Question? I met a pansexual guy who says his attraction is “seasonal”—is that a real thing, or is he seeing someone else?
I’m a straight woman and I met a guy who identifies as pansexual. We’ve admitted to each other that we like each other, but we’ve never made things official.
The confusing part is that he sends me mixed signals. Sometimes, I feel like he genuinely likes me, but other times, he becomes distant and avoidant. It’s been difficult trying to understand where I stand with him.
At one point, he mentioned that his attraction changes and that it’s almost seasonal. I’m wondering if this is something that can genuinely happen or if it’s his way of explaining why his interest in me seems to come and go.
I also can’t help wondering whether he might be seeing someone else, although I have no actual proof of that.
What makes this situation harder is that it’s starting to affect my self-esteem. I find myself questioning whether I’m attractive enough or if there’s something missing in me that makes him hesitant to pursue a relationship with me. I know I shouldn’t measure my worth based on someone else’s feelings, but it’s difficult not to overthink when someone tells you they like you but their actions make you feel otherwise.
I understand that being pansexual is about who someone can be attracted to, regardless of gender, and I’m not trying to question his sexuality. I’m just trying to understand whether changes in attraction can work this way, or whether this is more about his feelings toward me specifically.
**I just have some points to ask to the community:**
- Can your attraction genuinely fluctuate in cycles or seasons?
- Can you like someone but still become avoidant or lose interest for periods of time?
- When someone says they like you but also says they’re not ready for a relationship, how should you interpret that?
4.How do you tell the difference between someone whose attraction naturally fluctuates and someone who is simply not that interested or is keeping their options open?
I like him, and I want to be understanding of his feelings and where he is in life. But the uncertainty is starting to affect how I see myself, and I don't want to keep questioning my own worth over something I can't seem to understand.
I'd appreciate honest perspectives, especially from people who have experienced something similar.
