Text Review KTC M27P6S Technical review | Color Accuracy & Response Time Measurements
Hey everyone! I’m IMartz, a monitor reviewer from Spain. I’ve tested the KTC M27P6S and wanted to share some measurements and a few details beyond the glossy panel and 2,304 dimming zones.
A few findings from my unit running firmware 1.01:
- Glossy coating: In my experience, it reflects even more than a glossy WOLED, so room lighting matters quite a bit.
- Local dimming: High reduces blooming, but dims small highlights and makes vignetting more noticeable. In DisplayHDR with LD High, I measured around 765 nits at 2% versus 1,668 nits full-screen.
- Color and response times: Even Warm is too cool out of the box. Standard overdrive averaged 5.54 ms at 160Hz with low overshoot.
- 320Hz overdrive quirk: It’s locked in the OSD but adjustable through KTC’s software, where the settings are shifted by one step: selecting “Off” actually applies Standard.
- MPRT + VRR: Both can be enabled together, but I experienced substantial flickering and the MPRT preset sometimes disabling itself.
- Input lag with LD: Other reviews have reported increased latency with local dimming enabled. Using OSRTT/LDAT, I observed occasional spikes but couldn’t identify a consistent trigger or reliably reproduce the reported increase on my unit. That doesn’t rule it out, but my results aren’t conclusive.
- Checkerboard contrast: In my 3×3 SDR test at 100% OSD brightness, the KTC went from around 1,040:1 with local dimming off to 3,400:1 with LD High—a relatively modest result for a Mini LED. The older Xiaomi G Pro 27i reached 9,620:1 with LD Medium in the same test, despite having half as many zones (1,152 vs 2,304). More zones didn’t translate into higher checkerboard contrast here.
At first glance, on display in a brightly lit store, the glossy finish and Mini LED FALD backlight could make you mistake it for an OLED. Once you spend some time actually using it, though, the differences become obvious, particularly with blooming and how small highlights are handled.
For general gaming, I’d personally go with a 1440p OLED, especially with GPU prices being what they are here in Europe. But if you’ll make good use of the 4K resolution and can live with the issues I showed in the video, I think the M27P6S is worth considering—particularly since it can be found for under €400 here in Europe.
Spanish is my native language, so the video is in Spanish, but you can watch it in English using YouTube’s translation feature. My website is also available in English, and the link below should open directly in English.
