also if anyone has advice on doing a French knot I’d really appreciate it. Saw a YouTube video on it and I still can’t get it right!

Hey everyone :)

I’ve gotten back into cross stitch in the last year or so after doing it a lot as a kid. I’m feeling so inspired and learning heaps from this sub! I made this for my friend based off one of their drawings; they have an amazing art page on Instagram called Simpsons Smut. This is my first time self drafting a pattern, I used Pixel Stitch to convert a picture of their art and the text is the Oxford font from Stitchpoint.

Also wanted to say hi to any other queer & trans cross stitchers in here, would love to see your stuff!

CHAT [CHAT] Fist big project advice

• Upvotes

So I'm finally ready to start my forever project. Just looking for some tips and hints. I have done quite a few smaller pieces before, but this will be my first large full coverage piece. Its the Rivendell one, here is a FO that was the inspiration https://www.reddit.com/r/CrossStitch/comments/1unym6z/fo_after_almost_a_whole_year_my_biggest_project/

  • What did you learn the first couple times that you did it that you think someone else should know?
  • I'm also trying to decide between getting the Q-snap vs some sort of scroll?
  • Do people buy all of the skeins of thread that they need at the start, or can I just buy a couple and then buy later? My biggest concern is that they change the dye. I know between lots it's not too bad, but I am concerned that they might change the dye before I finish. I was just thinking that maybe I could try and match in the future if needed. (stitches 265*400. DMC. 45 colors)
  • What count of Aida fabric do people usually use? For most of my pieces I've only used 14 count with 2 strands, but not sure if there is a recommendation in the pattern yet. But I think it might be nicer and fuller with an 18 count?
