Community I’m thinking of starting a remote movie club using Scener + Telegram. Anyone interested? 🍿

I’ve been thinking about starting a remote movie club for people who enjoy watching movies but would love to share the experience with others, even when we’re miles apart.

The plan is pretty simple: we’ll use the Scener browser extension to host virtual movie nights where we can watch together, and a Telegram channel to build the community, share updates, suggest movies, and organize our next screenings.

We could take turns picking movies, explore different genres, have spontaneous movie nights, and hang around afterwards to discuss the film, debate plot twists, or just talk nonsense. 😂

I’m open to everything from psychological thrillers and mind-bending movies to horror, sci-fi, comedy, romance, and hidden gems that deserve more attention.

I’m hoping to build a small but active community of people who are genuinely interested in making this fun and consistent.

Discussion Driving in Ghana/ghana drivers

I’ve been driving in Ghana for a few months now and I have to say. The accidents are our own faults. The trotro drivers are impatient they will literally cause you to get in an accident. The moto drivers are impossible as well. When will be smart as a people ?? I was driving this very morning in one of the markets as o do every morning. The road infront of me was blocked by on coming cars so I thought it would be safer to wait for them to pass considering there was no space for me to go foward. The trotro driver behind me came out of his car and started yelling for me to go foward and bully the other people to go backwards…..that’s just unsafe, I can’t just drive my car into someone else’s there’s no space. I saw another tro tro driver pressure someone else to run a red light. I get that Ghana wants to implement all of these new traffic laws but the people in the damn country can’t drive. Driving safe is a problem for Ghanaians, you can’t drive at the speed limit because there’s gonna be someone rushing you. It’s dangerous and frustrating

I bought this drink exactly on 27th Oct 2026 and I'm unsure if this was produced last yes 27th or today. The most controversial thing is, if you get it next year between 27th Oct and 1st Nov, you will buy it with confidence that it's good because there is no year and you can't know how many batches has this company produced 😉

Discussion Getting tired of religion

I’m starting to feel like I’m chained ⛓️‍💥, it’s like I can’t do things I want or enjoy doing simply because of religion .

It’s like it doesn’t make sense to me. Why aren’t we allowed to question religion and there’s just so many and all have unanswered questions .

What’s the point of don’t do this , don’t do that .. just too much ..

Just be a good person and enjoy life thats all.
Religion is just full of fear .

Everything is just a sin.

Eg. how can having sex be a sin when God made us feel that way . Just imagine 2 people agreeing to enjoy nature

So now I have to learn everyday in fear that I might go to hell, when I haven’t done any evil to anyone

I need answered most especially from religious people .
My faith is starting to shrink

Religion Overly religious people on legon campus are ridiculous and chained in cults you're failing your exams and sending your school money for pledge eii I thought it was fake till seeing confessions of people's friends who are in the cult and prioritizing church over school.

Cause I swear my body always felt bad when I entered a church on campus like some sort of off enegery about them and the way they even act throw me off so bad. They have some crazed looking their eyes and refuse the word no I have to insult them and say I'm a Satanist for them to leave me alone lmao. When I say aethist they always get bolder.

Cause I would see this person always go to church and cmgurk you ain't passing your papers wtfff focus on your goddamn works. School comes first before religion

I've never seen a top student like top all As student who's overly religious

Controversial Serwaa Amihere, Classism, and What Women’s Empowerment Should Really Be About in Ghana

I don’t entirely blame Serwaa Amihere. I think she’s simply naive about fashion. Most of the brands she mentioned are fast-fashion or ordinary high-street brands. In Europe, people buy everyday basics from stores like Primark, yet she spoke about these brands as though owning them were a symbol of status.
What bothered me even more was seeing them seated on a raised podium teaching young women how to use cutlery. It reminded me of how deeply rooted classism is in Ghanaian society. Why not sit among these young women and engage with them on an equal level?
There’s nothing wrong with teaching etiquette, but women’s empowerment should go beyond clothing brands, table manners, and appearing sophisticated. As influential lawyers and media personalities„Serwaa and Obobie” they have a platform to discuss education, financial independence, leadership, and helping women find their voices in a male-dominated society.
Empowerment should be about building confident, independent women, not teaching them how to appear upper-class.

Ask r/Ghana Kantanka cars

Couldn't they have focused on making trotro or taxi models? There are so many rickety public vehicles, so there could have been a market.

I have only seen like 5 kantanka vehicles on the road.

Thanks in advance.

Community Someone to practice Ga with

Hey everyone.

I'm Ga but there's not really anyone around to speak with and I didn't speak much of it when I was younger so when I go for those family meetings , the pressure makes me forget the little I know.

I'm looking for someone who can practice with me on discord or something once or twice a week.

(We can talk more about it if it sounds good to you .I'm willing to pay ten cedis per call )

Preferably people younger than 40 (I feel like we would connect more) but I'm not picky.

Preferably a woman (if possible)

I'm looking for someone who is patient .

If this sounds cool, let me know!

Community How do people who have worked for 10+ years do it?

I’ve worked in corporate for exactly 2 years now, and at this point I’m mentally and physically stressed out 🫩
How do you guys do it for that long, because the pattern is exhausting, like all your days are bunched up into one endless cycle. Yes we have a few days off but it’s still the same. Does it ever end?

Culture, History & Traditions: 𝐈 𝐖𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 I Successfully convinced Africans that polygamy is a sin but homosexuality is a human right

The Neanderthals Brainwashed | In many parts of the world, ideas about morality, family structure, and identity did not emerge in isolation. They were shaped over centuries by power, religion, law, and influence.

Polygamy, practiced historically in many African, Middle Eastern, and Asian societies, was often reframed through colonial and missionary lenses as immoral or backward. This judgment did not come from the communities themselves, but from external powers that imposed their own cultural and religious standards.

At the same time, modern Western societies redefined individual identity and personal freedom through a different moral framework. Behaviors once discouraged or hidden were reframed as personal rights, protected by law and promoted through cultural influence.

The process of persuasion is rarely direct. It works through repetition, authority, and normalization. Schools teach it, laws enforce it, entertainment celebrates it, and criticism is often discouraged or punished.

Understanding this dynamic is not about attacking any group or belief. It is about recognizing how power shapes morality, how narratives travel across borders, and how cultures can be taught to doubt their own traditions while embracing others.

Real awareness begins when societies are allowed to question, compare, and decide for themselves—without coercion, shame, or imposed superiority. #Nationalists🇨🇩Credit to; The BlAck News.

Community How do you calculate your break-even price on the GSE?

I've been investing on the GSE and realised how tricky it can be to calculate your actual break-even price after fees.

How do other GSE investors handle these calculations? Do you use a spreadsheet, calculate manually, or have another approach?

Ask r/Ghana How long does it take to receive an offer letter from the “Big 4” companies

I received an email from KPMG that I’ve been selected for an associate role about a month ago. The email mentioned I’ll receive the offer letter in the coming weeks and currently it’s been 5 weeks since I got that mail. Is this normal with big 4 companies ?

Discussion WHY IS IT EASIER TO SEND MONEY TO SOMEONE IN GHANA THAN TO PAY FOR SOMETHING ONLINE? 😭

A few weeks ago, I wanted to pay for my Claude subscription.

I had the money. It was sitting right there in my Mobile Money wallet.

But apparently, having money and being able to spend it online are two completely different things. 💀

I needed a card.

So now I'm moving money from MoMo to my bank account, paying transfer charges, dealing with the whole process, and then finally attempting to pay for the subscription.

All that just to pay for something online.

And it got me thinking...

We can use Mobile Money to buy airtime, pay electricity bills, send money across the country, pay merchants, and do so many other things.

But the moment you want to pay for an international service like Claude, ChatGPT, Netflix, or a developer tool, things can get complicated.

WHY?

Why should someone who already has money in their Mobile Money wallet have to jump through extra hoops just to access a service on the internet?

And it's not just subscriptions. Think about students who want to buy online courses, developers who need paid APIs, designers paying for software, or people who want to purchase apps and services that require an international card.

This is the kind of problem that made me start thinking about a solution.

I'm a developer, so naturally, I started asking myself: What if you could pay for international online services directly from your Mobile Money wallet?

No transferring money to your bank first. No needing a traditional bank account just to get started.

That idea is what led me to start working on a product that can help my fellow Ghanaian.

I'm still in the early stages, figuring things out and exploring how to make it work. I'm not here to pretend I've solved everything. I want to understand the problem better before building something people don't actually need.

So I'd genuinely love to hear from people here, especially fellow Ghanaians.

Three questions:

  1. What's the last thing you tried to pay for online but struggled with because of your payment method?
  2. Do you currently use a bank card, a virtual card, or some other workaround for international payments?
  3. If you could pay for international online services directly from your MoMo wallet, would you use it? What would make you trust a service like that?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from students, developers, designers, freelancers, and anyone who regularly pays for online services.

I have a feeling a lot of us have experienced this, but I'd like to hear your stories. 👇🏾

Ask r/Ghana Starlink shipping address

Hello family,

I will be home, Aburi, for a while and half of it will require remote work. Based on previous posts in this sub, I think using Starlink mini would be ideal for my online needs.

I tried pre-ordering a kit this evening but apparently, my address is not recognized by the company. Is there any advice on how I should go about this? Any reputable vendor recommendation is highly appreciated.

Thank you.
