Discussion I hate dwemer dungeons and quests
They are way too long and too big for no reason. Not to mention the enemies are super annoying as well

Anyone know what the heck happened? I will not complain about an easy dragon fight, but I am so confused.
This quest was so much better than I thought it would be. Little bit of exploration, two different sides of the story from two NPC’s. This quest makes you choose to return the star to either Aranea or Nelacar which I thought was different but really cool. I went with Nelacar personally. I believed him more and it’s nice to have another salesman to sell stuff to. At the end the Malyn Varen fight turned out to be harder than I had anticipated but I have really enjoyed it. What are your thoughts on this quest? Who did you return the star to and how did you cope with that Malyn fight?

I started playing this game for the first time a few weeks ago and I really can’t get enough of it. Glad I found this sub, as well!

When I first climbed up to High Hrothgar, I literally went straight up the mountain from Whiterun. I did not follow any twists and turns, and I just scrambled straight up the rocks. At that time, I had already seen those funny memes about horses climbing on any surface, and I just figured that my crazy mountain climbing was the exact reason those memes existed. At a certain point during the climb, I hit a spot where I literally could not go any higher. So, I just walked around the peak and immediately slipped right through the gates. Because of that, I completely missed the famous troll that you are actually supposed to encounter right before entering the area.
After that whole mess, because the mountain was just so insanely difficult to climb, I completely skipped it every single time on all my later playthroughs. Plus, I never really used the shouts anyway, because even to this day, I feel like they are pretty underwhelming. So, you can imagine my massive surprise when I was watching a video of a Skyrim 4k graphics overhaul mod and saw the player character actually walking up the thousand steps. That was the exact moment I finally learned that there is an actual, normal path carved into the dang mountain all along.

This is my first time playing Skyrim and I feel like it takes me forever to level everything up except my one handed and heavy armor

I never understood why people hate this questline so much, and after finishing it again the other day, I find it even more baffling.
First off, it has some of the best rewards of any questline, right up there with the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Besides getting the admittedly underwhelming Staff of Magnus, the Morokei mask, you also get Savos Aren’s amulet and the Archmage Robes, with a triple unique enchantment (and is also swaggy).
The questline also takes you to some cool locations, like the Dwemer ruins I can’t remember the name of with the oculory and Labyrinthian. Labyrinthian is an awesome dungeon. The skeletal dragon that crawls out in the first room is a badass visual, but I can admit it is way too weak of an enemy. Morokei using the Thu’um to talk to you, first in the Dragon language and then Tamrielic, is sick and a great way to build suspense for your confrontation with him. That part of the quest also gives Savos more background which I liked. The Eye of Magnus is also really cool, it has an undeniable aura of mystery and the way it continually hums and rotates gives it the appearance of something truly alien.
Another common complaint I’ve seen is the lack of developed characters. I don’t entirely disagree with this, but it’s unfair to single out the College for this when that applies to almost everyone in the game. The standard for being a fleshed out character in Skyrim is having a single prominent and distinct superficial personality trait.
Finally, people complain about becoming Archmage at the end like it’s completely unearned. Sure, it should have you do a couple radiant quests like the Thieves Guild but let’s think through everything you did up to that point in that quest:
1) Investigate a dangerous Nord ruin and discover the Eye of Magnus
2) Get personally contacted by the Psijic Order because of your magical potential
3) Solve a Dwemer puzzle and gain the location of the Staff of Magnus
4) Defeat a Dragon Priest to recover the Staff
5) Save the College, and the entire world from destruction
With all of that in mind, it isn’t outrageous to have archmage on the table for an institution that is previously established to have been struggling. If you complete the questline without actually casting any magic, that’s entirely on you, you control the buttons you press. If you had to complete the questline mainly with magic people would complain about that too, saying Skyrim is about player freedom.

The quest line for the companions is quite controversial as they are known to be Warriors and honorable, but most of them always say they only do it for the money and the glory.. and for the werewolf aspect by the end, only one is a werewolf.. aela..

Honestly, I wanted to marry a Khajiit because of how they're treated and was super bummed out that there are none available to marry. I settled for Scout, and he is the sweetest little guy lol. I moved him to Solitude with my 2 adopted children, and he actually hangs out around them most of the time. Who are y'alls go to characters to marry and why?

I’m on my second ever playthrough, and I’d like to join the imperials this time. Joining the stormcloaks was easy the first time, because the game started with imps about to execute me, so my head canon was that my character hated imps.
This time I’d like to fight the stormcloaks, but I’m wondering if there’s an in game interaction available the would serve as the sort of main motivation for my character hating stormcloaks. A brutal murder, bad stormcloaks, something, idk.
Thanks.

I am running Skyrim LE at some pretty remarkable frames (60-120fps usually floating around 90) on a Samsung S25.
A phone.
I just want this to sink in, do you know how crazy that is? I've been playing this game since 2012, just a year after it came out. Every single time it has been on a big ass console, or PC. The Switch is the exception, I guess, but also I couldn't mod that so I hardly played it lol. I guess you got the steam deck... but who the hell needs a steam deck when you GOT FLAGSHIP ANDROID BROTHER, why pay hundreds when you can, alternatively, pay hundreds (differently). Quality investment
Granted, I'm not the first person to do this. Someone else had Skyrim running on their android just a few months ago. And seeing that made me determined to do the same.
And holy shit.
I never thought it would take as long as it has taken to actually get a stable set up. Deadass took months.
It doesn't have to take months, if you know what you're doing.
I, did not, as a matter of fact, know what I was doing. I'm tech literate to the extent that I know how to install and update native drivers on my own, not at all tech literate to deduce which non-native drivers are better for my architecture, I barely even understand what architecture means for a device.
So, yea. Took my dumbass months.
Now, full clarity. It's Skyrim. Modded Skyrim. It's prone to the same finicky performance you can get on your $3000 powerbox PC, sometimes the framerate just farts for a moment, sometimes it shits, you run into bugs, it freezes, it crashes, etc. It's oldrim on steroids, what do you expect? Me to take the Bethesda out of it? I got it running on my phone, not flying.
But seriously though, 120fps with probably 6-8gb of mods installed is so much better than I ever expected to get out of a PHONE man, its straight up bonkers.
Anyway, here's my build. These might or might not even work for you, since Winlator seems pretty device specific, at least given the troubles I faced.
Emulator:
Winlator CMOD (Version 7.1.4x) - the specific version might not matter, I just cant afford to update it cause I have Skyrim in my C drive and when that container gets deleted, whelp, bye bye Skyrim
Box64 Version:
0.3.7
On Performance mode
Graphics Driver:
Turnip Gen8 V34
DX Wrapper:
DXVK- 2.6-2-gplasync-1
Async turned ON
These by themselves should get Skyrim to run, at least. But there were more problems I faced regardless... and its been so long I can't recall everything I added to get stuff to work better.
There were audio problems, had to set a pulse audio latency and install an audio library inside the container. Speaking of libraries, there were like 3 or 4 things I had to install in Wine Configuration in the actual app (start, Wine Configuration, Libraries tab) and I can't remember any of them.
There were also environmental variables I had to set in my containers settings, but I don't know what I changed and whats default.
So, if you want to set it up yourself you're gonna have to get comfortable doing a little trial and error conjoined with internet sleuthing just like I did... or just be smarter than I am just like flattly, you can save yourself tons of time with that one simple trick
Anyway, I have 80 mods installed, as the title points out. I know that nobody asked, cause like, you're not gonna install my mod pack. Nobody really does that. But, some of these mods are actually huge and I wanted the pack to just speak on behalf of the capabilities that Winlator has with a flagship device. And, also, hyper-linking 80 mods took me like 2 hours so screw you, here's an Android friendly modpack.
Oh shit, really quick, I should mention you have to install mods manually. Mod managers don't work in Winlator cause their virtual file system breaks on an emulated version of Windows. So, Nexus and MO2 weren't useful for me. Just keep that in mind if you end up wading through the muck that is Skyrim on Android like I did
SKSE - You can get an installer so you don't need steam installed. Or install steam, idk. I didn't. I wanted as few background processes as possible

which armor set do you think is the lest in regards to the aesthetics of the game ignoring all the stat benefits the armor gives the player since any armor can be made into the best armor of the game using enchantments
