Question Increasing the thickness and weight of a Mini in next generation (2027/28) in exchange for 120Hz Dealbreaker or not?

So we all now know there is no 120Hz display in the new mini.

If Apple made the next generation (2027 or other later models) mini thicker and marginally heavier to compensate for the increased refresh rate and battery needed. In addition to potentially including FaceID would you buy it then?

And if not what is the reason?

How likely is an iPad Mini-Pro?

Apple still has a pro and tell event coming up. They’ve revealed the regular MacBooks, the iPad mini prior to the event.

Given that they’ve essentially given the mini8 so many pro features: it’s as thin as the iPad Pros, the bezels are the thinnest on any iPad, its ultra light, and supports both pencils, but no 120hz.

Is it possible that they’re withholding these features for a separate mini pro iPad with 120hz?

Advise iPad Mini 8 specs are not a problem for me, but…?

iPad Mini 8 specs are not a problem for me. My last Mini was the 2. Been waiting for this for a long time. I have a very mobile and mostly on-my-feet at work. iPad Mini fits my lab coat perfectly. 512gb wifi+cellular for me since I need the memory for stored content while traveling.

The only question for me now is, standard or nano-texture?

Question The Next iPad Mini from Apple: Does an OLED Upgrade Justify the Cost?

Apple has launched the new iPad mini that has created some buzz among people with its allegedly improved OLED screen and A20 Pro processor. If all these updates have improved visual performance, gaming, and overall performance of the tablet, it would be an excellent choice for those who like small tablets.

But with the alleged cost of ₹82,900 in India, I’m not sure if it is a good choice compared to others in the market.

What do you think about the new iPad mini? Will you purchase it, or is Apple pricing the iPad mini too high?

So they're still gonna announce the mini pro on the 28th right? /s

To justify that they would have to throw an M chip in there, brighter display, 120hz, and of course more colors.

For my real question, I was wondering:

Is anyone who doesn't have an iPad Mini or iPad already still grabbing the iPad Mini 8 like they planned or has the lack of 120 hz paired with a 128 base storage turned you towards a competing tablet (Red Magic Astra 2, Samsung Tab 10FE, etc)?

Should I get Nano-Texture?

I mostly use my iPad mini to watch movies and shows while I’m traveling or commuting. Will the nano-texture be so much better for that? Do you have any experience with it? Can you recommend it?

Medical Student here — iPad Mini 7 or 8?

I’m a medical student looking to get an iPad Mini mainly for studying: handwritten notes with Apple Pencil, reading lecture slides/PDFs, and studying during commutes/transit. I don’t game much, if at all.

For someone who will mostly use it for note-taking, PDFs, and studying on the go, is the Mini 8’s OLED screen and extra portability noticeably better in daily use? Or would the Mini 7 be the smarter value choice, especially if I can find it discounted?
Also, if anyone uses either model with an Apple Pencil for long note-taking sessions, I’d love to hear about glare, eye comfort, battery life, and whether the size difference matters.

Thanks a lot! 😊

Do you think we will see any Black Friday deals for the iPad Mini 8?

It looks to have a lot of great additions and new features, but $700 is a lil bit steep. I’m hoping this Black Friday provides some good savings.

Does Apple typically do Black Friday sales on iPad Minis?

Noticed this in the Apple Website. 512GB model comes with a DUAL 16-core Neural Engine + 6-core CPU vs 5-core CPU. Just something to keep in mind for those looking for performance tablets.

What the heck is up with the new iPad Mini A20 Smart Folio case?

Post image
32 Upvotes

Seems there's just one folding point compared to the two on the previous Smart Folio cases, yet the diagrams below still show it as folding into a triangle shape.

I'm really worried about this because IMO they screwed up the smart folio design when they changed it for the M4 iPad Pro (less sturdy, not as ergonomic, sits at a weird angle) and now I'm concerned they've done the same with the iPad Mini.

And for some reason still, after all these years, if you want the thinnest and lightest case/stand, only Apple is making anything like the Smart Folio. Would love to be wrong if anyone has found something as good or better!

What does everyone think about this new design? I'm scared! lol

Also, side note, but wtf is up with Apple's aversion to colors?? I loved all the options for the A17 and now we're just back to muted black and muted...beige. 🤮

iPad Mini 8 from Tab s10+

After seeing the specs and announcement, while I'm not completely sure whether at the end of the day 60 Hz is going to be a game changer for me, I am tempted to change from Android to iOS given I've bought a Macbook and my tablet is almost the same size, it just feels unnecessary.

Any thoughts would be amazing!

Grazie a tutti

Extended display with 27.2?

I just saw a video that stated the iPad Mini 8 will have extended display with 27.2. Is this only for the Mini 8 or is this an option on the 6/7?

New Hardware “No” to the new Mini 8

I am a fan of the Mini for its size; easy to use in a meeting, on a plane, or to watch YouTube in bed. For me, it is a digital resource for work. I am heavily vested in the native apps.

I would purchase another Mini 7, were it not for the fact that Apple will limit its longevity based upon software updates.

Very Frustrating.

Brightness

I’ve seen many gripes with the new Mini release but I haven’t really seen anyone mention the brightness. This is my biggest issue with my current mini and was hoping they’d increase the brightness substantially. 120hz would be nice but I’m not super annoyed by that (still sad). I just don’t understand how anyone can sit and use a phone with 1000 nit brightness and then switch to a 600 nit tablet and be happy. I know it goes higher with HDR content but who is really watching much of that? Scrolling reddit, surfing the web, etc, still maxed at 600 nit. Maybe I’m missing something but this seems like the biggest deal breaker for me.

Question Hardware or software limited to 60hz?

I am curious if the new oled panel is even hardware limited to 60hz or this is an artificial limitation by Apple to separate it from the pro line.

Personally it feels like it would be hard to even find 60hz panels in this day and age and they would not even be cheaper to manufacture than ones capable of 120hz.

Potentially if enough backlash they could add the feature in software and that is why they specifically don’t mention the refresh rate on the product page?
