Question (No Location) Uintas backcountry camping and skiing.

My partner and I are thinking about trying to do a Uintas backcountry camping and skiing trip one weekend this coming season. Both experienced campers/backpackers and backcountry skiers, but this'll be the first time we've combined the two. Wondering if people might have advice or thoughts on easy trips to try it out? I have one kinda planned (below), but would also love to hear about other's trips that worked well!

Currently looking at camping below Hoyt Peak and then skiing that peak. Not sure how far you can get up the FS past the neighborhood, but it looks like about a 5mile skin to the base of the peak staying on the FS roads.

Snowbird - Alta First Time In Utah

Hi, me and a few buddies are planning a trip to SLC in mid February. We are looking to stay in SLC and taking the ski bus into Brighton/Snowbird/Solitude (skier and snowboarders). Can anyone give any insight on the ski busses? I know the schedule isn't out yet for this year, but previous year experiences would be appreciated.

Also does anyone have any recommendations of where to stay in SLC? We don't wanna spend a ridiculous amount, but still wanna be able to get to the ski bus/ restaurants/ a bar without having to walk a super far amount.

Thanks!

General Discussion First time visiting Utah!

I am happy my family is finally going to visit the beautiful state of Utah! I have been researching and reading all I can, I even put together a spreadsheet of the ski resort with % of green runs, elevation, do the lifts have foot rests, etc.

However, it is always good to confirm with real people on their experiences. I am leaning towards Deer Valley because my two teens have never skied in their life, and they seem to have a lot of good green runs for them to learn on. I also liked the beginner lift ticket prices for them because they truly are beginning. I personally have not skied in 10 years, and my old knees would appreciate a resort with footrests on the lifts.

My husband does snowboard after a few days skiing so he will be traveling to other mountains in the area like Park City, if we go with Deer Valley. He is not opposed to driving an hour if a mountain is a must do.

Powder Mountain and Brighton sounded good as well. I know people have their favorite slopes for various reasons such as cost, crowds, etc. Would love to hear real peoples thoughts and experiences!

We will also be driving down to the big National Parks. Brian Head is around there, but the elevation concerns me since we are coming from a low altitude and my oldest child got altitude sickness years ago. Out of the 5 main national parks, which is a must do?

Thank you and can't wait to visit a new state!
