This is long, but I've noticed A LOT recently.
I've been reading this for several months, and it definitely seems like ASANTS.
(All stores are not the same)
However, reading about the stores and problems...... some stores sound like great atmospheres and others seem like absolute shitbox nightmares.
Obviously that begins at leadership levels.
There are some issues that seem? company wide.
I have a friend who works at a Target a state away.
He often describes similar issues at his location.
Some things I've really seen in action recently :
I've noticed product after product getting pulled, and ITS NOT TIED OR SET. This has gotten seriously worse the last few months at our store.
The TL in charge of setting things must be absolutely mailing it in.
Another day side superstar.
This kind of horseshit causes the entire closing team to fly by the seat of our pants and leads to us working doubly hard in a sense.
So product is pulled (LeTs KEEp MeTRicS up!!!)
Then pushed to the floor, all to be discovered its not set.
In fact its often a truly overstocked area full of a completely different product..
SURPRISE!!!
Let's bring it back and just backstock.
Double and triple the work and processes for several closers all because of 1-2 people's laziness.
Some of the kids and new hires are now just essentially saying "Fuck it, its gotta go somewhere NEAR here so let's just fling it close".
Backstock? Nah the Hell with that.....let's just slop it in everywhere.
Maybe this is a new hires thought train........
"I heard a TL call it FLEX.......well just fuck it . Let's flex 80% of the entire store".
I'm assuming the lack of tied and set areas may have something to do with Q4 approaching? Unrealistic expectations and workload???
It wasn't near this bad 4-5 months back.
Maybe some of you longer time Target employees know better than I.
So, our closers mostly get 5 hour shifts.
Right out of the gate I began picking up extra days and shifts in an effort to get more hours.
My mistake was going full blast 100% right out of the box, and ultimately I get met with more and more workload, and picking up after others.
Its interesting that its always like "let's just get things done in whatever slow ass fashion".
Then when shit really piles up and sections fall extremely behind, then its all out PANIC MODE~! and the few stronger and faster workers get REWARDED with more work and met with a "get it done faster mentality".
I have an idea, HOW THE FUCK ABOUT DOING IT RIGHT AND GETTING IT DONE ALL THE TIME , instead of chaos and panic when it gets deep and you've been slack assing it for weeks.
Guess that's just retail, but I've always seen it.
So for 6 months, I was picking up shifts, days, working a couple hours over, and essentially worked 6 days a week. (For 30 hours a week, which is bullshit too but thats another story)
I'm leaving in some fashion soon so I've been burning up vacation and sick time.
So I call out for the first time in 8-9 months, and I of course use my allocated sick time.
Then the next day I come in and the griping begins........
A few TLs look at me sideways, one won't even acknowledge me and it's all because of a single callout.
(Ironically 3 of our 5 skeleton ass crew thats closers called out)
I just happened to be one of them....and I knew nothing about others calling out.
LOL. Like I orchestrated some kind of "call out attack". 💣 💣 💣
6 months of 6 days a week and "you're a hero".
Then you are a piece of shit for a single callout.
Priceless.
So you implement attendance policies, allocate sick time as a corporation, but then TMs are met with resentment when you USE YOUR SICK TIME APPROPRIATELY?
This right here, is pretty epic when you think about it.
Sorry I let you down Team lead X, I wasn't here to do YOUR FUCKING JOB and mine as well.
All of our warehouse area is absolutely LOADED TO THE GILLS with pallets. Like, shit is literally EVERYWHERE. There's no room to even maneuver around safely.
I should origami risk the whole joint. 😆
I fully expected this, as I was around Q4 last year too.
But this is just crazy. I don't remember it being quite to this level.
Long time style worker, used to be a closer but moved to dayside. Great employee.
Saw her yesterday and she said she loves daytime more, good for her.
But, she was bitching about not getting hours.
Welcome to Q4~! Mass hiring every breathing human in a 30 mile radius for a seasonal role, and cut your solid workers hours. (You know,, the employees that actually know what they are doing)
This is another baffler to me.
Like, really? If someone can explain this one to me I'd love to hear it.
Staff the stores appropriately, then it might not be an unmitigated disaster when there's a couple callouts.
Apparently staffing the stores isn't ON BRAND anymore. 😆
There's plenty more, but it'll have to be after I wade through 10+ loaded ass carts of reshop and ALL BINS jammed full.
