Maybe we could win more games if the refs would stop dropping these yellow things

Jerry Jones to 105.3 the Fan on the conversation he had (see video below) with #Cowboys great Troy Aikman — and if he’d ever consider adding Aikman to Dallas’ staff: … “don’t rule it out. it is very possible.”

Growing up in Philly, seeing us finally give Eagles fans their own medicine was incredible

If you didn't grow up surrounded by these people, it's hard to explain just how toxic it gets. They were literally celebrating when Dak got hurt.

They hate the Cowboys to the core, and they’ve spent years talking down on us and rubbing it in even when we were completely irrelevant and they were beating up on a bad squad.

Even when they beat cooper rush they were celebrating by saying “f*** Dallas” all through the neighborhoods and literally threw a parade in center city. Doesn’t matter how bad we are, they celebrate the most when they beat the cowboys

Massive shoutout to the fans who still taunted them even if we beat them when they suck. Win or lose, easy game or not, they deserve every bit of it. About time they got the same treatment. It’s also nice to see the eagles suck and the fans talk less trash lol

Jerry has said he is open to adding to the defense.

I've seen reports that the saints are probably going to be sellers. What would it cost to go get Chase Young?

With Jalen Thompson and P.J. Locke returning, is there a realistic chance this defense can become league average?

I know the defense has been horrible, but with Thompson and Locke coming back, I'm wondering how much of a difference they could realistically make.

Is there enough talent here to turn things around and at least become a middle-of-the-pack defense? Or are the problems too deep for a couple of players to make a meaningful difference?

Curious what everyone thinks.

I actually feel pretty good about beating the Cardinals for the first time in years.

No more Jonathan Gannon-Vic Fangio voodoo bullshit (although Dak has generally been nails against both of them while they were with the Eagles) like in 2023 and 2025. No more JG icing his own kicker like in 2011. No more getting them in the one randomly good season they have per decade like in 2008 and 2021. No more having to play them with fucking Brandon Weeden, Andy Dalton, Jon Kitna, or Stephen McGee at QB because Dak and/or Romo are injured like in 2010, 2014, and 2020. It's a normal noon home game against a team that is going nowhere. We literally just need the defense to be the same level of regular bad that they were against the Eagles, instead of historically bad, and the offense ought to be able to do its part.

Cowboys Week 7 Notes

Offense

- Cowboys NEED to lean on the run game going forward. They quite literally need to shove it down defenses throats. Once the run game opens up it’s only money for the passing game as defenses will have to play more honestly. This should be their identity going forward. It’s simple, don’t get too cute, you have the personnel.

- Javonte is going to be an elite RB if he has sonic to his knuckles. Goodson played incredible last night, but if he’s inconsistent I would not be opposed to a trade for someone like Tony pollard.

- What is the tight end situation lookjng like going forward? Ferg is just a body at this point and BSF is splitting snaps with him and rotating in special teams and only had 2 catches. Are they moving on from TEs in the pass game and just using them as extra blockers going forward? Is 88/3/19 ball good enough? It may be naive but I think that may be a decent strategy

- Still not optimistic about Schotty. He opened up the playbook and let Dak have more control, but damn man he just gets so vanilla sometimes it pisses me off. Leaving one timeout on the board on that last drive and a Luepke run on 3rd down in the redzone is just BS to me. Solid gameplan overall against a healthy eagles defense but damn still feels like he is holding the offense back sometimes.

Defense

- Defense is extremely concerning to me, and it’s no longer the players, it’s looking like a Parker issue now. Felt like they should have been more aggressive against a backup qb with wr3, 4, and 5 starting.

- Once again the cowboys 3rd down defense is devastating. Looking great on 1st and 2nd, but complete butter on 3rd. Just absolute lack of discipline.

- Despite the uninspiring performance overall, what we can say is that this defense, unlike last year, HAS guys. Quinnen is finally dominant, Overshown still has big play ability, and JPJ is lock-down, JPJ may be one of my favorite players now he’s just an absolute dawg. Downs is still somewhat struggling in coverage, but he is at least playing great downhill. Parker needs to really figure how to get the talent to work together, there’s just no reason to occasionally look uninspiring overall against that broken eagles offense.

Overall

- Offense has a clear blueprint for their identity going forward, just dependent on if Schotty can stay disciplined and not do too much.

- Defense looks uninspiring, but they have talent, and Parker MUST find a way to make it work

- Any win is good, especially against your biggest rival on the road, but this and these next two games are must-wins but not needle moving. Lose any of the next two and you are a bum team. To really see what this team is about after the adversity from TB-GB, the San Fran game will be very telling
