Event Social Reading at Fitzory Tonight!

• Upvotes

Hope to see some of you there tonight! If you've got no plans after work and want to meet new people, come along.

I host a social reading event called Enchanted Hours over at Moondrop Bar and we have a Dungeon Crawler Carl themed (fantasy/LitPRG genre) tonight.

You don't need to have read the books, but it will help if you bring a book along as we will read for an hour (quiet reading) then get into more of a social connection/chat session after.

Ticket sales at the door or via Humanitix (comes with a welcome drink and some bookmarks, as well as use of a private space.

Meet people 31M in Melbourne looking to meet new people, especially if you've been through a breakup lately

Hey Melbourne,

I'm 31 and based in Preston I recently went through a breakup after a long relationship. It ended kindly, but it's been hard, and I'd like to build up my circle and meet some new people. If you've been through one recently too and want to connect, I'd really like to hear from you.

Things I'm into:

- Live music, gigs and swapping music recs

- Bush walks and slowing down to notice small things like birds, bugs and mushrooms (I've done some mushroom foraging)

- Cooking and trying new food

- looking at getting into boxing and fitness

- Guitars and gaming

- Fantasy books (big Cosmere fan)

Keen for a coffee, a walk, a gig, a cook-up or a game night.

Any age or gender is welcome. If you're into any of this or you're going through something similar, drop a comment or message me.

Cheers!

Event F27, anyone want go to a cheesemaking workshop in Surrey Hills?

Edit: didn't really think through the logistics of booking - discounted price is only available if you buy two tickets which I'm not comfortable doing on behalf of a stranger so I think I'll put a pin in this for now sorry! Will look at booking early bird next time and invite others to join instead. Thanks to everyone who dm'd me and lmk if you end up going anyway 🙂

Event details here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/1987883891231

Location: Surrey Hills Neighbourhood House
Date: Sunday 15 November

In the morning (10am-1pm) workshop, you make Feta, Camembert, Blue and Ricotta. In the afternoon (2pm-5pm) workshop, you make Mozzarella, Bocconcini, Halloumi, Cheddar and Cottage cheeses (and I will show you how to make Burrata). For those booked on the full day experience, we will also make Mascarpone in the lunch break (1pm-2pm) between workshops.

Half day is $125pp & full day is $225 (or $205 if we book together). Bit steep but I think it will be fun! The host runs these workshops regularly around Melbourne so open to another date/location if you're keen but can't make it.

About me:
- friendly and easy to talk to
- big fan of "grandma hobbies" like embroidery, reading and gardening
- in need of tv/film recs

Also I have practically ✨️ perfected ✨️ my pizza recipe so this will be BIG if I learn how to make cheese too.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to comment or DM if you're interested 🙂

Meet people 33 F looking for girlfriends

Hello :)

I'm from Melbourne originally but travelled so much in my 20s now I'm settled with my doggo and boyfriend. I used to live up the coast and had a good community with surfing but now being back in Melbs I've lost my way a bit socially plus being older now it's a lot harder to make real friendships not just party friends.

I was hoping to meet the same like minded souls.
I live in Kensington. I love music, walking, getting coffee, very much a girls girl! I love learning about psychology and big on everything happens for a reason. 💕

I love having conversations about life and bringing one another up and supporting each other!

Please reach out if you want to grab a coffee. 🌊💗🌸

Sorry no males.

Meet people 25M Looking for pub crawls, cafe visits, walks

Spent the last 2 years in Melbourne grinding my a** off as a new migrant (Masters student) and didn’t get to properly experience what Melbourne had to offer. Now that my degree is done in November, I have 2 months with me before I move to Tassie for my job.

Hence I plan to make the most of these 2 months, and explore Melbourne to the fullest, or at least as much as I can financially manage 😅

About me : Masters student @ Melbourne Uni. Originally from India 🇮🇳. Will be moving to Tassie in Feb (Hobart). Working @BWS if anyone is keen on a discount 👀

Locations I’m open to : CBD, CBD/Inner city parks (Carlton Gardens, Fitzroy Gardens), NE/East Suburbs

What I offer : Gradually cultivated knowledge of hidden bars/pubs, know some decent coffee spots, amateur photographer so can take decent pics of you

hmu/comment if anyone’s interested ✌️

Meet people F50 looking for inner Melbourne mates.

I have made some good connections on this sub... hoping for a few more especially now one is moving interstate :(

I am a 'sharing music is my love language' kind of person, very into EDM, live events, sitting in a sunny beer garden on a weekend afternoon having conversations that go in a million directions. If you are heading to Bicep on Sunday night that would be a huge bonus! I keep fit, don't do a lot of watching of TV or film... I'd rather walk and be in nature, travelling or talking to dogs at the beach. Trivia, thrifting, vinyl bars, tattoos are a few other loves. I have lived in Melbourne most of my life, but travelled extensively and spent a few years living abroad.

I am located close to the CBD so have a preference for similar. I am a straight shooter, professionally employed, divorced, always on time, generally open minded but avoid anything relating to religion or far right politics. Looking 35-55 ONLY and definitely prefer if you are also single. All my mates are partnered / occupied with kids so finding time with them is already enough of a challenge!

Small talk is my pet peeve... ie 'How's your day going?' or 'Tell me about yourself' so hoping you are educated and linguistically gifted enough to offer more than that, and keen to meet after we have established an online connection. The best conversations flow from random starters. Give me a fun fact about you, an event or something coming up in life you are looking forward to.

If you think we might have a few things in common, DM me (not comment below) more than a line about yourself, age and location and I'll respond if you seem like a good fit ... effort is king.

*Don't be looking to cheat on your partner or launch straight into NSFW crap.*

Plans this week Halloween Horror Film Talk at Pakenham Library

Hiya all, just getting the word out that there will be a two hour presentation on horror films of the 70s at Pakenham Library this Friday (30th October) at 6:30pm. It includes a display of rare, vintage horror film posters. Free to get in, but adults only! (clips shown may include adult scenes). Bookings are required. It would be great to see you there :)

https://bookings.myli.org.au/event/5914665

When gothic dreams became contemporary nightmares: The horror films of the 1970s

For decades the horror film had been confined to the dusty gothic dreamscapes of Frankenstein, Dracula and Edgar Allan Poe adaptations. Then, with the loosened restrictions of the late 1960s the American horror film emerged to confront the present. Whether you lived in big cities, midwestern suburbs or small-town nowhere you were not safe from demonic children, chainsaw wielding madmen, mask-wearing psychos and marauding mother-nature. Even the local shopping mall may be crawling with flesh craving zombies.

Added to that was the imported horror of burning wicker men from Britain and gut churning Italian jungle cannibal adventures.

Join Dr. Dean Brandum for a journey back to horror’s greatest decade, when the genre reflected the neuroses of a troubled time. Strictly for attendees 18 and over, this presentation will include a visual display of original horror posters of the period (plus before and beyond).

Meet people 33M looking for inner city walking buddies

Hey there 33M corporate slave who is working till the evening these days. I like to stay fit so I'll often try to get in ~10k steps after work, hoping to expand my social circle a bit while doing it :)

Looking for guys or girls between 20-40 who live nearby as I often go around flagstaff, carlton gardens or fitzroy gardens. Would be nice to get a lil group going, welcome to bring a friend too.

A bit about me I'm wasian, born here, extroverted but pretty laidback and I don't take myself too seriously. Here's a few things I like:

-Enjoy a good gym sesh or a nice hike, sadly my badminton racquets are dusty 😔

-For gaming, FPS, roguelikes, card games and board games (used to be a pro gamer)

-Love trying new cuisines and dishes

-Big into techno/edm, love going to festivals and raves

-I like comedy, horror, anime or anything with a compelling story when I'm not watching a youtube doco

Got too many interests here and there to list them and I'd like to think I'm a decent conversationalist, so if you're interested shoot me a dm :)

*** Update ***

Hey just a heads up for any newcomers, we'll be doing a walk tomorrow night (28th) starting from carlton gardens at 8:30pm. Then on Thursday do another starting from flinders station at 8:30.

If you're interested DM me and I'll send you the exact location :)

Meet people 44f in outer east

Hey folks. I’m 44f out east, and I am a neurodivergent delight (ha).

I’m separated from my ex and have granted him majority custody of many of our friends, so I’m looking to meet new people, gender and sexual orientation entirely irrelevant.

I’m into sci-fi and horror, tattoos, books generally, and I will talk about Star Trek for hours if given the chance (but I will shut up about it if it’s not your thing).

I have a lot of fun stories about my brother whose MO in life seems to be FAFO.

I’m pretty direct but also empathetic.

Hit me up if coffee and chats are your thing.

Meet people F19 looking for friends!

I just moved back to melbourne recently, hoping to meet people who i can click with. Both female/male friends are fine, even though i prefer female.

About me, I’m 19, in western suburbs and my english isn’t the best. Mostly about my hearing, sometimes i cant hear what people say in my native language as well😅 I love fashion, game, ballet, some books and movies. Love to draw as well :)) I can be quite shy/awkward at first but if we click I can be talkative. Love to thrift or just walk around with my friends talking about stuffs.

Hope to find friends i can hang out with on a daily basis, we can go check out restaurants/exhibitions/concerts and explore melb. Mostly people around my age but idm older! I go to Deakin so it would be great to have friends there too :3

Meet people 25M, new to Melbourne and looking to make some friends!

Hey everyone! I’m 25M and recently moved back to Melbourne after a few months of travelling overseas. Figured I’d give this a go as I’d love to meet some new people and make some friends around the city!

I’ve also recently gone through a breakup after a long-term relationship, so I’m kinda starting a new chapter in life and trying to get out there a bit more instead of just rotting at home 😂

A little about me:
• Big into gaming, especially Pokémon, Dead by Daylight and horror games
• Love horror movies and going to the movies
• Huge fan of Japan and travelling in general
• Into tech and building/tinkering with computers
• Always keen to try new food places or just go for a wander and explore somewhere new
• I’m pretty easygoing and down for most things, whether that’s grabbing food, going to the movies, gaming, exploring Melbourne or just having a chill hangout.

Would be cool to meet some people around a similar age and hopefully make some genuine friendships! Feel free to message me if you’re keen 😊

Meet people 30F looking to expand my social circle!

Hi all,

I’m 30F and looking to meet new people and expand my social circle.

I’m only looking for female friends unfortunately! I like the outdoors, reading, thrifting, dogs, horror movies…

I’d be keen to meet someone who’d like to hang out during the weekdays, maybe do a spin or Pilates class together or watch a movie!

I’m a good listener and I’m down for most things :)

Please feel free to DM if this caught your eye

Meet people 26M4F - Looking for new friends, possibly relationships maybe a few dates as well

Hi, hope you’re doing great.

About Me - 26 M, live in the SE suburbs. I have been working in hospitality but I’m actively looking for opportunities in tech. Originally from India, been in Melbourne for over 3 years now. I’d say I’m about 60/40 introvert/extrovert. Haven’t had much luck with dating apps, and this sub keeps showing on my feed, so I figured It’d try my luck here.

Interests - Movies, Books and Music. I follow a lot of sports too, mainly Cricket, NBA and EPL. God, it is hard being a Utd fan these days😭.

But yeah, I go to concerts every now and then. HMU if you’re going for GnR in Dec. Most of my time goes to work and learning new things, but happy to make time for the right person.

What I’m up for - Cafe or Casual Drinks (and the odd cig), or a walk in the park/beach discussing life. I went bowling recently and had a lot of fun, so I’d been keen to do that again. Open to Movies as well.

Who I’m looking for - Someone with similar interests. Easy to go. Chill. Go on and educate me on random stuff. Love Intellectual and Emotional Intelligence. Send me your recommendations. If we match, we continue or else just have a good time and be friends.

But yeah, I’d love to chat a couple of times first, get to know on, then go to dates🙂
