For those of you interested in Portland's crows, check out the first episode of my Microraptor Podcast which features PDX's roost. I've been documenting Portland's crow roost for 10 years, and this first episode is a serious labor of love.

I'm sharing the first minute here, and you can find the rest at  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_1sO474hfM

Found cat looking for her forever home

Hello all,

I noticed a cat around my property in the Laurelwood area a couple of weeks ago. She started off a bit wary of me, but warmed up to me once I fed her. I had noticed her eating my bird seed and knew she needed help. I have used a couple of Facebook groups, Pawboost and Nextdoor to try and find her owners, but I’ve had zero luck.

As it stands, as adorable and sweet of a cat as she is, I cannot take care of her long term. I am disabled and have more than I can handle with my dog. This pretty girl deserves a home where she can get the love and attention she deserves. She is between 6-12 months old and I just recently took her in for her vaccinations and the vet gave her a clean bill of health. So far I’ve learned she loves to be held and petted as well as playing with anything on a string. She also gets along well with my dog. She is spayed and otherwise seems house broken. Please let me know if you would like to adopt this beautiful girl. I’ve been calling her Britta since my dog is named Annie.

I was looking for a home near my area, but it’s been close to three weeks now so I’m expanding the search a bit. As I’m disabled, the logistics of getting her to anyone too far out may be difficult for me, so please keep that in mind if you want her.

Semi Truck on Germantown this afternoon

Post image
99 Upvotes

My wife was two cars behind a semi truck with trailer that went down Germantown road this afternoon, which is illegal. She saw it sideswipe at least one car and cause at least one other accident, and it never stopped. The photo is a pic they took of the truck's license plate after it got onto the st Johns bridge, she also got a multiple minute video of it driving on Germantown.

If it hit you or caused you to get in an accident, shoot me a PM. She'd be happy to give a statement to your insurance and/or share the video she took with you.

She's also reported it to police non-emergency, the trucking company (Legend), as well as the FMCSA complaint line (you should too): https://complaint.fmcsa.dot.gov

💩 A Post About The Homeless? Shocker 💩 To the Chipotle employee who refused to hand out the bathroom code

There was a houseless man lurking around the cashier. When an employee approached he asked for the bathroom code. The employee refused and an argument ensued. I just want to say that you are a hero for standing your ground and not giving that man the bathroom code.

I know that I would be conflicted: compassion vs rules. I think that employee has made the right choice.

Resilient NE PDX (Neighborhood Community)

Many people want more friends and community, but these days it helps to be proactive. That's the goal of Resilient NE PDX:  to discover if people living in the six neighborhoods surrounding the Alberta Arts District can enhance their social and practical resilience by making new, meaningful, nearby connections.

If you live in Vernon, Woodlawn, Concordia, Alameda, Sabin, or King, you can learn more and join our mailing list at https://resilientnepdx.org/

As a recent transplant, it was nice to see people out and about despite the rain, but I can’t believe this many people thought this was a good idea. 🤦‍♂️

Looking to be a protester and activist

Hey everyone,

Like a lot of you, I am past the point of just being frustrated at the news. Between ICE raids, the defunding of public education, the push toward endless war (especially looking at what’s happening with Iran right now), damaging economic tariffs, and a dozen other compounding crises, it feels like everything is boiling over at once.

I want to translate that anger into actual, sustained local organizing rather than just doom-scrolling.

I’m looking to get boots on the ground and plug into active local networks, coalitions, or meetings here in Portland. Specifically, I'm looking to get involved with ICE protests, Iran war protests, corruption protest.

I am a white Spanish speaker, and French speaker. I don't know if that helps in any way for communication with immigrants who need to be communicated with or produce info sheets to send to residents.

I honestly don't know where to go to be of use or have some value. I am ok with being pointed in the direction of a simple protest where I can just hold a sign. I think that does show people that there are other people with the same view and encourage those who feel alone.

Anything would be a help. Thank you

I built this pirate ship for Halloween and think I'll keep it around to rent out. What would you pay to rent something like this? I also have several animatronics that could go along as "extras".

It is towable and I drove it around the neighborhood with friends and neighbors, which everyone loved.

Event How many times do we come of age in a lifetime? After reading this memoir, seems like the answer is definitely more than once.

I see that Powells is bringing in author Jamie Lorente to read from her new “coming of middle age” memoir My Three Fathers on the 29th

Really interesting read, especially if you grew up in the Pacific Northwest, as the story bounces from Seattle to Eugene to Portland as she searches to establish a solid connection with the Cuban exile biological father she never really knew growing up.

Some of the descriptions of her younger years have a kind of “wild child” vibe at work. One particularly intense passage describes the moment when as a teen she finds herself stranded and in need of a ride, and unwittingly finds herself getting into the truck of a strange man who turns out to be Green River Killer, who trolled the Pacific Northwest in the 80s and 90s.
