r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

UPDATE — August 13, 2026

rgl.deals has grown a bit since I originally posted, so I wanted to give this post a update while it's still in BETA.

The idea is still simple: instead of showing you hundreds of gaming laptops, RGL keeps a smaller shortlist of deals that are actually worth considering.

Every listing is manually checked, with things like price, specs, cooling, display quality, GPU power limits, memory, storage, and overall value taken into account.

A lot of care has also gone into the smaller details. The site is heavily optimized for phones and smaller screens, not just desktop. Filters, comparisons, laptop pages, navigation, and general usability were all designed to work properly on mobile without feeling like a cut-down version of the site.

What's on the site now:

  • Curated gaming laptop deals with current and previous prices.
  • Filters for price, GPU, CPU, VRAM, RAM, screen size, brand, retailer, and more.
  • Gravity Sort, RGL's default value-based ranking.
  • Sorting by price, discount, savings, and other options.
  • Find a Match for narrowing down laptops based on what actually matters to you.
  • Side-by-side comparison for up to three laptops.
  • Detailed laptop pages with specs, price history, related models, retailer links, and review links.
  • Shareable searches, comparisons, and direct laptop links.
  • Mobile-first layouts and controls designed specifically for smaller screens.
  • No advertising trackers or marketing cookies. Preferences and saved comparisons stay in your browser.

RGL is meant to be a shortlist, not a giant catalog. If a laptop isn't worth recommending, it doesn't need to be there and that means no huge lists its quality over quantity.

The longer-term plan is also bigger than just deals. RGL is being built into a broader gaming laptop specific place with guides, buying information, laptop data, reviews, and other useful resources all in one place.

Full transparency: Some retailer links are affiliate links. That doesn't affect the listed price or determine which laptops make the shortlist.

RGL currently covers U.S. deals only, with more regions planned later.

It's still beta, so there will be bugs and things that need improving. If you find something broken or have feedback, leave it below any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.

Showcase I think this was a steal for $700

For $700 I got this ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 2021 with a Ryzen 9 5900HS, 8GB soldered DDR4-, upgraded with a 16GB stick of DDR4 to make 24GB total (planning on buying a 32GB stick soon), an RTX 3070, and 2TB of NVMe storage. Very good condition, LCD bezel needs replacing, battery getting replaced as well. Parts for this laptop aren’t as expensive as I thought they would be.

Discussion Lenovo Legion comparison

For context I am looking at financing to purchase either of these, the 7 pro has a lower upfront cost I can afford right now. The 9i has a much higher upfront cost and it will take me a month to save for it.

What I want to know is what are the big differences between the models and 5080 vs 5090 in these specific models.

Something I notice is the 7 has DDR5 listed as the ram whereas the 9i doesn’t have that label anywhere on the page, is it safe to assume it is?

I couldn’t find a 32gb version of the 7 pro that was on this financing deal otherwise the price difference would’ve made me pull the trigger - but the 9i is about £1000 more.

Any owners who have issues with either would be a blessing to hear from. Sorry if it seems like a stupid question I am new to the heavy duty laptop space.

Discussion Anyone who still chose a laptop even if you don't move it around much?

I've got my Legion pro 7i and for those 2 years since I bought it and I pretty much use it plugged in like a desktop replacement. I always wonder what if I got a desktop instead. People always say it's a waste of money because desktops tend to beat laptops with the same configs. But for me the space saving factor is big. I also like that laptops produce less heat in my bedroom in the summer. In case i want to move mine out of my room it'd be much easier (though it hasnt happened much). I could be wrong but in 2026 I can't seem to find a desktop that's much cheaper than a laptop with the same configs.

Recommendation Overkill or sensible long term?

• Upvotes

Budget: <2500usd Country: Australia Use Case: Mixed Preferred Specs: Varied Notes: Considering a Legion Pro 5i Gen 10, primarily for trading, but mulling over JUST how excessive the specs are and whether they're justified as a longer term, future proof purchase. So its a 2 part discussion - trading requirements plus future proof evaluation.

Specs: Intel Ultra 9 290HX, RTX 5070 12GB, 32GB DDR5 RAM (2x16), 1TB SSD for just under ~$2,100usd

I'll be running the usual set of software/programs - broker platform, multiple charts of multiple timeframes across multiple external monitors, scanners, and other applications simultaneously.

Yes, I realise these specs are probably BEYOND my immediate needs, but I'm looking for something that will comfortably last several years with plenty of headroom. My thinking is that buying something merely sufficient today could be a false economy if I outgrow it and need to replace it sooner. I'd rather invest in a capable machine upfront than potentially spend a similar amount buying twice.

That said, I don't want to spend unnecessarily on performance I'll never use even with the headroom. Something thats immediate off the top of my head is the dedicated gpu always taking some power. Definitely am overlooking more things.

Is this genuinely overkill, or does spending more upfront make sense for longevity? What would you consider a sensible middle ground?

does a prebuilt desktop seem more practical then with this price range?

I'll ask this question to the guys on the trading subreddit but wanted to ask this here too.

Thank guys

Recommendation Cheap-ish Second hand laptop advice for germany?

• Upvotes

Budget: 600€ (second hand)
Country: Germany
Uses: Gaming and digital art , possibly 3D modelling
Preferred specs: 16"+ and 144hz would be awesome and without overheating issues?
Notes: yeah i know i'm asking for a lot. but it doesn't need to be the most fancy high end shit with 400TB of RAM and RTX 9472 Moonwalk edition or whatnot lmao. the most graphic intense shit i play is WoW and maybe some Assasin's Creed n stuff.

Discussion 240h w/ 5080vs 275hx w/ 5070ti

From what I see it’s a 20% single core performance bump.

Although I’m not sure which one will make up for the other in this case. I know unoptimized games will eat gpu and esports will favor the cpu.

if both are with 200 dollars of each other, what’s the best bet?

It does seem like at 2k the difference dwindles by a great degree vs 1080p

Recommendation Looking for a laptop good for school and gaming

• Upvotes

Budget: 1000 USD
Country: Colombia
Use Case: Gaming and School
Preferred Specs: 14” inch, mostly no idea but open to anything that fits good on a backpack
Notes: Zero experience on PC gaming before

Hey! So, as the title says, I'm looking for a laptop that's good for both uni work and gaming. I've never had a laptop before and since I moved to study abroad I don't have a desktoo so I thought it would be nice to tackle both my student requirements and gaming pleasure at the same time. Regarding uni, I mostly needed for apps like word, canva and for presentations, I'm studying a social science so I don't need something heavy on specs, and I highly doubt I will fill the space with just papers, books and such.
I prefer something small, like 14 inch or something that can fit well in my backpack. A good battery would be good but not a must, I'm okay if it gives me just a couple hours of life in case I can't use it plugged. My budget is around 1000 USD.
I'm thinking on playing mostly indie games like Disco Elysium, Dispatch, The Precinct; also games like XCOM EW, Minecraft, Civ., Football Manager; and while I would like to have the chance to play something like Baldur's Gate 3, the new Spider-Man games or the Persona saga, 1 get that those are more demanding games and might increase the cost of the laptop so is not a must.
Now, th, I have no idea about PC gaming at all since I've been a console gamer for my whole life so honestly any advice or suggestions you could give me would be great. I just got my eyes set on a Acer Nitro Core i5 CI5 13420H 16GB RAM SSD 512GB RTX 3050 6GB
15.6 (I just copied and pasted the full name because I have no idea which details are relevant) that due to a discount is right on my budget so I would like to know if this is something good or if you have any other suggestions.
I would love to read your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks for reading me too. Take care :D

This has to be a scam-the retail price is easily £2.5k to £3k. I was looking to upgrade my laptop and stumbled upon this, but it's way too cheap, so there's definitely a catch. The seller has terrible reviews, and the description even says "32GB DDR5 Memory | PCIE Solid State Drive (Boot SSD), Original Factory Box will be opened and resealed for Upgrade."What's the deal with that? Am I right in thinking this is a total scam, or is it actually the deal of a lifetime?🫪

Discussion Running local LLMs alongside games on a gaming laptop. How much VRAM actually matters?

I do software dev during the day and game at night on the same machine. Lately I've been running local LLMs for coding help, and they chew through VRAM fast. My current laptop has an RTX 4070 with 8GB VRAM. Games run fine, but loading even a 7B model while keeping a game paused in the background usually triggers out of memory errors.
