Wilds Why did capcom take off the guild card system in wilds?
Seriously it was so fun seeing everyone's cards whenever you got them or sent them out.
I mean look at this. this is so funny and I would not have found it if I wasn't manually looking at other peoples profiles. All we can hope is that capcom miraculously decided to bring it back for ascendance

Wilds Recently found out that there is some dialogue with Olivia at the beginning of the game that suggests our Hunter has a back story(more in description)
apparently something happened where they preferred to work alone before volunteering to go to the forbidden lands. Maybe this past will be explored a bit further in the expansion(if they decide to do so)
Edit: apparently there’s a lot of dialogue that eludes to our hunters past I missed, so now I’ll be replaying the whole game😂

Wilds Lost my save file :(
So yeah, I’m on PS5 and decided to redownload the game after a few months and my save file is just.. gone. This was my character since beta/launch and it’s so disheartening to see all my progress gone. Around 180 hours, 100% achievements and fully dlc ready. On top of that, I don’t have the sliders for my character.
On the bright side at least there’s still a bit of time to grind before ascendance but man I really wanted to go into it with my og :(
Moral of the story, if you play on PS5 get ps plus every once in a while and upload your data, don’t be like me.
(Edit: Many ppl have been pointing out i made my character Griffith from Berserk. I 100% agree with yall, he’s a really bad person and I do not agree with his actions. I saw the game had his hair in the beta and decided to make him as a heroic monster slaying hunter. Not saying I agree w the shit he’s done)

Wilds Switch2 vs PS5pro comparison
MH Wilds screenshots taken on both platforms and then transferred via their respective mobile apps. First shot is Switch2 (only 1920x1080 jpgs but IIRC it can't output 4k at 120hz anyway), then PS5pro (4k jpgs), and so on.
Reddit will compress these images and resolution to hell. I can post the originals in comments if needed. edit: oh, no more resizing for multi-image posts? nice
Modes:
Switch2: Docked. Priotize resolution, ran by default in 120 hz mode, unlocked framerate (around 40 fps?)
PS5pro: Balance mode with locked 40 fps (and thus 120 hz turned on)
Because of the lower input lag at 120 hz and sitting in between 30 and 60 fps frame time-wise, both feel very smooth to play. Even the capped 30 with 120hz on Switch2 still feels pretty good compared to certain games with choppy 30 fps modes that I've played before. Your milage may vary if your TV doesn't do 120 hz. but AFAIK the Switch2 screen itself is 120hz, hence why even handheld mode feels smooth enough (just more ghosting I guess).
Note: different HDMI channels in my setup, so the HDR etc. was set up a bit differently which will affect brightness levels etc. here even if it looks similar on my TV (ps5pro looks a bit darker here while the Switch2 shots look less saturated than on my screen). Plus probably different ways for how these consoles handle HDR to SD conversion in screenshots. I saw it only after transferring the screenshots so i could have done a better job trying to compensate for that.
edit2:
I adjusted the ingame settings a bit more, now the brightness etc. are a bit more comparable. example:
.
The demo only has the Fallow season so all shots are in Fallow. (in before "Wilds always looks grey blabla")
edit: people can dislike the look of fallow in windward, but don't pretend Wilds doesn't also look like this (same platform and mode):
https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/s/9yRBsa70ae
or this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/s/t1mT4H5Wra
(I actually like the desolate contrast but with the effects etc. it just doesn't translate well into screenshots usually.
Of course, pretty much all effects, lighting, draw distance etc. are scaled back on Switch2. I find the worse hair and lighting the most distracting. I saw also a lot more cases of textures loading in late on Switch2. Also slightly more loading/pausing for starting quests. It's hard to tell but I also feel like there's less endemic life or at least not showing in the distance? Even in Fallow, along with the lower amount of vegetation(in the distance especially) and general lower fidelity makes the map feel a bit more empty.
This is NOT to shit on the Switch2 version. If anything this is to show that it's quite impressive considering the hardware and that it feels smooth to play. No origami monsters or similar stuff people posted on ill-configured PCs etc.
Like, this IS MH Wilds. Playing well on a Switch 2. Not some heavy downgraded alternative port with lack of features/can't see as far as Wind's Gasp or whatever. Honestly, I thought more would need to be adjusted.
I just wanted to show the difference for the (technically) lowest and highest console hardware available.
In these modes the framerate is also quite comparable so it's not like putting it up against some 80 fps setup or whatever.
I didn't play much in handheld mode and thus no screenshots. If anything I felt the screen was hiding the shortcomings better. and it was also reasonably smooth as mentioned.

Wilds Playing handheld just hits different
Eventhough I already have a copy on PS5 and have done all the content, I ultimately pre-ordered on Switch 2 because being able to play Wilds on the go just hits different. Sure, graphics look like chicken soup in handheld, but the frame rate and repsonsiveness are surprisingly great. Pity I will have to regrind the entire thing again in December (Gog gives me PTSD).

Wilds Started my first play through!
This is my first monster hunter game ever and I’m currently obsessed. I decided to main the hammer as it’s fun bonking the monsters on the head, just got the paralysis hammer and working on the story atm (I know the setup isn’t great lol but it works)
