Discussion Veto discussion

Trade vetoed

So today a trade went down in my league (ESPN H2H PTS) and the league decided it was unfair and wanted to veto, I made a comment earlier in the daily thread and was told to make a post so here I am lol. The trade was ausar and duren for scottie, also 7$ in faab from the scottie side. Now upon it being accepted, the LM instantly called for a veto and majority of the league agreed on it. Their argument was that ausar is a waiver player, especially in a points league, and that scottie has top 10 upside while Duren is hurt and is only top 30. My argument was that a previous trade that was jalen green + kon for booker, which i did not see as entirely fair, was allowed and the league jumped to defend it when it was brought up in this situation. I strictly believe that trades should be vetoed for collusion only. I’ve been playing fantasy ball for 7 years now, and I haven’t seen anything like this as this is a new league im in, am i tripping or was this vetoed unfairly?

Player Discussion Day’Ron “Butterknife” Sharpe

• Upvotes

Sharpe looked like a solid breakout candidate coming into the season, with a clear path to starting minutes and strong per-minute rebounding and defensive production.

His minutes through four games are concerning:

Oct 21: 30 minutes
Oct 24: 23 minutes (ejected)
Oct 25: 16 minutes (blowout)
Oct 27: 17 minutes (OT loss)

The ejection and blowout are understandable, but 17 minutes in a competitive OT game is harder to explain.

Moritz Wagner played 22 minutes against Boston, putting up 15 points while Sharpe finished with 4 points and 6 boards. Sharpe had four fouls, but Wagner increasingly looks like legitimate competition for minutes.

At 27–30 MPG, Sharpe has plenty of fantasy appeal, particularly in points leagues. At 18–22, he’s probably waiver fodder in standard leagues.

Is this early-season rotation tinkering, a matchup issue, or the beginning of a genuine timeshare? What’s everyone expecting for his minutes and role ROS?

Player Discussion Micah Nori: “Like I told them, you're (Lillard, Jrue, Morant) going to get yourself to your 28 to 30, 32 minutes. It might not be the 36.„

Full quote:

Micah Nori: “Like I told them, you're going to get yourself to your 28 to 30, 32 minutes. It might not be the 36. And I don't think that those three guys, when I say those three - Jrue, Ja, and Dame - they may get those every once in a while, but I don't think consistently that it'd be fair to them to play them that much.”

Can someone fill me in on wtf is going on to start the season? I drafted him in the fourth round at his ADP after hearing he’d be one of the best centers in the league but he’s getting 20 minutes a game and killing me here so far. Am I missing something with this guy? (Never paid much attention to him or Portland before)

Player Discussion Terrence Shannon Jr.

Will TSJ be getting more of a minutes increase than Ayo as a result of Ant’s absense? He’s been doing pretty well on low 20’s minutes per game, but it’s hard to tell who’s going to be the guy to step up on the Twolves. Only 6% rostered in ESPN leagues

Player Discussion Garland early overreactions

how do you all feel about Garland so far? the turnovers are worrisome considering the lack of talent surrounding him. I expect his efficiency to go up once Ingram returns, but is this start to the season a sign of what’s to come, or just new adjustments?

Do we think this is going to be an ongoing issue for the rest of the season? I thought he would be fully healthy, given he had 18 months to recover.

Discussion Sleeper Lock In

So for sleeper lock in if someone is playing today, I should always swap them into my starting lineup with someone not playing today right? Just so I could lock it in in case they do really good?

Player Discussion Is this the most brutal start to fantasy bball ever?

It’s literally been 1 week since the season started and we’ve got

- Jdub likely out for season
- JJJ probably out for like 2+ months
- Paolo probably 2 months out
- Suggs probably a month out
- Duren 2+ weeks out
- Keegan Murray 2+ weeks out
- Kawhi (cooked) who knows when hes back
- cason Wallace out for most the season
- Kon Knueppel - Unknown return time
- Coby White - Unknown return time
- Ingram - Unknown return time
- Zubac TBC
- Lauri TBC
- Ausar TBC
- Chet seems to have a knee issue TBC
- Ben Simmons season over
- Kristaps might retire
- Nurkic out to start the season
- ANTHONY EDWARDS - 2 months

All in 1 week feels crazyy

EDIT: As people are saying it's the same every year, here's what I found for 1 week in to last season:

- Vanvleet out for season
- Garland Toe issue - few months
- Edey - Ankle surgery, done for season
- Lebron, scacitia, 3 weeks
- Herro, ankle, a month
- Edwards, Fox, Jalen Green - 1 week hamstring injuries
- Keegan Murray - Thumb, a month
- Luka - 1 week leg strain
- Scoot, hamstring tear (preseason), 4 months
- Kessler, out for season (Technically was after the 1st week of the season but will include it)
- Paul George - surgery recovery, 2 weeks
- Coby White - Calf strain, 2 weeks
- Miller, shoulder, 2-3 weeks
- Trae, 1.5 months, and then Wizards shenanigans (technically was the 2nd week as well)

Last season was definitely still rough, but I think this season is way worse, particularly I think because of the length of the injuries to higher quality fantasy players

Player Discussion Amen Thompson

Am I the only one a bit disappointed with Amen so far in 9CAT? Maybe I’m delusional but I expected some more stocks and less turnovers. In my draft he fell to pick 25 so I felt like it was good value. Would love to hear others’ thoughts.

What are everyones thoughts on him? He's had an electric start to the season and looks like a quality player for my 12T points. Is his production sustainable?

Player Discussion Josh “Time-bomb” Hart

What is the general sentiment around Hart? I got him late around pick 90 and have enjoyed his production so far, but I think he is a sell high and an injury risk. Mikal should eat away at his stats a little bit once he gets going and his finger is a career ender if it gets reaggravated. Just wanted to hear thoughts on this since it seems a lot of people don’t share my view.

Player Discussion Saddiq Bey

Haven't seen much discussion of Bey this year, as I don't recall his name coming up much during pre-draft analysis despite the 3-year/$55m extension indicating some level of commitment from ownership.

Final 3 months of last season: 20-5-3, 2.5 triples, 46% / 86% (on 5 FTA) in 32 mins. Good enough for top 50 in 9cat over the last 38 games, with Dejounte back in the lineup for a chunk of those.

Mathurin's arrival presented the only new threat, but he's averaging 18 mins and looks terrible. So Saddiq's mins are down (24) yet he's hanging on to late-round value thanks to high usage: 16-4-1, 2.3 triples, 50% / 83% (4 FTA). Boring safe end of bench stuff.

Now it appears Missi could be out long term, presumably forcing Pels into some smaller rotations and Bey seems like an obvious beneficiary in this scenario. Probably needs 28 mins to be a top 100 player. Am I crazy for thinking he's worth getting ahead of as a 9cat pickup?
