Text Review KTC M27P6S Technical review | Color Accuracy & Response Time Measurements

Hey everyone! I’m IMartz, a monitor reviewer from Spain. I’ve tested the KTC M27P6S and wanted to share some measurements and a few details beyond the glossy panel and 2,304 dimming zones.

A few findings from my unit running firmware 1.01:

  • Glossy coating: In my experience, it reflects even more than a glossy WOLED, so room lighting matters quite a bit.
  • Local dimming: High reduces blooming, but dims small highlights and makes vignetting more noticeable. In DisplayHDR with LD High, I measured around 765 nits at 2% versus 1,668 nits full-screen.
  • Color and response times: Even Warm is too cool out of the box. Standard overdrive averaged 5.54 ms at 160Hz with low overshoot.
  • 320Hz overdrive quirk: It’s locked in the OSD but adjustable through KTC’s software, where the settings are shifted by one step: selecting “Off” actually applies Standard.
  • MPRT + VRR: Both can be enabled together, but I experienced substantial flickering and the MPRT preset sometimes disabling itself.
  • Input lag with LD: Other reviews have reported increased latency with local dimming enabled. Using OSRTT/LDAT, I observed occasional spikes but couldn’t identify a consistent trigger or reliably reproduce the reported increase on my unit. That doesn’t rule it out, but my results aren’t conclusive.
  • Checkerboard contrast: In my 3×3 SDR test at 100% OSD brightness, the KTC went from around 1,040:1 with local dimming off to 3,400:1 with LD High—a relatively modest result for a Mini LED. The older Xiaomi G Pro 27i reached 9,620:1 with LD Medium in the same test, despite having half as many zones (1,152 vs 2,304). More zones didn’t translate into higher checkerboard contrast here.

At first glance, on display in a brightly lit store, the glossy finish and Mini LED FALD backlight could make you mistake it for an OLED. Once you spend some time actually using it, though, the differences become obvious, particularly with blooming and how small highlights are handled.

For general gaming, I’d personally go with a 1440p OLED, especially with GPU prices being what they are here in Europe. But if you’ll make good use of the 4K resolution and can live with the issues I showed in the video, I think the M27P6S is worth considering—particularly since it can be found for under €400 here in Europe.

Spanish is my native language, so the video is in Spanish, but you can watch it in English using YouTube’s translation feature. My website is also available in English, and the link below should open directly in English.

Discussion Short review for the KTC M27P6S. Impressive mini LED monitor you probably shouldnt sleep on

Today I finally received the KTC M27P6S monitor, and I have to admit, I had my doubts about whether the specs were true and if they could actually pull it off. But after using it for around half a day now, I can say the monitor delivers on all its promises!

Mini LED IPS, HDR 1400, high nits, high PPI, glossy screen, 4K 27 inch, 160Hz 4K or 320Hz 1080p. It has KVM, USB C, and plenty of other features.

I immediately played a bit of Arc Raiders and The Witcher 3. The quality is astounding, totally on par with OLED.

The previous monitors I used were an AOC 32 inch IPS and a Dell 27 inch IPS. Both were just... not it. Those didn't have Mini LED. But I finally found my monitor. I hope I won't run into any dead pixels down the line. For now, I double checked and there is nothing, but I'll keep looking over the next few weeks.

For those in Europe, you can buy it from bol.com or AliExpress. Keep in mind that this is the KTC M27P6S, not the older KTC M27P6. They fixed pretty much all the issues the non S version had.

Oh, and for anyone who only wants to use HDR while gaming or watching YouTube or movies, give HDRTray a try. It’s a simple tool to enable or disable HDR and works perfectly even on dual or triple monitor setups.

Buying this for €385 feels like a steal. For anyone who is hesitating, I'd definitely suggest giving it a try. It's absolutely worth it!

Photo Weird Oled Unevenness

Is it normal for an OLED to have this weird uneven look? I am not really sure how to describe this. It’s like light coming through linen blinds or something lol.

It happens with HDR on or off. I dont notice it in content/gaminf, only in windows apps or normal programs like claude, web browsing.

Monitor: Gigabyte MO27Q2A 27” QD OLED. Only about 100 hours of use time

Discussion Local dimming & Windows 11 HDR for Mini LED - Acer XV275U F5biipprx, best way to set it up? Is Windows HDR required for local dimming?

Ended up picking up a Acer XV275U F5biipprx Mini LED IPS as I could get it locally at Best Buy with easy returns if necessary. Been trying it out and have some questions about local dimming & HDR.

  1. For local dimming to be enabled, it looks like I need to enable HDR in Windows 11. When on the desktop this makes the screen quite dim and text becomes less legible though local dimming seems to be enabled.
  2. When disabling Windows HDR, local dimming on the monitor seems to be disabled even if HDR1000 is enabled on the monitor's OSD. Likewise for Off or Auto. For some reason, local dimming seems to require Windows HDR to be enabled.

Does this mean that each time I want to play a game or watch a movie, I must enable HDR (Win + Alt + B shortcut makes this less of a pain), and then disable it each time I want to switch back to the desktop?

Or is there some other setting on the OSD or within Windows that I need to change?

And is it possible to use local dimming in SDR?

Discussion Returning my LG 39GX950B 5K2K. Issues are too disctracting.

I spent a lot of time researching the best monitor for productivity and decided to try a curved ultrawide for the first time. My use case is roughly 70% productivity (writing and coding), 15% media consumption (mainly YouTube and Jellyfin), and 15% gaming.

I’ve always wanted an OLED display. I really enjoy watching sci-fi movies, especially scenes with wide-open skies, and OLED’s deep blacks can make those scenes much more immersive. I decided not to wait for the Alienware AW3926QW because its estimated delivery date in my country is currently February 27, so I went with the LG 39GX950B instead.

The monitor arrived yesterday, and I was really excited. I watched a lot of 4K OLED videos on YouTube and was very happy with the image overall. Today, though, I watched a regular video and started noticing distracting issues in greyish areas. I knew OLED could have drawbacks, but I didn’t expect this to bother me as much as it does.

I tried various calibration options, including NVIDIA settings, the monitor’s OSD, and Windows settings, but nothing helped enough. After less than 24 hours, and finding the issue distracting during my everyday work as well, I’ve decided to return it.

I’m genuinely disappointed. I’m coming from two UHD VA panels and was hoping for a major upgrade that would take my setup to the next level. Unfortunately, these issues are just too distracting for me.

I’m going to look for a curved ultrawide with an IPS Black panel instead.

Discussion My External Monitor is being capped at 120hz

So, I recently bought a Samsung Odyssey G3 as an external monitor for my Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 laptop, but I can’t get the full 180Hz refresh rate. It’s currently capped at 120Hz.
I’ve already tried almost every solution I could find online, but nothing seems to work. I’m currently using an HDMI 2.0 cable since my laptop doesn’t have a DisplayPort.
I feel like something is limiting the refresh rate, but I can’t figure out what it is. Should I try buying a new HDMI cable, maybe an HDMI 2.1, or is there something else I should check?

Discussion Asking for recommendation for upgrading to a 1440p monitor from a 1080p

I currently have a VG278Q and decided it was finally time to upgrade my monitor to a 1440p one (non OLED) since I own a 7800 XT. Here are the options I'm currently considering:

  1. AOC Q27G3XMN 180Hz - $229.99: Watched Monitors Unboxed' "Best 1440p Gaming Monitors of 2026" video where he mentioned this one and the Q27G40XMN (which appears to be mostly unavailable).
  2. AOC Q27G4ZMN 240Hz - $303.04: I've seen this at better prices (like around +$50 more than the G3), but it looks to be around the $300 price point at the moment.
  3. AOC Q27G4SMN 300Hz - $269.99: Interesting price, but not sure if I even need a 300Hz monitor. Also heard complaints about the stand for this one and for the G4ZMN, and setting up a mount would be a bit of a nuisance in my current setup.
  4. Acer Nitro MG275U X2biippx - $229.99: This one is a more recent model and I haven't seen many reviews about it, but the price is very attractive.

Haven't done much research about HDR, and how it works on each of these models, so if you know anything that could be helpful, I'm very interested in learning more!

Please also feel free to let me know of other models as well!

Discussion Technical question: Can close placement of studio monitors cause edge panel degradation over time? (Photos attached)

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get a second opinion from the collective intelligence here regarding a weird issue with my dual-monitor setup (two identical ASUS VG248QG 24" 165Hz TN monitors).

The Problem:

Both monitors are developing vertical line artifacts/discoloration right on their outer edges. On the left monitor, it's on the far left edge, on the right monitor, it's on the far right edge and a bit more pronounced/extends slightly further into the screen. (Note: The attached photos show the right monitor).

The Setup & Potential Cause:

Due to space constraints on my desk, I have active studio monitors (Yamaha HS7) placed directly next to the displays, with only about 2 to 3 cm of clearance between the speaker housing and the screen bezel.

After a lot of troubleshooting, I suspected that electromagnetic interference (EMI) or heat coming from the rear-mounted electronics/transformers of the Yamaha HS7 might be causing this damage over long daily use.

My Questions to You:

1. Do these artifacts look like typical EMI damage or magnetic/heat degradation from studio monitors placed this close? Or could this be a cable issue (already checked, but open to ideas)?

2. Is this kind of edge damage permanent (irreversible), or is there any chance it can fade or be fixed?

Any insights or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Discussion Reccomended monitor upgrade from 1080p 240hz ips?

just built my first ever gaming pc almost 2 months ago and listened to the internet's advice on everything except the monitor i just grabbed whatever was cheap and has high refresh rate. i kinda hate this shit monitor i thought it'd be fine and people online were enthusiasts trippin about the monitor resolutions. i dont like the milky grey blacks and faint edge light blooming leakage from the ips as well but i can live with it. my maximum budget allows for either one of those budget 1440p oleds, or a 4k ips (ideally 27") if you think my gpu can handle it? im scared to buy an oled not because of burn it but because of the grey banding and text fringing and other visual issues i saw in reviews, especially prevelant in budget oleds like the ones im considering, so id go for an ips instead to be safe. mini LED is super rare in my country i only found a couple in stock but ill likely go for it if i find a good one. i will gladly lean on aggressive upscaling and frame gen if it still looks much better than 1080p. i already messed around with dldsr and i think my gpu will handle even 4k fine, its comparable to a ps5 pro's gpu right so why not? what resolution and panel yall think i should go for?

my monitor is GS25F2A btw

Discussion Looking for the best possible 1080p 240+hz monitor.

Currently have a 1080p 240hz monitor that I want to gift to a coworker and want to replace that with the best possible monitor that is 1080p and at least 240hz.

I have my eye on a “ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QMRL5A” which seems to be great, just wondering if I’m missing anything.

Discussion Does AOC Gaming Q27G42XE still have issues (scanlines, pixel inversion)

Hi everyone. I have to replace my 2K 27'' monitor and I was looking around. This one seemed perfect but after investigating a bit more I came to find out that some people have had problems with it (the ones I referenced in my title). The thing is that I rarely see anyone talk about having any problems with this monitor. For example, it has impeccable reviews on the store's website where I found it. Does every single unit of this model have these problems and/or are they still selling this model with these problems?
