I am not convinced that there can be an actual increase of 3000. I say 800, but that's all there will be

THDG Need Help Would anyone working in Public Health be willing to help me out?

Hi All, I've been looking for work in public health (epidemiology, clinical research, environmental health, data management/analysis, research coordination, etc.) for most of the past year without much luck. I have 10yrs of experience working in the public health sector, but the vast majority of my career has been overseas. I don't know anyone that works in public health here in Aus, and I’ve found it a bit difficult to get a good sense of the overall sector, what employers are looking for, and how best to position my previous experience.

As a result, I was wondering if there’s anyone working in public health who might be open to briefly chatting about their experiences working in the field and answer a few questions?

I promise that I’m not looking for a job referral or anything like that. My goal is simply to get a better understanding of the public health sector in Australia and hopefully gain some insight into how to better navigate the field, so I can approach my job search more strategically.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions or are willing to help. I'd genuinely appreciate your perspectives and insights. Thanks!

THDG Need Help Hairdresser recommendations for childs long hair undercut?

My primary-school aged daughter has her heart set on getting an undercut haircut to look "punk" - so I'm looking for recommendations for a salon/hairdresser who can do them well. Doesn't have to be a kid's salon. We're based in the South-East but happy to travel.

Politics Im 18 who do I vote for?

All I know about politics is that theres a lot of potholes people complain about and how Labour has wasted a lot of money in the past years. I have been too busy worrying about my exams to think much about politics.

I hear lots of people complain about Labour, so how did they win the previous election? I also hear people complain about Liberals but I haven't looked into it. And the other party is out of the equation

If they're all bad then what choice do we have left? I know there are like smaller niche parties but like I think people tend to be bullied for supporting the niche parties by the sounds of it so they must be unpopular for a reason, dunno tbh I'm very unintiated and therefore want to broaden my political views before making a mandatory decision in a months time.

Not On My Smashed Avo disrespectful youth

I took two of my clients to the movies today for a nice outing, and honestly had the most disgusting experience at Reading Cinemas in Dandenong.

3 young boys I’d say around 17-18yo were obnoxious, loud, being disrespectful the whole movie and ignored my many attempts of asking them to stop and telling them we paid to be there to see the movie too.

At the end of the movie, they ran out before the lights turned on and threw all their full snack packets and full bottles of soft drinks at us, which thankfully missed, because this could have caused injury at the force it was thrown.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour, and I had told the cinema staff who I suggested call security as I could see the boys hovering outside the cinema. The staff would not despite my many attempts to request this, and instead just gave us 3 free movie vouchers.

I appreciate the vouchers but for 3 young women walking back to the car I was appalled they didn’t take the request seriously especially considering how aggressive those boys were and obviously had no qualms throwing stuff at us to cause harm.

I don’t know what I’m trying to achieve out of writing this but I’ve never had this happen before and I’m honestly shocked and disgusted at how these guys behaved.
Has anyone ever had this experience? Is it worth notifying the police over?
The cinema management didn’t seem too interested in helping much and i wouldn’t be able to give a clear description due to the dark movie theatre, as they left before the lights turned on.

Real estate/Renting First Timer renter wondering how to move in an extra roommate

Just moved out of home for the first time and have been renting by myself for 4ish months now in a two bedroom unit, I've been quite comfortable so far and not had any issues. recently had a good friend approach who was interested in moving into the other bedroom which id be happy to have so I can save a bit of extra money.

Just unsure about how to actually move them in do I need to sublet or have them as an approved resident or actually get them on the lease?

Real estate/Renting Suburb advice for FHB Doreen, Diamond Creek and Mernda

So we're moving from Auckland Nz next year and currently looking for an area to settle down in VIC. Rent first and then build/buy.

I work remotely (Drive to CBD once a month)
Partner is in Veterinary, plenty of options there and nearby.

  1. We're looking for family-oriented areas as we will be starting a family soon.
  2. Basic amenities coles/wollies nearby.
  3. Leafy the area the better.
  4. We don't go out much, so traffic, etc., is not a big concern.

Please would love to hear your stories and experiences.

THDG Need Help Bike shops with good range of apparel?

Morning all.

I've got a new job, and I'm back to biking to work 4 days a week. I need some new bib shorts, a new pair of shoes, and maybe a couple of jerseys.

Any recommendations for bike shops that carry a good range of apparel so I can try brands and sizes, rather than ordering and returning a million things online? (CBD or inner North would be ideal)

Brand reccos are welcome too; I'm after comfort and quality (washes well, etc.), but they don't need to make a big fashion statement!

Cheers 🚴
