Im pretty new to coin collecting and im having a hard time figuring out it this penny is just a regular 1982 D or if it could possibly be a 1982 D small date. Its hard to tell from pictures but the number look smaller than my other 1982 pennies.

I’m a horrible person, but this is so much fun. Once a month I visit all the banks in my area and grab whatever Eisenhower dollars or Kennedy halves they may have. Sometimes I hit, sometimes I don’t.
I keep all the Ikes but only keep the 90 or 40% JFKS (if I’m lucky). Here’s the fun part. Instead of returning the rest to the bank, I just use them to pay for all my normal daily activities.
Apparently most of the people in the service industry have never seen a JFK half. One guy at Chick-Fil-A took my JFK’s and asked me what they were. Another younger girl at Walgreens just stared at them trying to read the print and figure out their value. The best was an older Brazilian man working at BK looked puzzled and called his manager to ask what they were. He kept asking her “are these big quarters? Are these big quarters?”
My favorite is the look on my wife’s face when paid $37 at our local pharmacy using JFK halves. It seems like everywhere I go, paying with JFK’s causing confusion and curiosity.
The way I look at it is I am introducing them back into circulation and educating people about our historic coins.

Credit: US Mint: https://www.usmint.gov/news/media-kit/youth-sports-quarters. Also, in the meantime, they released the fifth (final design) of 2026 quarters on Oct. 19 (https://www.usmint.gov/news/press-releases/united-states-mint-celebrates-release-of-gettysburg-address-quarter). Only got 1 coin of the third design myself.

When starting medical school they tell all of us we absolutely need to buy this $700 opthalma/otto-scope set. Which we do. But since very few of us are bound to be plane-flying ophthalmologists (real stereotype), we all proceed to leave it in our drawers, save a couple times during APM.
Fast forward to last night, the battery goes out in my loupe. Of course I have none to replace them. But then, Eureka! I remember I have this stupid thing sitting a drawer. So I dust it off, charge it up, and bam!
Works fantastically for checking for errors. Lighting is phenomenal, magnification is totally fine, and after 6 years it finally has a purpose.

I lost count but I'm 8 or 9 boxes in so far on quarters. Just picked up this solid box of DOIs from my bank. No enders, hopefully at least one is hiding in the middle!

Does anyone else save them and are they worth collecting or have any additional value over face? Thoughts?
