Extended display with 27.2?

I just saw a video that stated the iPad Mini 8 will have extended display with 27.2. Is this only for the Mini 8 or is this an option on the 6/7?

Mini 8 only. Guessing it’s the GPU in A20 since no other A chip iPad can drive an external monitor.

Other A chips can drive an external monitor, but they are limited in software to only offering screen mirroring rather than extended display. Apple may have reasons other than "we don't want these devices to have that feature so you'll buy something more expensive" for doing this, but good luck convincing the general public of that.

A18 pro chip from IPhone 16 series running full MacOS with external monitor support on MacBook Neo. Jailbreak community have had external monitor support running on the IPad Mini 6 for years.

iPad 8 only. No way they could release the A18 pro running full MacOS on the Neo with external monitor support no problem and then deny the A20 pro the full iPad OS experience. The A17 pro could probably have run it too but then they would have stopped a big potential pool of people that are now looking to upgrade to the 8. The only reason I have iPad Pros is for the external monitor support but with this being a thing now I might sell all of them and consolidate my whole computing life into iPad mini 8 and an iPhone. Don’t even really need Mac OS either for me. I Have a MacBook Pro but always find myself using the simplicity of iPad os more
