Hi everyone,
So my axolotl had a white fungus infection about 2 months ago and I treated by quarantining in a separate clean tub. I tried giving black tea baths at least 2 times. It seemed to clear up but then it returned yesterday. It is this white fluffy stuff that grows on the external gills. I tried using the turkey baster to either suck up the white fungus or knock it off, but it wouldn’t come off. I ended up carefully removing it with the feeding tweezers which I know was probably stressful for my axolotl. I am aware that they can shed their slime coat if they’re stressed. I don’t think it’s a water quality issue as I monitor it biweekly. I am wondering if the shedding is caused by stress or the white fungus? I’m really stressed to have to figure out how to treat this infection again. I am also discouraged as my axolotl is only a year and a half (not too old) but has been having these infections despite what I thought was good water quality. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Also video is showing me filling the turkey baster with water to move the water around and show the white flakes scattered throughout the tank.
Also, my axolotl is now in a medical tub with dechlorinated water and a pH of 7.0
