Events, Activities & Sports Date Night for Elder Millennials

Hey kids, I need some date night ideas. Located in the Mountain View/Sunnyvale/Cupertino area and are open to traveling 90ish minutes away for something really worth it. We are nearing 40 and aren't athletic. He drinks a LITTLE, I do not. We love music, movies, food, art, and even sporting events can be fun. My husb has taken me on so many amazing dates including beautiful restaurants and concerts to my favorite artists and now I want to plan a cool night. This will be on a Thursday night soon. He is recovering from a serious ankle surgery so we can do a little walking but this can't be a hiking or walking/standing-heavy night. Small bursts are fine.

For restaurants, we have been to:
Fogo de Chao (always wonderful, a favorite)
Maggiano's (overrated)
Arya Steakhouse (wouldn't recommend, won't go back)
King's Fishhouse (excellent coming from a non fish lover)
Alexander's Steakhouse (good but fatally overpriced)
Alexander's by the Sea (just ok, so expensive)
Valley Goat (a favorite, always pleased)
Teleferic (he LOVES this place)
3 Butchers
Cucina Venti (yummy but so expensive)

I've been wanting to bring him to La Forêt and Shadowbrooke (which I admit, mostly want to go for the cable car ride through the trees).

I LOVE a 2-3 location date night. Activity, dinner, drinks/dessert.

Any suggestions?

Events, Activities & Sports [Academic] Bay Area High School Student Needs Responses for a 2-Minute AP Government Survey (All Ages)

Hi everyone!

I'm a high school senior from the Bay Area working on a public opinion polling project for my AP U.S. Government class, and I need at least 40 responses.

The survey asks about a few national political issues and California ballot propositions. It's only 7 mcq and should take about 2 minutes to complete.

Anyone is welcome to participate, even if you don't live in California! All responses are completely anonymous and will only be used for my school project.

I'd really appreciate anyone who takes a couple of minutes to help me out. Thank you so much!

For the low low ask of ~one FTE at a frontier lab, you can keep an institution that defines the maker spirit here alive.

For the low low ask of hitting up your friends, you could endow them in a way that keeps the fire burning through the long nights to come.

Literally.

ps not really sure what flair fits arts and philanthropy... maybe we could add one!

Food, Shopping & Services Recs for Consciousness, Presence, Awareness training in the Bay?

Looking to take the next steps in this pursuit. I'm stuck at just understanding that "I" am not my thoughts. I have trouble holding on to this understanding in my everyday life. I'd like training and a place where an expert can offer guidance and perhaps a place with scheduled practice/classes.

I've tried Chung Tai Zen in Sunnyvale, but not sure if that's the right modality for me.

Pets & Animal Services Dog Training/ Anyone worked with Mahogany Gamble (Infinite K9 / Refined K9) in the Bay Area?

Hey everyone! I’m looking into local board-and-train or behavior modification programs in the Bay Area and came across Mahogany Gamble. Her focus on canine fulfillment and structure looks really thorough, but I wanted to see if anyone here has firsthand experience working with her or her teams at Infinite K9 / Refined K9? Would love to hear your thoughts on her approach.

I also came across Gary Maria in Walnut Creek.

I thought I posted this video last week but it may have failed. Person coming from the left clearly ran a red light. I hope the victim finds this video to submit to their insurance.

Food, Shopping & Services Negotiating prices at Indian clothing stores

Can you negotiate pricing at Indian clothing stores like you would in India? What percentage do they typically go down to?

For context, I’m from a major metro city in India and negotiating is expected, often 30-50% off the marked price. Does this model work in US too?

Food, Shopping & Services Kaiser HMO for high risk pregnancy and childbirth

I am currently on Kaiser HMO through my employer. So far I have had no issues. I do have some chronic conditions which are being taken care of pretty well. My PCP is also nice, I just have to ask her if I need to see a specialist and she will give me the referral.

We are TTC and I am wondering if I should stay with Kaiser or switch to United PPO. My chronic conditions affect pregnancy but are manageable with medication. It will probably be a high-risk pregnancy.

How is Kaiser’s maternal-foetal medicine department? How was your experience giving birth at Kaiser? I would greatly appreciate any input. Thanks.

Events, Activities & Sports Coached running club in East Bay

• Upvotes

I'm from Spain, and for the past few years I've been training at a running club under the supervision of a coach who set personalized training plans based on individual goals. We used to train in groups split by similar paces, which really helped with motivation and pushing my limits. Under his guidance, I managed to run a 2:57 marathon in Chicago this year.

Right now, I live in the East Bay (in Fremont), and while I'm still training, I almost always do it alone and haven't found anyone yet with a similar level/pace to mine. Because of that, I was wondering if there is a club in the East Bay similar to the one I belonged to in Spain.

Looking online, I found Oakland Track Cub, but I'm not sure if it's the kind of club I'm looking for.

Work & Housing Domus Apartments, Mountain View. Thoughts?

Hello, I'm in the market looking to rent a 2b2b in MV. Recently came across Domus which fell within our budget and we toured. While not extraordinary, it works best for us because of the proximity to work and the pricing.

I do however see that the Google reviews for it are pretty bad and mostly centered around maintenance and move out fees and process being cumbersome.

Would love to know if anyone lives there or know anyone who lives there and if there are any red flags we need to know about.

And secondly, are there any other better apartments in the area? With similar type of community with basic amenities, AC, In unit washer dryer.

Traffic, Trains & Transit Stereo Repair

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm looking for recommendations for a good, qualified, stereo repair person or shop in or near San Francisco. The Nissan dealership quoted me $1600 for an entirely new unit which I don't know that I need yet. And another $300 just to diagnose what's wrong with it. When I told them what was wrong with it, they suggested I just replace the whole unit of course.

Basically, when I turn the volume up, it goes down. When I turn the volume down, it goes up. It also randomly switches from Apple CarPlay to Sirius XM and of course the volume levels are different so when that happens it blasts the music to deafening levels!!

Events, Activities & Sports Industrial Arts Classes in the Bay Area - I wrote a blog

The sad and sudden, temporary closure of The Crucible, motivated me to update my list of places to experience industrial arts in the Bay. (Fair warning, my own blacksmith shop is amongst those listed.) I'm part of the arts community that I care deeply about. And supporting small arts organizations ensures that artists stay employed and continue to have a place to live and work in the bay.

Work & Housing Planning to move to SF, with very little savings

Hi, I just moved to the US from India last month. I live in Dallas right now. I am an AI engineer, but its been tough to find a job in this market. I feel like I'll make my odds better if I move to SF, and attend the tech events in the weekends.

I have very little savings tho ~$2500. I need to find a place (shared room around $800), and get some job (tech support/store front/grocery or anything else that keeps me going until i find my target job).

I wanna find a hackerhouse to live. Cause i think i will get to meet new people in tech there. I'm a founder myself.

Please suggest me where I can find/rent a place to live in my budget, that also allows me to commute easily around the city.

Also, please tell me how to find a job asap in SF to get me going.
